Where do i begin, my experience Anna kramer photography was amazing. Her and her husband are wonderful people, which makes everything so much better. I feel like everything that one does should be done with love and i can say they defenitely did their job with love. On a professional note, the quality of their photographs are amazing. They look so nice. They also have a beautiful album they offer that i recommend everyone gets apart from their package. The pictures are printed on the cover of the album book and on each page. I truley feel blessed to have found them. I was praying that i could find an amazing high quality photographer for an affordable price and i must say God answered my prayer. High quality service for a very affordable price. I love them and i will keep them forever! They will have to photograph every event from here on, by the way they photographed my wedding. :)

Shelly Henley edited my first novel, The Cottonmouth Club, prior to its publication in 2005 by Farrar, Straus, and Giroux. Her insightful observations and spot-on suggestions resulted in a far superior manuscript than I was able to produce, even after 25 or 30 drafts. I still can't believe she convinced me to delete one of my favorite scenes, but, when you're right, you're right, and Shelly's right a depressingly high percentage of the time. On a 5-star scale, I'd rate her a 6. Lance Marcum

Jim was great, he asked me what I was looking for in the pictures of my stud standard poodle. We took about 100 shoots, in still and action with various natural lighting. The subject, Eli is two years old and very active, Jim did an excellent job bring this to life in the edited photos on my choice of output, a tumbdrive. I will be hiring Jim for future shoots, he is professional, listens, has a good eye and a fast finger. Thanks Jim. JP

I have known Linda for over 20 years now and I have always found her to be polite, courteous and professional. I am writing this testimonial to give acknowledgment of her personal touch in the resume & writing services that she gives and her integrity and ability to provide excellent service. I am here to reflect back on how genuine and heartfelt Linda is when a job is given to her and she does it with ease and always goes beyond the call of duty. I would whole-heartedly recommend her to any prospective person who is in the need of any resume or writing service. I am grateful to have found her many years ago when I needed a new, fresh and contemporary resume and also much needed professional writing services. Bravo to Linda who has an excellent work ethic in every aspect of her profession. Thank you.

Natalie was very responsive, helped locate a place to shoot, and helped me think through what I might want in head shots for a book cover/promotional material. She responded quickly to meet timelines and utilized the environment/surroundings well.

In an impressively timely manner, David Lloyd Sutton thoroughly edited my 170 paged fiction manuscript. His comments were succinct and honest. His grammatical expertise is top notch, as is his attention to detail as well as the bigger matter of plot. I recommend him highly.

Haley is a super hero! We had a very unique, detailed, and abstractly envisioned task: a commemorative tour book for the band Tower of Power's 50th Anniversary. The project needed to be designed in less than a week AND included finding a great printer that would print in the tiny timeframe ...a daunting and red-tape covered task! Haley was able to work with us and deliver an incredible product all with style and grace. She is creative, talented and dedicated - and I look forward to working with her again with the Right amount of time!

Why do I love working with Aminah? Let me count the ways! First of all, she has a brilliant visual sense and she makes all our materials look not just good, but amazing. She designed the tribute book for our Gala and it was truly a work of art that people oohed and aahed over as they came to their seats. We can look at the quality of our materials as “before Aminah” and “after Aminah,” and there’s a drastic difference. Second, she is truly collaborative! She always brings great ideas to the table but without that “my way or the highway” attitude. Her top priority seems to be my satisfaction with whatever she’s designing, so she’s flexible and easygoing about trying out my ideas as well. Third, she’s a hard worker who will do whatever it takes to bring our projects in by the deadline. And fourth – well, she’s a really nice person who in addition to all her top-notch professional skills, makes me laugh and is fun to work with. That’s what I call an unbeatable combination!

I have known Gila for many years and have worked with her on various graphic design projects, the highlight of them being the book “Grandma’s home remedies” which was a best-seller in Israel, especially because of it’s magical design. I am always on the lookout for new projects to do with her since she manifests a genuine connection to the content and essence of the current project offers, with exceptional results. I love her illustrations, with their unique line, elegance, up-beat and colorful while conveying poignant messages.

I just wrote my first book. I knew I had to start using social media to promote it, but I didn't know how. Carolyn crafted a personalized action plan (that I could actually understand and execute), and the results have been amazing. In only six short weeks, I've been contacted to write for a prominent website in my field, connected to several of my idols as an author peer, received book orders, and gotten offers to review my book when it comes out. From unknown to... known! Carolyn is warm and personable, but also professional and knowledgable. She does what she says she's going to do, and doesn't waste time. (If only my publisher had her turn-around time...) If you have a project you want to get off the ground, and you know you need social media marketing to achieve that, call Carolyn.

Angela has an amazing talent and made my wedding so beautiful! She made custom wooden signage with beautiful hand drawn calligraphy and helped me create a guest book and other graphic design work for my wedding signage. She is the sweetest girl to work with and wants everything to be just as beautiful and perfect as you want it to be! She is easy to work with, gives great input, and above all takes so much pride in her work. If you are looking for graphic design or calligraphy work, she's your girl! I will definitely use her in the future.

Glyph Publishing Arts has been one of my "go-to" resources for graphic design for more than a decade--both in my role as Publisher of Sierra Club Books (through 2014) and now as the President & CEO of Left Coast Book Works, LLC, a California-based book-packaging company. The principal at Glyph, Linda Herman, is an exceptional designer whom I have called on over the years to design not just books, but jackets & covers, ads, and all manner of promotional materials. She listens very carefully to what I'm looking for and always manages to deliver exactly what I had in mind--but with such a creative touch that I could never have come up with it myself. That's the magic of professional design! I have the highest regard for Linda and her team--and I heartily recommend Glyph Publishing Arts for all your graphic design needs.

Working with Keanan was great! He worked closely with me to develop a logo and banner for my music publishing project. He also designed and laid out cassette art for me. With his great communication, he brought finesse to my vision without going through many drafts/edits. I especially appreciate his short turnaround to meet difficult deadlines. I hope to work together on future projects!

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you hire a good grant writer?

Grants are available to nonprofit organizations, for-profit businesses that qualify for government grants, and individuals who qualify for foundation or government grants. Hiring a good grant writer can help you gain funding in your chosen field. According to the American Grant Writers’ Association, grant writers can help you research potential grant opportunities; write grant proposals, create budgets, and build budget narratives; review written materials before you submit; prepare a business plan; analyze your organization for grant competitive qualities; prepare research grants; help with 501(c)(3) applications for nonprofits; and more. Investing in the right grant writer could result in a financial win for your organization. Generally no licenses or certificates are required to be a good grant writer, but you may want to find a grant writer who has been certified (not just received a certificate of completion) by a reputable organization such as the Grant Professionals Certification Institute. Qualities to look for in a good grant writer include:

        • Proven success writing winning grants, especially in your target area.
        • Strong writing skills.
        • Strong math skills and demonstrated proficiency with budgeting.
        • Careful attention to detail — brilliant grant proposals may be rejected just for formatting errors, so you want someone who follows instructions explicitly.
        • Expertise in your target area.
        • Punctuality and good communication skills.

How much does a grant writer cost?

Hiring a grant writer can give you a competitive edge when applying for financial grants for your business or nonprofit organization, or as an individual. The cost to hire a grant writer can vary depending on their academic background, areas of expertise, previous grant writing success and years of experience. According to the Grant Professionals Association, grant writers should be paid hourly or by flat fee. It is unethical for a grant writer to accept a commission or percentage compensation of grant monies received. They can, however, be awarded bonuses in line with the hiring company’s prevailing practices. Here are some examples of average grant writing fees:

        • Hourly rate for grant writers with less experience or fewer grants awarded: $25-$35 per hour.
        • Hourly rate for grant writers with some degree of success: $35-$75 per hour.
        • Hourly rate for grant writers with proven success winning large grants: $75-$150 or more per hour.
        • For a smaller grant, the writer may charge a flat fee of $200-$500 for preparation and submission.

Pricing may also vary based on the complexity of the grant application. A federal grant that requires pages of research, budgets and a business plan may take more than 30 hours to prepare. For a high-level grant writer who charges $100 per hour, this means $3,000 or more in grant writing fees.

Most grant writers will provide you with a total cost estimate before agreeing to the work. You may be required to pay a deposit up front, or the grant writer may work from a retainer. Often, seasoned grant writers pay for themselves in the long run by writing successful grants.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
