The Good: Moving Pros was a good value for the cost. They were on time, the driver called me 25 minutes prior to arrival, and they were successful in getting what we needed moved in a timely fashion. The two men we very professional and freindly. They were also very helpful is getting a box spring up and over the balcony as it would not fit up the stairs, as well as a large (and HEAVY!) sleeper couch in through a narrow door way. They worked with a sense of urgency for the most part as well. The also were patient and kind to my small dog, who was desperate to befirend them and wiggled away from me a few times. The Bad: They left a large gash in my banister from banging my antique dresser into it. Some paint was chipped from the front door frame, and the front door was dented from moving items through it. The way I understand the insurance policy, we are out of luck in these cases. As a result of these instances, I did not have them move most of our belonging into our new house, and had them unload into the garage instead, and moved them in ourselves. Their insurance offering is the minimum required by law ($0.60 per pound) but was not really comprehensive in any way. You can purhcse additional insurance for items of higher value for $18 per $1,000. For my move they were not asked to move anything of value, monetary or sentimental. Overall: While the damage to our former home was dissappointing, I did find the men who did our move to be very pleasant and easy to work with. The job was not very costly as well. I would recommend these movers for local jobs, in which you have the ability to move valuable items yourself.

Mike and Jake were STELLAR! From the time they arrived at my apartment to the time they left my new house it was an hour and 10 minutes of efficient, thoughtful, clearly communicated work. Everything arrived safely and they even helped pack my new road bike with as much care and precision as I would myself. If you're looking for movers for a local move, I 100% recommend Xtreme Moving!

Overall, our experience with working with Carlson Custom Interiors was great. Jessica worked with me and was very flexible in the scheduling of the move. She was also accessible, when I called she would either email or call right back. The movers, while they were about 30 minutes later than expected, were also great. Very friendly, efficient, and handled our furniture with care.

The manager Joe was awesome..One of the movers had a slight smart mouth and I understand moving is hard especially up and down stairs.. Some things that I asked were ignored but I was also stressing that my budget only allowed so much.. It only went over $100.00 so it was bearable.. I would recommend Joe and the crew..But not some of the smart comments from 1 of the movers..He was too comfortable speaking his mind..I may not have been dressed in a suit because I was moving but I do have good sense...Low damage thank god.. Had to vent but would recommend..

What can't I say about the amazing team at Dirty Deeds? This company is great to work with from start to finish. The wonderful customer service starts with Stefani (the officer manager & owner) who completed our quote in person (if you're lucky enough to work with her before she goes out on maternity leave... Well that is it in a nutshell, you're lucky!). Stefani was responsive to all the questions I peppered at her. Then she came to our home in order to complete an onsite estimate, which was reassuring to me to know they knew exactly what would be involved in the move. In trying to guesstimate how many boxes it would take to move us, she was able to help us estimate that as well. Our closing date changed, which affected our moving date. Stefani was accommodating and understand, while giving us multiple options for available dates to move around our new closing date. Then she called the night before our move to verify the team would be at the house and at a specific timeframe. On the day of our move, we had 6 very energetic & friendly movers, including Jeremy the owner (Stefani's husband). From the moment they stepped foot into our home, they each introduced themselves, shook our hands, asked for a tour of the house and were grabbing boxes during the tour. They were very professional and handled our belongings with care. There was one small ding on a corner of our wall (which was very easy to repair) and the one mover kept apologized throughout the day about it. The moulding of my desk was accidently cracked during the move, Jeremy immediate advised me of it, apologized and said they would fix when they returned 2 days later, which they did! Finally due to all the chaos around our closing, I forgot to have a pod delivered prior to moving day for the guys to empty for us at our new home. Stefani (again being very understanding, flexible, & accommodating) helped us schedule 2 guys to come back 2 days later to empty the pod when it was delivered. When the guys came back to empty the pod & fix my desk, it was at no charge due to the cracked moulding. This was their way of saying they were sorry, above and beyond of what they had already said in person. This was very unexpected! Because of this our move came in slightly less than quoted, and due this team being so efficient and hard working. They were very pleasant & easy to work with! I would refer any & everyone to them! While I hate moving with a passion, Dirty Deeds Moving Co. makes it much easier! Thank you!

This was my first time ever having movers help with a move. The main reason for this was moving to a third story apartment and it being Super Bowl Sunday. The weather definitely took a turn Saturday night and we woke up to snow and 19 degrees. Bret, Brayden, and Kris were there on time and started immediately after conducting a walk through first. They were energetic, fun, and respectful. They moved super quick as well! I kept receiving estimates from other movers as well as Skyline stating it could take 6-8 hours. They only took 5 hours! I would highly recommend Skyline Moving Company. Knowing that they (1) only charge an hourly rate, (2) do not charge for shrink wrap, (3) offer 5% military discount, and (4) are fast and friendly; I would highly recommend them!

Although the movers were a little late and it took longer than expected, both guys made sure my things made it safely to the new apartment. My boxes were loaded, organized, and unloaded very precisely - nothing was broken or damaged. They also provided all the tools/equipment needed and helped set up furniture. Julianna was great at communicating with me throughout the process and very responsive. Definitely the best priced movers I was able to find in Denver!

I hired 303 Movers to move my studio apartment from Longmont to downtown Denver. They took great care of my stuff, not a single thing was damaged in the move. They were friendly, and timely. I was so happy to have someone else do all the lifting and moving for me. Price was great too! I will definitely use them again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do moving companies do?

Moving companies provide a range of services to help you physically move out of one residence and move into a new place. But moving companies can do so much more than just haul your belongings across town in a truck. The national average for moving company prices ($250-$350 per hour) reflects the range of services provided. Here are examples of all the ways moving companies can help:

  • Packing: Moving companies can pack your belongings for you. They typically charge a flat rate for both the box and the labor to pack the box. The more time-consuming the belongings are to pack, the higher the cost per box. For example, books could be $5 per box, linens $10 per box, and fine china and glassware $18 per box.
  • Specialty moving: Safely move a baby grand piano, a oversize aquarium, or other specialty items with the help of pro movers.
  • Storage: Many moving companies can store your belongings while you wait for a new home to be remodeled or closing of your new home to be finalized. If you’re moving long-distance, they often provide short-term storage free for a specific length of time, and a set rate after that (such as $60 per square cubic foot of storage space used).
  • Long-distance moves: No need to rent a trailer and move your things; a long-distance moving company can haul your belongings across the country for you. Typically they charge by the cubic foot for moves, with prices based on your destination.
  • Unpacking: Moving companies can even unpack your belongings for you after they have moved them. This is not as common, and will definitely increase the price, but can be helpful if you’re not able to tackle this task yourself.

How much does a moving company charge per hour?

When you’re ready to make a major move, it’s time to research moving companies’ prices. A moving company may charge on average anywhere between $25 and $100 per hour, per worker, for moving services. The price will vary with regional labor rates, local cost to do business, and the level of service the movers are providing. Nationally, the average hourly rate for a moving company is $250-$350 per hour. This price includes a range of pricing, from all-in service with four or more movers on site to standard hourly rates for one or two movers. Other factors that affect moving companies’ prices are packing, stairs (or elevators), and distance. For a full-service move, you pay movers to pack your belongings for you. You may pay for the cost of the moving boxes and an hourly rate per worker, and there may be additional charges for packing fragile items. Stairs will also add to your moving prices. Lifting and carrying boxes and furniture up and down stairs takes more time and creates more physical labor for the workers. Moving companies may charge flat rates for flights of stairs, such as $50-$70 per flight. A moving company may also charge a one-time fee for moving things via elevator, such as $75-$100. If parking is not accessible in front of your home or apartment building, there may also be an additional fee for the added distance to carry your belongings to the truck.
