Introduction: Hey there! My name is El-Ad Cohen. I am a Certified Personal Trainer (American College of Sports Medicine) and completed clinical training as a physical therapist in Israel (Bachelor's of Physical Therapy, University of Haifa) and am currently completing a Transitional Doctorate of Physical Therapy here in Colorado. My background is as a physical therapist, a martial artist, a dancer, and a soldier (IDF). I take a minimalist approach to fitness and training that doesn't require gym access or loads of time. I've worked as a trainer and a health coach for clients from all walks of life, from athletes to busy parents, recent rehabilitation patients to people looking to bulletproof their health. I am fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19. Let's talk. Your first session is free! Other Services Health Coaching: If you are ready to take an evidence based approach to your health and iterate your way towards better well being, I'd be happy to assist. Translation and Language Lessons: I grew up speaking Hebrew and English and lived in Israel for 10 years before relocating to the Denver area. While I was there I worked as an academic editor and translator in social and life sciences. Since working with Tempest Training I’ve noticed working out doesn’t feel like an obligation, and I actually look forward to learning new techniques. It is incredible how Physical Therapy and Strength work outs go hand in hand for each session. My body is stronger and feels more agile. I am staying committed and the means that I feel the benefits in my everyday life too!
Tempest Training's reply

I have been seeing him for about two months now and I’ve seen a good amount of improvement. He has a physical therapy background which is useful. We’ve been able to figure out that I’m stronger than I realize and a lot of my workouts with him are now about learning how to activate certain muscles and my coordination. I haven’t had an experience like this with other trainers. A lot of trainers would have me just show up and do the workout they have planned for me and then not really explain why we were doing it. He will overload you with knowledge if you want to know everything about the human body. I enjoy our weekly meetings and like having someone that I need to answer to. It helps me stay focused and excited about getting stronger and healthier.

I went through a couple trainers before finding El-Ad, and he’s for sure my favorite! I’ve seen such progress. He has great energy, pushes me, and knows my limits. I would definitely highly recommend him to anyone! Thanks El-Ad!

Very knowledgeable, had lots of pointers both for exercises and diet to help me achieve my goal, and was able to provide a full workout that I can do with my minimal home equipment

I had a recurring shoulder and knees pains from different sports such as climbing, running, etc.. which I would take time off to let it rest and try to recover then repeat... So I wanted to change it, something wasn't good. First thing we talked to see what I'm doing, where and pain is and how bad it is, then we did bunch of tests to pinpoint what's actually going on. Helped me to release some tightness(which made me feel better in no time) and gave me homework, after doing them for a while began feeling stronger and better! Also while having the session he explained why and how we do stuff with thus I could actually understand how it's helping even with my basic knowledge. Would definitely recommend! Also such a nice guy :)

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I typically start off with an introductory discussion (20 minutes or less over the phone) to help me understand my clients goals and history, then we schedule a free introductory session. I am also happy to discuss a sliding scale when appropriate.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

After an initial assessment and introductory session and movement screening, we build a strategic plan for getting you where you want to go and establish an initial schedule. We adjust from there based on the ups and downs of life, with a reassessment where we also decide if we want to change tack at about 6 weeks. The process is an iterative one, overall that is the general shape of it.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

In terms of physical training: I am a Certified Personal Trainer with the American College of Sports Medicine and I am licensed Physical Therapist in Israel and am working on my DPT here in Denver. I was a competitive martial artists growing up, I have a total of 16 years of martial arts training. I run half marathon distances. I've danced since I was young. I served in the military in a combat reconnaissance unit.
