This guy is worth his weight in gold! I FINALLY found someone who is honest, reliable, extremely knowledgeable, and seems to be able to fix almost anything that I throw at him! He has gone back and fixed about 5 pieces of restaurant equipment that I had previously paid incompetent people to work on and never repair properly. Plus the new items that have come up in my business. And, he is super reasonable on his prices. Not sure why some business hasn’t snatched him up yet, but I secretly hopes he never leaves me! He has fixed walk in coolers, prep top fridges, convection ovens, fryers, installed a complete a/c system, ice machines, etc. He does it all! DO YOURSELF A FAVOR AND CALL THIS GUY!

Anthony was amazing. Extremely professional and explained everything step by step. He explained all possible issues in detail and all possible solutions. Anthony called me right away to explain what the issue ended up being and how he exactly fixed the problem. Easy to talk with and trust. Very punctual and I was extremely grateful that I found him to fix the problem with my LG Stainless Steel Stove/Oven. He will now become my go to parson with any issues that arise with my apliances in the near future. Honest individual! Highly recommend his service! Awesome work!

Nick was incredibly fast and responsive in fixing my oven broiler. The same day that I needed service, we spoke on the phone and he came over with the needed part. My oven was fixed within an hour and Nick provided a six month guarantee on his labor. Couldn't ask for better service!

Our gas oven wouldn't light. When we called Jeff, he gave us his thoughts on what the problem most likely was and gave us quotes based on his guess. He came out the next morning and was correct about the problem. He replaced the broken part, which he had with him, and charged a flat fee for his labor and service. He had everything put back together within the hour and also made sure, when the oven heated up, that the temperature was accurate before leaving. Very nice to work with and very fair pricing. We will call him again and refer him to our friends.

Every other company wanted to charge over $100+ for just a diagnostics on my Wolf double oven. Their prices were very reasonable and were equipped with the tools to work on my double oven. They replaced the thermocouple and didn't charge me an arm and a leg. Definitely recommend.

My Thermador oven broke while I was self-cleaning it. Apparently, the thermostat burned out. Alex came and fixed it and did a great job! He adjusted my oven door and now all my burners light again. So thankful.

The San Fernando Valley Heating and Air Conditioning crew cleaned our heating and dryer ducts last week and we couldn't have been happier with them and their work! They were incredibly professional, courteous, efficient, thorough, and respectful of our time and home. Best of all, we're breathing nice clean air and our clothes are actually coming out of the dryer dry.

I had my front fence sanded and repainted, heavy duty furniture straps installed on tall free-standing wire racks, a eyehook latch installed on my screen door and my oven clean. The work was completed quickly and efficiently and at a fair price. I plan to hire Charles again for work at my house.

We have Viking Double Oven and we have always been really happy with. So when we were roasting a chicken one day and came in to find our oven had ramped up to 500 degrees and the door was locked and would not open or shut down, we were very surprised. I had to throw the breaker to get the oven to power down, and once it powered down we could finally get the door open. The chicken was ruined. It was comical how black the chicken was. It was like a scene in some silly comedy. It was black as charcoal and smoking. The part that was not funny was the part where we could have burned our house down if we would not have caught it when we did. We called up My Appliance Repair Los Angeles and told them to send some body out as soon as possible. We had a technician there the next day. His name was Steven and he was a really nice guy. He took a look at the offending appliance, and should us how we must have had a faulty thermostat and when it malfunctioned and the temperature ramped up it confused the Oven into to thinking it was in Self-Cleaning mode which is why the door would not open. He had brought an extra thermostat with him so he had us up and running in no time. We did not even have to eat out a second night. I am so happy we called My Appliance Repair Houston. What great company. You should try them.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
