I needed my townhome kitchen completely ripped out and redone to create a better floor plan and make it more usable. I needed two walls ripped out, cabinets installed, a kitchen island built, counters tiled, floor tiled, walls patched and painted, light fixtures updated, appliances installed...the whole 9 yards! Aviv Tile and Remodeling did a fantastic job...I'd recommend them to anyone! Lee (Mr. Aviv) worked with me on all my design choices every step of the way. He made suggestions based on whether I wanted things to "look pretty" or last forever, and managed to make it do both! When I was confused about my kitchen layout options, he drew up a floor plan and put the whole thing in photoshop, so I could see what it would look like before it was built! He was professional, prompt, clean, respectful, and gave me the best customer service I've ever experienced--even when I changed my mind on the design a million times. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

I have been working with Russell for close to 15 years. The beginning, middle and end product is always amazing. Russ will pay very close attention to detail and listen's to the homeowners wants and needs so in the end when the home is completed it is quite rewarding. I would highly recommend any homeowner looking for a custom home design to start here.

Jodi is extremely educated about blueprints and all aspects of being an Architect. At first i was hesitant about spending money on a project that i knew nothing about, but then I gave Jodi a call and she promptly met with me after business hours. I am so thankful that Jodi came and met me to discuss my needs in reading architectural designs and being able to submit a bid to a contractor that gave me very little time to complete. WOW, is all I can say. I went from being completely confused to being completely confidant in my current blueprint needs and future ones to come. In just a few hours, she had me educated and confidant in something so complex. Thank you Jodi, I cant wait to learn more from you.

Eva was very sweet, and gave me some good ideas for workflow and materials for my low budget project. I am sure I am going to use her ideas. I just needed help with figuring out how to organize my low budget kitchen, living room project. One thought is that Eva might have made some positive comment about my house. Small wins. I know it needs a total redo, but she made no positive comments at all. I am busy and short on resources. My house shows it. Eva was on time and stayed the two hours that I requested.

Exceeding the expectations of the client.

We complete the engineering and design of component parts. We welded assemblies and mechanical assemblies using SolidWorks 2008 CAD design package.

I design new homes, additions and remodeling. You will see your home or addition in picture and realistic 3D renderings before you pick a final design and floor plan. Your plans will be prepared for permit and construction. I can also get the engineering and soil tests done for you. I have over 28 years of experience building home and additions. I know how constructions goes together. I know how to design your project within your budget.

I cover all things wood. I do the design to the standards of the Pikes Peak Regional Building Department. The design and plans are drawn at every elevation, and every section of the design is separate for permit applications. For example, a deck would include the footer drawing, frame drawing, height drawing, floor covering drawing, safety rail drawing, electrical outline, etc. I will not duplicate your design. I do not believe in cookie-cutter plans. Everybody should be able to express their wants and own personal taste.

I provide a cheap drafting and modeling service for those who wish to make creative little knickknacks or an innovative assembly. I work with clients who have ideas and turn those ideas into reality by drafting at home then sending the drawing to a 3rd party for manufacturing. Most 3rd-party manufacturers charge a fee ranging anywhere between $0 and $100 for someone to make your part. To be honest, the designer usually chooses his/her pay (My services are 100% cheaper). The costs vary depending on the size of the part and its material. I make zero profit because experience is a greater prize.

I have been building new homes and remodeling homes in the United States and Canada for 26 years. The many years established and the different locations and environments where I have worked have given me the opportunity to test and prove the many styles and techniques needed in proficient home building and renovations as well as the different materials applied and installed that are sometimes necessary in locations where weather and surroundings must be considered. I enjoy my profession and helping new and returning clients meet their expectations for their desired home improvement projects.

I do everything, from dream rooms, hidden stash spots and deck and yard transformations to that special piece of furniture. If you just want it to shine anew, I can refinish, change the color, touch it up or remove it, replace it and rebuild it. The only limits are the ones you set. Simply, I enjoy remodeling. I take pride in a job well done and truly love to make someone happy. To build you what you want or need just the way you always wanted it is indeed a tremendous delight for you and for myself. Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

    How do architects work?

Architects may work for an architecture or engineering firm, they may work for a government organization, they can work for a construction company, or they may be self-employed (freelance). The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics explains that architects spend a large amount of their working time in the home or company office: meeting with clients; creating reports and architectural drawings; and working with other architects and engineers. When not in an office, an architect is often at the construction site either as part of the development of plans or to ensure building progress is following the blueprint.

When a client interacts with an architect, it is typically to have them design drawings for the construction of a house or a building. If you are a client who has hired a large architecture firm, there may be a team of people working on your design. But if you are working with a freelance architect or a smaller firm, one person (or a small group) will take your concept and translate it into an architectural blueprint that a builder can use to construct a house. The plans will lay out everything from the depth of the foundation to the materials to use to the type of metal to be used in the reinforcement. Once the plans have been created and handed off to the builder, the architect may remain on the project — depending on budget — and oversee progress.

How do architects charge for their services?

According to the U.S. Department of Labor, the median salary of an architect in 2016 was $76,930. This range included architects with every type of company as well as self-employed architects. Depending on the architect and whether they’re with a firm or independent, they may charge per hour or by the square foot, or they may charge a percentage of the total budget for a construction project. An hourly rate is typically used for smaller projects such as providing consultation, helping clients hone their concept before the design process begins, or drafting documents and plans. If an architect is working on an hourly basis on a larger project, there will usually be an agreed-upon cap on the number of hours they will work. For larger projects, such as new construction or total overhaul remodels, architects may charge a percentage of the total construction costs. The architect will usually set the percentage you will pay after the total cost of construction has been accounted for. Percentages can range within a firm depending on the extent of the services they’re providing. For example, a lower percentage of the total construction costs may include drafting and minimal consultation and guidance along the way, while a higher percentage could include on-site project management services with every detail attended to. Architects may also charge by the square footage of the project. The rate per square foot can vary depending on the individual’s training, the services they are providing, the complexity of the project, and other factors — such as obtaining permits. The national average cost to hire an architect is between $1,690 and $2,500.
