Mike entertained our summer party for 2.5 hours with his music and vocals. He was on time, and was quite flexible in taking requests. He has a broad range of music in his repertoire and in the end, several guests and the author attempted to join him in song, failing miserably :-). I would definitely recommend Mike for your next party.

Didier did an excellent job enhancing the ambiance with his beautiful guitar music. Our guests were very impressed and commented on the way out. The music was such that conversations were not drowned out, which is what we were striving for! Thank you Didier, for a job well done, and for caring about our cause!

Thank goodness Jeremy had a cancellation and we received his information! From the very start, he was easy to talk with, communicated back very quickly (I had lots of questions) and was professional, yet easy to relate to. We hired Jeremy to DJ for our daughter's high school graduation party (approx 75 ppl) he made it feel like a huge celebration party. Professional laser lights, fog machine and so much more. It's clear he is an extremely well versed and professional DJ/MC. I felt privileged having him for our little party, when clearly he could host hundreds at large events & weddings with ease, I'm sure. He made us feel just as important as any of those. Few points of interest: We had an extensive list with a crazy genre of music to get through. Everything from Journey or Boston, Blue Oyster Cult to Top 40 dance & tons of Latin Cumbia flare. Our requests where so off the wall I wasn't sure how it would go or sound. Well, it went seamless!! Even better than that, he mixes live, reads his crowd and takes requests and within minutes is playing your song as if he had already had it ready to go. Jeremy, you made my daughter's evening great, her friends loved it, the adult guests loved it & my husband & I were so very impressed (from start to finish)! For that we thank you and we will definitely have you back and have already begun to recommend you. Your prices are MORE than fair, your willingness to accommodate however you can (for the best experience), excellent ideas and your just all around GREAT DJ experience is impeccable. Side note: I read reviews all over before I hire (anyone), the person who opted not to hire him on their review....such a mistake. We ran into nothing of the sort & honestly, we couldn't have done any better! Hire Jeremy Wygal of World Famous Ent., he's going to make your next party, wedding, function, dance etc. the best experience, custom to your needs & requests. Awesome Job Jeremy! We'll be back.... Suzi & Javier

I have been playing guitar for around 20 years, mostly self taught. Over the years, I have tried out various lessons (online, multiple teachers, etc). Never have I experienced such an organized, thoughtful approach to learning your instrument than with Jason Bond. I've been with him for around 6 months. He can cater to your needs, but I prefer to follow his lead. It is like going to your own private music school (Jason is studying for his PhD in music). I am covering the basics of jazz and improving my theory, but also improving my blues/rock abilities. Jason will end your search for the ultimate guitar/music teacher! Also a great guy, thoughtful person, whom I now consider a good friend.

Tim performed solo in our backyard for my husband's 30th birthday party. He was professional, reliable and on time! He was only supposed to play for 2 hours because of my budget, but he ended up staying for 3 hours. Tim is a talented artist and can play tunes from the Eagles to Sublime to Darius Rucker. He took requests from the party attendees all night and even made my husband cry! Ok, well he was a little bit intoxicated but Tim was able to play his favorite new song. Just as my husband passed out early from too much fun (Read: too many drinks) he kept saying how awesome the music was. Too bad he missed the last hour of Tim's performance! Thank you, Tim!!

Ryan helped us celebrate my wife's 40th birthday. His song list is extensive and covers the last 50 years of music. We had seen him perform in town and have always been impressed. My wife is certain he would win American Idol or the Voice. He really nails every song. Very professional with top of the line equipment that truly makes a difference. He was not familiar with one of my wife's favorite artists I mentioned while booking, but took the time to nail the song as if it were his own. What really stood out was the range of music he covers. From hits to amazing Spanish guitar instrumentals that he and his guitar player Kaz absolutely nail. Thanks for making our event perfect Ryan. Highly recommend Ryan for anyone looking for live music.

Courtney Knott is a phenomenal musician whose talent spans composition, arranging , conducting, singing and playing. Having know her for the last ten years I have watched her growth as a colleague but more importantly , a friend. She is extremely passionate and humble;those may be her best qualities. She makes music come to life whether it is gospel, jazz , rhythm and blues or classical. She is an extremely versatile musician who puts her heart and soul completely into performing and her craft. There's no doubt in my mind that she will be able to pass on her gift to others through teaching so that they, too may benefit from her artistry!

      About

"You are what you do" - music is my passion in life. With a local following and some radio success, my originals are catchy and fresh. I love covering the best songs in classic genres and also stay current with new pop music as well. I have worked hard to bring to the stage a flexible, dj style of entertainment, by focusing on reading the crowd and playing a song they want to hear in that moment. I also have lots of rehearsed music that reliably goes over well. My most favored style of entertainment, involves playing as a duo where we feature a mix of acoustic and electric elements. We can entertain and still leave room for our audience to talk while enjoying food, wine or company. my website is brianleebender

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

      • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
      • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
      • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.
