My husband and I decided to take dance lessons a few months before our wedding. Because we are a same-sex couple, we wanted to be selective in choosing an instructor. We came across Sherry’s name online, and she did not disappoint. Not only did she make us feel comfortable in her studio, but she made us feel comfortable dancing in front of our family and friends. My husband has no dance experience and I had limited couples dance experience. Sherry began by teaching us some basic steps and quickly began to choreograph our first dance. Sherry was not only able to create our first slow dance (the foxy) in this short amount of time, she also choreographed a fast dance (the salsa) that knocked our guests off their feet. These numbers were created with such loving care and matched our personalities perfectly; we did not miss a beat. We had so much fun working with Sherry throughout this process, we have decided to become life-long students and have continued lessons. We would recommend Sherry to anyone who is looking for that special first dance, or for someone who simply wants to have fun and learn to dance. Sherry is not just our dance instructor, she is a dear friend and we highly recommend her services.

We are enjoying our country and western dance lessons with Cathy so much! Learning things I never knew (former Texan) about country dancing. Other classmates are very nice and friendly. Cathy teaches in a very logical manner that is helping us learn and retain the instructions!

Brooks'n'Friends were an amazing part of our wedding reception! We had a wide variety of ages (0-95) and the music was enjoyed by all. They were incredibly friendly, timely, and went above and beyond expectations. I highly recommend them for any party you might be throwing! The songs were timeless classics that everyone sang could sing and dance along to. All my song requests were met beautifully :) The experience was incredible and very special! THANK YOU ALL for the lovely night of music and dancing and laughter!

Kristi is a really experienced hands-on kind of teacher who knows how to make learning fun! Her classes are never dull or boring - there's no learning by rote here, Kristi tells the what, where, when, why and how of stepping out in style, whatever kind of dance she's teaching. Let her teach you and/or your kids how to put your best foot forward in ballroom or social dancing - you'll be glad you did!

Corbin, was an excellent teacher for my daughter and I. He corrected any mistakes we were making instead of allowing them to continue to become bad habits. He worked with us patiently allowing us the time to practice until we got what he was telling us. He used humor and was quite professional in his manners so that we never felt uncomfortable. I enjoyed the lessons and always looked forward to the next one.

I was less than a month out from my wedding when I was frantically looking for a dance instructor with a studio. Abram was the first to respond to my request and was super helpful/accommodating in coordinating the lessons. Lorenzo was our actual dance instructor who was just fabulous!! To this day, my dad and I talk about what a great experience it was. Lorenzo is fun, energetic, and can take any song and turn it into magic. Since my dad and I weren't experienced dancers - he was able to simplify all of the moves making it fun and less frustrating. Lorenzo and Abram are a dynamic duo! I'll be referring all my friends/family and anyone looking for theatrical or dance help!

Alexandra Hutt is a current Juilliard dancer with a background in both classical and contemporary ballet. Alexandra is willing to work individually with students on ballet, technique or contemporary.

I run a project about women's empowerment trought dance. Belly and tribal dance are especially powerful for women due to their wave movements which helps women to reconnect with their bodies. I am a qualified teacher from Spain. I have used my dance skills both to teach and to dance on stages in shows and concerts. I teach also salsa dance for individual dance, sexy dance, and world fitness dance, which are short and easy choreografies from different rythms of the world designed to work-out and have fun. I have learned several different dance styles that I use for my shows such as jazz, tribal, rask shakti, gypsy, funky, sexy and ballroom dances such as salsa, waltz, mambo, cha-cha-cha... I also use dance as a meditative tool with dances such as derviches dance or kirtams.

DanceArt Academy is a dance studio located in Northern Colorado Springs. The studio began with a few home-school students looking for something a little bit different. It quickly expanded to more than a few and not just home-school students. The littlest at age 2 delighted in watching the 16 year old en pointe, and the Academy grew. We are stepping into the lights of the Colorado Dance arena with much hope and trust that we can provide a delightful experience for all who wish to explore the world of dance! From the 2-year old who just wants to spin to the advanced and pre-professional aspiring dancer who wants to be challenged and in the studio everyday, we have something to offer everyone. We have a well-rounded and professional staff ready to teach, inspire and encourage the dancer in your life. Come, experience DanceArt Academy and be one of our shining stars! We look forward to cheering you on.

Our instructors are all internationally trained in their area of expertise. Their goal is to teach you how to dance correctly the first time, not suck your money from your wallets.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do dance lessons cost?

Adults who want to learn to dance, whether to prepare for a wedding or to meet new people, often enjoy taking dance lessons from an experienced dance instructor. Instructors may offer classes one-on-one to individual students or couples, or to small groups. The national average cost for a dance instructor ranges from $30 to $50. Some studios offer a discounted introductory lessons or group lessons, as well as package deals that are more affordable than paying for individual lessons. Some dance instructors will travel to the student’s home, which usually costs more, while others hold small-group sessions in their studios. If you choose a small-group class, expect to pay less than for individual dance lessons.
