The repairman came within an hour and had the job done very quickly. He was honest about what caused the fuse in the dryer to fail and what we can do to prevent it from happening again. I would use this company again for any appliance repair issues.

Dave and Junior did a good job removing our old appliances. They did the installation in a reasonable amount of time. They were flexible and able to solve the instal and connection problems. My only suggestion is that they be more careful of woodwork. Three of the screws into the wood cabinets around the oven, split the wood because they didn't pre-drill the holes with a small drill bit. Other than that, they were very helpful and very pleasant to work with.

Matt did a great job for us on a couple of repairs including reinstalling hinges and re-mounting of a rather large oven hood cover panel. We also had a garage door that was barely having on its hinges, preventing the door from closing. He was able to reinforce the hinges and the door now closes better than it ever has. Would highly recommend Lexi-Assist Handyman services.

We had a fantastic experience with StoptheLeak. We called Kyle at StoptheLeak about a inop water heater. Another vendor had quoted us $thousands to replace it entirely and insisted it was too old to repair. Kyle not only responded immediately to our request, but agreed to come over immediately and take a look. He identified the problem and provided us multiple options for repair or replacement. He was even willing to stay through the night to get our hot water restored. Within a day, we had hot water back, a repaired gas leak, and a working system. Please call Kyle, he's professional and easy to work with, explains things thoroughly, and won't try to rip you off!

I would highly recommend AAG Appliance Repair! Adam came out to our house to repair our refrigerator and he came out within 24 hours and fixed our issue right away. He doesn't try to upsell and offered us very sound advice; we felt he was very fair and competitive with what he charged us. We definitely appreciate that when so many others try to sell you things you don't need. Adam is extremely professional and we will always use his services for any appliance repair we have in the future. Thanks again!

I hired Bob from Handyman Professional Services to repair 28 ft of fence that had blown down. Bob was fast at responding to my post and quickly came to give a bid. He gave a very professional written bid and was in constant communication about the job. Him and his crew did a great job on the fence only took 2 days to complete.

I was very pleased with the work done by Greg of Nightowl Appliance. He was the technician who worked on my Whirlpool ED22RF refrigerator. My overall rating is a "5 .0." Greg called me just prior to his arrival at my home to let me know he was 6 minutes away from my house. He diagnosed and isolated the problem with a 100% certainty for the needed thermostat switch component by temporarily bypassing the switch to prove it was the problem. The service was punctual and responsive. The repair was completed within a few hours on the same day, which also includes the time to pick-up the required part. I found the repair cost to be quite reasonable for the work that was done and would recommend Nightowl to all my friends and family.

I had Jeff come and look at my dryer he diagnosed the problem easily, as it was a problem that would cost more than a new machine he sold me a great set and cleaned out my dryer vents for a very reasonable price. Highly recommend his service

        Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

        • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
        • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
        • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

        How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
