I participated in online prep with Christine for the SAT & ACT, she was truly an amazing teacher. It was as if we met in person twice a week! She took the time to make sure I was understanding the subjects and made sure to not end the session until all the my questions were answered. I highly recommend online tutoring with Christine if you're looking to be successful on the SAT & ACT. I even scored a perfect score on my ACT too!
I have been extremely happy with the tutoring and coaching I received from Arbor Tutors to improve my GMAT score. My overall GMAT score was stuck in the low 600's (and I struggled for months to get it there) but quickly improved to 700s after receiving insightful diagnostic of my strengths/weaknesses followed by a large number of specific tasks to improve my weaknesses. I'm still shocked with the ease and speed with which my tutor was able to help me improve my score. Don't get me wrong, you will be given a large amount of work but the work is focused on what will benefit you the most and help you improve quickly. I strongly recommend tutoring from Arbor Tutors if you are looking to make major improvements on your score. I took a highly regarded GMAT prep course first and although the course was excellent, the personalized training, test taking strategies, in depth explanations, and coaching from Arbor Tutors was orders of magnitude better. I also echo the comments of previous reviewers: Arbor Tutors is invested in your success and provides a wide range of unique resources tailored to your needs to help you get a score far above your expectations. I honestly never thought I had a real chance of scoring above a 90th percentile on the GMAT but Steve at Arbor Tutors showed me how to make this reality.
Grace Wang is my Mandarin tutor, and I have been taking private lessons with her for many years, first for SAT II Chinese prep and then for advance reading, writing, and conversation. Grace has always been very fun and approachable, and we have a great time conversing and reading about a wide range of topics such as Chinese history, idioms, and daily life. Her own understanding of Mandarin is very strong, and she takes the time to explain the nuances of the language. She also utilizes many different resources: online learning tools, textbooks, novels, etc. Most importantly, Grace is very patient, knowledgable, and flexible. I can suggest any kind of material to review for our classes, and she will always have insightful things to add. I always look forward to my Mandarin lessons with her!
Amarnath Santhanam tutored my 12-year-old son in two math subjects, Algebra II and Trigonometry. His knowledge and command of material, his art of explaining most difficult subjects clearly and playfully, his ability to inspire a student and make him continuously interested and fascinated in the study -- made his classes an exciting experience for my son who considered Amarnath the teacher he has ever had. We will be delighted to invite Amarnath to tutor other math and science disciplines. He is a top-notch pedagogue.
All of their staff is very responsive and amazing. I scheduled my sessions right away with great tutors who graduated from top universities. Also, it was so helpful to download their SAT UP app. After trying dozens of SAT prep apps, this one is my favorite so far. If you want to get higher points, this package is awesome and affordable for the value you get.
Working with Angela has helped me improve fundamental flaws in my learning and focus on long term goals. She's very knowledgeable and can help in almost anything school/college related, from the SAT/ACT to APs better studying habits.
Bryce is a wizard when it comes to test prep. I hired him to help me improve my LSAT score and I was shocked at how quickly I was able to progress under his guidance. I’ve always been that guy who thinks “I’ve never been good at standardized tests, no matter what kind of help I get”. Working with Bryce turned that notion upside down. He showed me that the LSAT isn’t a labyrinth of mystery, but rather a puzzle that can be unlocked with the right tools. He was entirely right. Bryce utilizes a very easy-to-understand approach, breaking down each section and each question type into something concrete and understandable. His methods not only work when applied to the test, but he strives to make sure you understand them. Since the LSAT has patterns and attempts to use the same methods to trick you, many of my conversations with Bryce involved making sense of a certain style of question, understanding it commonsensically, and then realizing that it wasn’t all that difficult to arrive at the right answer once you removed the haziness of a foggy LSAT brain. We often used golf and other sports analogies to help make sense of the arguments. I found those analogies to be incredibly helpful because they put the LSAT into terms that I was already comfortable with. After working with Bryce, I improved my LSAT score by 8 points in a few months. But, besides a better LSAT score, I am really indebted to Bryce for helping me to think more clearly. Ultimately, Bryce’s method leads you to becoming supremely inconvincible, so that your brain will immediately spot flaws in arguments you see on TV, from your friends or family, or wherever else you find them. Now, I am naturally spotting holes in arguments and I am a much more inquisitive reader. These skills are phenomenal for the LSAT but will serve anyone well in law school too. I would highly recommend Bryce as an LSAT tutor!
Neal was an amazing tutor. I had a 72% in my summer school stats class at week 3 when I enlisted his help. He worked around my crazy schedule and even came to my house. With his help both from tutoring and with his guidance for my final project, I was able to finish the class with an 89.14% at week 6. My teacher even emailed me to tell me he was impressed with my hard work and rounded my grade up to an A! Neal is a humorous guy, so he made my statistics tutoring both fun and informative which I really appreciated during a very stressful class. I would absolutely recommend Neal as a tutor! Perhaps my only "negative" comment would be that he is ridiculously smart and at times I had a hard time following along with his explanations. But for the most part, he "dumbed" down the confusing material and really helped me bring up my C to an A. Thanks Neal!!!!!!
Deeana is a very helpful and knowledgable tutor who I would definitely recommend! She helped motivate me and offered constructive explanations to help understand difficult content. Deeana offered help in every subject including SAT prep and taught me how to use time management when completing assignments. Overall, I was able to better comprehend what I was learning and Deeana has immensely helped while making me more confident in my work.
I am so thankful for everything you have helped me accomplish. You were so much fun to work with and an excellent ACT tutor. You helped me develop different test-taking techniques and strategies that were altered for my unique learning style, and this really helped me to feel confident before my exam. I am especially grateful that you pushed me to take the ACT a second time. Best decision I ever made. Additionally, you helped me edit my essays for my UC application. You were fabulous at helping me tell my story, and I really do believe they helped me stand out. Thank you so much! You are the best

I am happy to help you increase your grades in a variety of subjects, such as (AP/IB) Biology, (AP) Statistics, (AP) French, Math, and English. I also provide test prep services (SAT I, SAT II, and ACT) as well as French language courses. Sessions can take place in person or via Skype. I take a personalized approach to tutoring because each student is unique, and no one learns exactly the same way. I also believe that it is important to nurture the natural curiosity that all students have, which has often been suffocated by years of rote memorization and stagnant teaching methods. All my students have seen significant improvement in their grades and/or test scores. They tell me that I make subjects more interesting for them, which is the key to this improvement. I majored in Biology and French in college and earned my Ph.D. in Biology. I have been in living in Europe for the last five years, and I have been working for a tutoring agency in Paris during this past year.

I provide English and writing lessons from elementary through college. I also teach science, biology, chemistry, math, French, Spanish (elementary through college), study skills and test-taking, SAT, and other test preparation. I help students analyze problems and use inference and deduction for both reading and math. I teach math (up to trigonometry, algebra I and II) in a very conceptual way so they can generalize basics and apply to higher math. I start from where they are and help them fill in gaps, using inquiry, along Socratic lines, but also real world learning. Everything but the "discovery" method.
