I started training with Dana recently and have definitely seen results! She designed a nutrition program for me that has improved my diet and given me more energy, and has helped improve my flexibility and strength by teaching me several exercises that I can also do on my own. She is an easy going person, but pushes me at the same time. I recommend Dana to anyone who wants to get into better shape, improve their strength and flexibility, meet their goals, and enjoy working out at the same time! Ken G.

Casey is so wonderful! She has broad knowledge that she adeptly applies to all different aspects of physical and nutritional health, she is attentive to individual needs and flexible in meeting them, she is kind and warm and friendly, she holds a great balance of motivational intensity and of gentleness, and she genuinely cares about the people she is working with and about doing her job as well as she can. The work I do with Casey is safe, extremely personalized, optimistic, realistic, and focused on my health as a whole person. Working with her is convenient (she meets me right near where I live!), not too expensive, and something I look forward to. Casey is the best; you should definitely consider working with her. :)

Morgan helped me plan a nutrition program based on macros around my current activity level and goals. He gave me a clear set of goals to reach and once I started following his recommendations, especially getting enough protein, my workouts got stronger, I didn't feel tired all the time, and I've definitely noticed a change in my body. I've lost inches around my waist and am down a few pounds while still gaining/maintaining muscle. Great guy, very knowledgable, very passionate.

sha Shanon was the only one that really gave me a quick overview about belly fat that I mentioned was a problem. He talked about nutrition as well as the exercise program and hormones that captured my attention. Did an outstanding job in explaining how it all goes together.

Chealsea was awesome! She had a great easy going personality so explaining my goals was comfortable- I didn’t feel judged even when workout was tough. She targeted areas I wanted to focus on and also helped me set goals, for strength and nutrition as well. I highly recommend going with her- she’ll give you a kickass workout too. I look forward to my future trainings with her!

Fitness Revolution is the one and only program that has ever actually worked for me. The fitness and nutrition program really taught me what works and what doesn't for my body. The guidance and support throughout my experience has been priceless to me. Since being with Bobby and Fitness Revolution I have lost 80lbs in a year. His program actually works!

Christina visited our work site to present an hour long nutrition session. From the beginning, she was very responsive and incredibly professional. The employees who attended the session all said they walked away with valuable information and asked to have her back for more presentations. We will absolutely be working with her again!

Ruthie has counseled me in women’s health for a little over a year now and all I can say is thank you! I only wish I had all the information she has provided me earlier in my life. She has helped me understand my cycle, identify when things aren’t in alignment with my body, and I now make more conscious decisions when it comes to the food I am eating. If you are looking for some guidance in anything related to woman’s health and nutrition I highly recommend reaching out to Ruthie B Lightner!

Kaitlyn was a wonder to work with. She is easy to talk to and well educated on the subject with incredible insight. I have had arthritis most of my life and she was able to pinpoint ways I can improve my overall health and comfort through nutrition. I am also a vegetarian and she tailored my experience to match. I can not recommend her enough!

Amanda has been a tremendously positive and friendly guide in the evolution of my eating and nutrition habits. From our first meeting to discuss my goals and my general overall health, Amanda has been knowledgeable, understanding, gentle and flexible. She understands that there is not one “plan” which works for everyone. Her approach is not to make up rules and give you a list of restrictions, but to gently guide you into working better nutrition and sustainable habits into your lifestyle. Each step of the way Amanda encouraged my efforts and applauded my creativity and sensitively helped me when I got stuck. Throughout the seven months of consultation with Amanda, I definitely feel her approach and her flexible inclusive programs are excellent value and offer plans for getting started and for maintaining the coaching and accountability.

Jessica has been amazing! I started seeing her for nutritional coaching over a year ago. She has taught me proper nutrition, stress management tips and how to deal with emotional eating. With her guidance, I have been able to lose and keep off 20lbs for more than six months! She has been incredible through all of this. She is caring, compassionate and extremely knowledgable. I would recommend her to anyone who is looking to better their health in any way!

Natalie is one of the most uplifting and wonderful people I have had the pleasure to know. Every time I spend time with her I feel more healthy! She focuses on not just nutrition and exercise but on the whole person in her session. If you are looking for someone to help you feel better about both your outside and your insides she is the person to see. I can't sing my praises loud enough for Natalie Sobieray!

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does a nutritionist cost?

A nutritionist provides expertise and guidance to help clients with all diet-related health matters, including losing weight, gaining muscle, improving their sports performance, and managing diabetes or high cholesterol. Nutritionists can help people learn to follow special diets in a healthy way, such as becoming vegetarian or vegan or developing a low-sodium or gluten-free eating plan. The average national cost of a nutritionist is $60 to $100. Nutritionists often require an initial consultation with a new client, during which they’ll take a medical history, assess the client’s nutritional needs, and determine the best course of action; this first meeting usually averages $100-$120 for a 45-minute to 90-minute consultation. Subsequent nutritional counseling sessions generally cost less, ranging from an average of $45 for a half-hour session to $60-$90 for a one-hour session. Like many professional service providers, nutritionists may offer discounts through package pricing. For instance, a one-month package with two sessions and email support costs an average of $190; a three-month package with three sessions and email support costs an average of $360; and a six-month package with six sessions and email support costs an average of $540.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.

Are nutritionists covered by health insurance?

Nutrition counseling can be a critical component of good health care, especially for people recently diagnosed with diabetes or high cholesterol who need to adhere to a specific diet. People also meet with nutritionists for help developing a healthy vegetarian or vegan diet, developing an eating plan to lose weight or gain muscle, or improving their sports performance by changing their diet. Nutritionists may be covered by health insurance depending on your reason for meeting with them. Nutrition counseling is more likely to be covered if it is part of a doctor-prescribed treatment for a particular medical condition, such as diabetes, obesity, high blood pressure or coronary heart disease. For example, Medicare covers medical nutrition therapy services only for people diagnosed with diabetes or kidney disease, as long as they get a referral from their doctor. Also, insurance providers more often cover nutrition visits if the patient has been referred to a registered dietitian within the carrier’s network of providers. Insurance plans vary greatly, so research your benefits before visiting a nutritionist.
