What is a boot camp class?

Fitness boot camps are a heart-pounding way to boost your fitness level. Boot camps are led by a fitness instructor and are based on the concept of military boot camps — intensive workout programs to get new recruits into shape, quickly. Fitness boot camps encourage camaraderie, and the group momentum helps participants get through fast-paced intervals of cardio, isometric training, strength training and endurance drills. Classes may range anywhere from 30 to 60 minutes, and usually meet multiple days per week. Boot camps often run a specific duration of time, say four to six weeks, which creates a team-like environment for class members. Other boot camps run year-round and students purchase package pricing for classes, similar to subscriptions that allow them a set amount of classes per week or per month.

Boot camps can be held indoors at a gym, outdoors in a park or on a beach, in a backyard — anywhere there’s room for running, jumping and sweating. How much is a boot camp?

The cost of fitness boot camps depends on how often you go, the package you are purchasing (or if you are paying a drop-in fee), the location of the bootcamp, the equipment the instructors provide, and the background and reputation of the instructor. Smaller towns and areas with a lower cost of living typically have lower rates for boot camp services than big cities and regions with a higher cost of living. If you’re paying per class on a drop-in basis, expect to pay anywhere from $12 to $25 or more, depending on the region and the instructor. When you purchase a package of classes, typically the more you buy at one time, the cheaper each class is. The same boot camp class might be $20 for a drop-in student, $15 for a student who pays for 10 classes per month, and $10 for a student who pays for 30 classes a month. Studio space can also affect costs, so if your boot camp takes place in a high-end gym with top-of-the-line equipment, the prices will likely be higher than a class that meets in an outdoor space with limited or no equipment. Erik is a fantastic trainer. From day one he has been committed to my personal fitness journey. Not only does he push me to do the extra rep and go heavier on the next set during our sessions, he also constantly checks to make sure I stay on track on my days off. As young as he is he really embodies what a successful personal trainer should be. He is tough yet understanding (he'll kill you but he will make sure your complaints are from hard work and won't cause injury). He will boss you around but he will also be your biggest fan. He will make you hate him but you will love yourself for the results he can give you. I used to loathe going to the gym but now I go in there like I own the place, because Erik has helped me get the confidence, strength and body I never even thought I could have.

I've only recently started training with Kaytee but so far working with her is a joy. I tried two personal trainers before her. The first had little interest in me and put in minimal effort. The second didn't listen to my needs at all (tried to get me down to 14% body fat when I really wanted to be building muscle, not losing fat) and made me do a lot of things I wasnt comfortable doing. The moment I met Kaytee she asked me about my goals and changed her training routine to fit me personally. I feel that she personalizes her approach for all of her clients, and that takes dedication. She is also very good at her job. She has extensive knowledge about the science of building muscles, losing fat, etc. But she also knows how to switch up the workouts to make them fun while still being super effective. She will push you, but in the best way, because she has your health and goals in mind. She is also a really sweet lady and will take interest in you personally and make you feel welcome. You should absolutely hire her.

I walked into this gym feeling very welcomed and supported in my fitness journey....that all changed when the discussion of the pricing came up. I was not set on this personal trainer because I was looking at other places so I wasn't planning on paying for any solid classes when I went in. As soon as I saw the prices I knew I had to go home and do the math on whether or not this is the most beneficial and affordable place for me. Berto, the owner of the gym looked at me as if I was stupid when I said that I wanted to go home and not make a solid decision that day. He offers and free 10 min workout session before discussing pricing and to me it made it seem like I wasted his time when in reality don't offer a free session if you don't want clients to potentially not sign up. And as far as their Christianity, it didn't feel like they were so Christian towards me after I didn't want to sign up. I'm taking my money and time elsewhere, they offer 3 classes per week for only 30 min and $420 a month...which I think is ridiculous and a rip off. Yes it's a personal trainer but I've seen other places that are cheaper and still focus on working on the parts of your body that you want to improve for a much cheaper price. Don't waste your time going here or even considering doing the free session because most likely Berto will make you feel unwelcome if you don't sign up for a membership at the end of the free SHORT session.
