We had not had our gutters cleaned in 10 years, so this was quite a job. Not only did Francisco come the same day I called, he cleaned all gutters, took pictures of small issues on our roof and upper window frames, and exterminated a wasps nest that we were unaware of. If needed, he would have repaired gutters; but for our house this was unnecessary. Francisco also cleaned up any debris before he completed the job. We will use Francisco again in the future, for gutter clean-out, or any other type of roofing/window repair.

I had Marlon Aldiz (Limpro) remove an eisting concrete slab from the back of my house and design and install a larger (20' X 14") stamped, colored concrete patio in it's place, and a concrete walkway from the front side gate to the back alongside the house and tied onto the side of the patuio..They did a superior job from start to finish..I am so pleased that I show pictures of it to all my friends and they are really impressed with how great it looks!! I recommend Limpro to all and say many thanks to Marlon and his crew for a great job!! ps..thanks for coming back and sealing the concrete..it looks even better..John

Forrest Ponder recently completed a complete gut and renovation of our 1957 master bathroom. The renovation included installation of a bathtub, toilet, double sink vanity, a shower with glass doors, a new window replacement, and radiant tile flooring. We are very happy with the way that the project turned out and Forrest was really easy to work with. He was great at listening to our wants/needs for the project and then carrying out our vision. He was quite concerned with making sure that we were happy, and corrected anything that we were not 100% satisfied with on the first round. He was detail oriented and kept our house clean throughout the project. Our bathroom renovation turned out great, and we would highly recommend Forrest for your next project.

Mark worked for me for 4 days, painted unfinished garage, bedroom accent wall, installed 3 ceiling fans with remotes, keypad lock, garage door insulation installation. He does a great job and is prompt. When I called him back for questions about something, his attitude was good. I would use him again.

Uprising / Josue was prompt to visit our home and estimate the cost including the new window and labor installation. Josue also discussed and showed us various replacement windows options and dialed in the exact window best suited for us. No pressure, no gimmicks. Josue who you meet is who is doing the job! We had a 20-year old builder grade 2nd story window replaced in which the double pane had failed causing condensation as well the window had been leaking for years; a problem no other window technician could duplicate or diagnose. We highly recommended Josue. For the window replacement we received numerous online quotes, as well Home Depot directly. Josue’s cost was competitive with others and actually about $50 cheaper on the install. Quick turn-around time, great communication and excellent installation job. He left the work area cleaner than when we arrived!

Daniel and his crew were great to work with. They estimated up to a week of work for my project but were able to complete it within 3 days. They successfully completed my vision for the new wall, window, and pocket door. They are perfectionists and were quick to take something down and re do it when it wasn't working out just right.

Ryan did a great job with the prehung door replacement including moulding, and didn't leave until he was satisfied with how it closed. He was accommodating of my schedule as I had to be out of town, and got the job done in a day. I would recommend him to anyone who wants quality work done. He is a Craftsman, not a handyman.

Despite some car problems everything got moved in and not damaged! They moved an extremely heavy entertainment center out of the truck and into the basement of our new house, no easy feat! So polite and always asked where something should go rather than just putting it somewhere. Worked non stop hardly taking breaks and had everything in in just a few hours. Thanks again!

I had the pleasure of using Prestige Windows for our new windows and doors in our home! They went above and beyond what a typical window company would do! Our windows arrived and were installed in a very short time frame around around 2 1/2 to 3 weeks! The installers were clean and nice and did an excellent job! They also corresponded with me during the entire time of shipping letting me know updates! I love the the quality of these windows and doors! I would highly recommend them to anyone putting Windows or doors in!

Conservation Construction designed and installed 10 windows for our porch, turning a simple patio into a cozy sunroom. On the day the deal was closed a horrible "horizontal tornado" slashed through our neighborhood, smashing the original front window and making a terrible mess inside our living room. By 8 A.M. the next morning, Conservation Construction was there measuring for our beautiful new picture window replacement with sliding side windows and screens. Quick, efficient, pleasant to deal with, reasonable in price, with a high quality customized product - this is why we highly recommend Conservation Construction. Jim Davis Lakewood, CO

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do you replace a window?

You may want to replace a window if the glass has been damaged, you’re remodeling a room, or you want to upgrade your energy efficiency as well as your style by getting rid of those drafty single panes that are losing you money. When replacing a window, you can remove and replace the entire window down to the house frame. This method is best if the existing frame is damaged or deteriorating, but requires construction skills and know-how and will take more time and money. An easier and less expensive option is to install an insert replacement window into the existing frame. Insert replacements are only an option if your window frame is in good condition without rot or damage.

When replacing an entire window, first you’ll carefully remove the existing window with a pry bar and other tools. Next, you’ll make any repairs and adjustments needed to the existing frame or header and studs to ensure that the space is perfectly plumb and square, so the new window will sit perfectly within the space. Next, install the new window from the exterior, securing it into place. You’ll need to precisely wrap and insulate the window to ensure it doesn’t leak. Then, install the interior casing and exterior trim (as needed). If you prefer to hire a professional to install a window, consider replacing more than one window at a time, as the pro can work more efficiently.

How much is a custom window?

Choosing custom windows will increase your window installation cost but will provide you with exactly what you want. The average national cost for window installation is $2,650. Your custom window costs will vary based on several factors. The first factor is the type of frame you want. The four most common types of frames are vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum and wood. Wood is typically the most expensive option, followed by aluminum. The type of glass you select will also affect cost. There are single-, double- and triple-pane windows. Most double- and triple-pane windows have gas sealed between the panes that act as insulation. Windows typically cost more the more energy-efficient they are, though this efficiency can save you money on utility bills in the long run. The type of glass used can also affect cost. There are different grades of glass — high-performance glass, low-e coated glass, and more — which all provide you with better insulation. In addition, the number of unified inches (window height x window width) you need will affect cost. The cost of custom windows will also be affected by installation cost and whether any repair or construction work is required to properly fit the new window.

How much would it cost to put in new windows?

The cost to replace a window can vary depending on factors such as window size, type of glass, brand of window, necessary trim repair, and any construction work required for installation. Labor rates and cost to do business in your region will also affect the cost. The national average window installation cost is $2,650 per project. Here are some examples of average trim repair and window replacement costs:

  • Trim repair:
    • Line and case a window frame with an MDF product: $400.
    • Line and case a window frame with raw hemlock wood: $500.
  • Approximate cost to install five windows at one time: $3,000.
  • Approximate cost to install one double-hung, energy-efficient 3-foot by 4-foot window: $500-$550.
    • For the same window size (3-foot by 4-foot) from a different manufacturer made with a specialty fiberglass exterior and all-wood interior, the cost could go up to $1,500.
    • Pricing can go as high as $5,000 for a bay or bow window with specialty glass and framing.
      • These examples include removal and disposal of old materials and window.
