After two years of searching for someone who could help establish my "brand," I finally heard Marian Rothschild speak at a writing function and knew that I had found the right person. Unlike many other image consultants Ive seen, Marian is capable of constructively critiquing the broad picture-- not in her own image, but as appropriate for the client. During our first consultation, Marian did an amazing analysis of my website and personal expression, in addition to providing useful and essential commentary on my grooming and wardrobe. For the first time in years, I had coworkers remarking, "What a cute outfit!" Her work continues to pay dividends. My eye doctor, who hadn't seen me for two years, exclaimed upon entering the room, "You look younger than when I last saw you!" Wow. Oh my gosh, YES! I am an executive leader with graduate degrees and a successful family. I was extremely frustrated with my hair, my clothes, my overall appearance. I knew I could do better and after years of failed attempts and wasted money I searched for professional help. I found Marian by luck. Marian is amazing. What’s special about Marian is she takes time to figure out who you are and what you want to be, then helps you adapt your image to match your goals. Like a character in a play, Marian makes you right. What is magic to me, is second nature to Marian. Updating your look requires retraining your brain. Every morning I hear Marian’s words about color, lines, texture, and shapes. She gently shared underground tricks of the trade, which I had no clue existed. I am proud to say I am starting to understand and the results are tremendously satisfying. I love my new glasses, stylish hand-bag, my hair (!), and the impact of those secret tricks. Marian transformed a daunting task (upgrading my clothing) into a fun and encouraging experience. Along with conducting an inventory of my existing clothing - and shopping for additional items, she also gave me an understanding of "what works" and "why." Marian was superb in helping our 16 year granddaughter with makeup, body image, color and style tips appropriate for her age. She did this by listening thoughtfully to Laura’s input, showing her what makeup to use for daytime that complimented her skin and eye color on half her face and then having Laura practice applying to the other side. She emphasized posture and tactfully stressed avoiding mannerisms that distract from a message. (Often those a Mom stresses but coming from a professional the words had an impact.) Shopping was fun because Marian’s pre-selected items prompted Laura to try new styles and colors which she liked. Laura returned home with new fashion knowledge, self-awareness and a back-to-school wardrobe. We would highly recommend Marian Rothschild. MR

My girlfriend had been talking about improving her fashion/style/dress so I bought her an image consulting package for her birthday. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
My service packages are the best way to get the best deal. The bigger package of services, the more money you save. You can check out my image service packages for men and women on my website, marianrothschild.com. Basically, my fees are $125.00 per hour, but in packages, and for Thumbtack clients, that price goes down to about $97.
What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
First we have a phone consultation so I can understand your needs. You receive four documents to begin the style and image analysis process. Then we meet, review the information with plenty of helpful advice. Then we take a look at your closet, do some edits and matchups and create a shopping list. From that, we go shopping to fill in what's needed for the looks you want for work and weekends. Women have a makeup lesson, and everyone has the option of additional coaching on verbal and nonverbal communication.
What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Former professional actor, dancer and model. Attended Northern and Western Illinois Universities. Trained and Certified by AICI, Association of Image Consultants International, National Speakers Association Academy, Executive Presence coaching training.
