Sandi is amazing! My husband hired hired her for me for my birthday and I have to say, this was the best present! At first I was nervous about having a stylist. It can be an intimidating thought having someone help you with fashion. However, as soon as I met Sandi, I instantly felt comfortable. I purchased the bundle, which I highly recommend. She helped me get rid of clothes that I've had for years! Sandi made this process so easy and fun. I never felt judged and she really took time to understand my style. Aftward, I even received a Pinterest board of her thoughts and she was right on track with what look I was going for. Shopping with Sandi was great. For once I finally enjoyed shopping for clothes! She picked out flattering outfits to try on so I never felt self conscious or overwhelmed (which is usually how I feel shopping!) At our follow up, Sandi really took time to show me outfit combinations and how to pull off certain styles that I like. I also recommend the lookbook. I use mine often to help pick out outfits and to remember what goes well together. I am now constantly getting compliments on my clothes and never feeling discouraged about what to wear for a certain occasion. Instead I'm looking forward to choosing an outfit! I can't recommend Sandi enough. I will definitely be contacting her again for spring/summer shopping. The best part is that I feel like I saved money because I now have clothes I know I will wear. If you are on the fence about hiring her as a stylist, just do it! You will not be disappointed!

Jessica was superb from start to finish! She communicated effectively and in a timely manner. She shared her knowledge and guided not only me, but my entire wedding party towards the perfect look. She was warm and personable and added a positive, friendly glow to the room. Nothing phased her. From gal to gal she dived in and rocked it! Definitely glad I had her as my stylist on my special day. The entire wedding party was raving about her professionalism and talent. Top notch all around!!!!

How to describe the world’s greatest hairstylist...... Heather Hebron, guru of all beauty, artist and right hand to God’s every masterpiece, a natural talent with an aesthetic eye, solid knowledge and extensive experience in a multitude of settings. She will bring out your best you. Whether your goal is to gain a new look, reach your signature go to, try a refreshing trend, or to be beautified to your ultimate you as you celebrate any of life’s cherished milestones, Heather is your answer! Matched with an optimistic, bubbly, and vibrant personality, Heather also has an eye for beauty, an ear to take in your desires and needs, a heart to give you the best, and the ultimate passion led deliverance to each and every client. She will perfect and accentuate your beauty as a master make-up artist, brilliant colourist, and talented stylist whether it’s styling alone or cutting and shaping your hair. I met Heather 20 years ago and within the first 10 minutes I knew she was a friend for life and now she is family, not by blood but by choice. I have searched for the last 20 years for someone to cut, color, and style my hair with even a semi- closeness to what she does. I have yet to find a single person that compares. Heather can take an overdue and over processed head of hair to its best, the angle and technique that she uses will leave your hair at its healthiest and easiest to style and manage. She found the best cut and color for my facial shape and structure as well as for my lifestyle. I still cannot explain how magical her touch is. My hair became easier to manage and naturally layed and flipped under in a way that it had never done. I felt more confident and radiant especially after my husband took notice. To this day he still requests that I go to Heather for my next cut. With color and a brush, she transformed my dull limp hair into a rich, vibrant asset and my pre-aging, dry skin into a glowing youthful presence. I have watched as she brought a beautiful bride to radiate as a queen, a teenager battling the teen years received a minimal touch of color left her chair as a confident graceful young lady, a woman desiring a change to suit her new life was instantly renewed to her youth, a man looking for a new edge walked out feeling on top of the world, a lady battling hair loss received a cut and color of perfection that transformed her hair into the thickness she longed for. I could go on to list her expertise in editorial prints, highlight her addition to runways, applaud her triumphs at fashion week, celebrate her clientele after opening a salon, and acknowledge her ability to bring everlasting memories to a multitude of bridal parties, but I’ll put the ball in your court as you take seat into an experience of a lifetime and come out as the best you that you could imagine!

Lindsay and her team are proof positive that outstanding customer service still exist. Her enthusiasm and extreme professionalism quickly differentiate her from other hair stylists because she does take a genuine interest in addressing her customers’ concerns. Not only did she do a superb job with a complicated hair style for my wedding day but she also made the entire process as worry-free as possible. She went above and beyond my expectations by being punctual, attentive to my requests and overall an extremely pleasant person to work with. I wish Lindsay and her team much continued success in their future endeavors; there is no doubt in my mind that when someone like her holds themselves to such a high standard, anything is possible. Hats off and a big THANK YOU!

Such an incredible experience with Jessica. Not only did she make the Bride and I feel like princesses she also made time to do the Maid of Honor's and the Bride's mother's makeup. She went above and beyond showing us the best way to apply our own lashes. She not only did our makeup; she also found us an amazing hair stylist. If you ever need your makeup done in Denver, I would highly recommend her. She was very easy to work with and very easy to contact! I look forward to working with her again :)

I've been getting my hair cut and died with Katie for at least five years now. She's the only person I trust. Throughout the years, I've gone through countless hair styles: from hair length all the way down my back to a pixie cut, trying out bangs, extreme layering, ombre, and most recently a simple trim up with minimal layers and a side bang. Each time, she has made me feel comfortable and listened-to. The whole experience of trying something new or livening up an old look with her is exciting and devoid of any fear I used to feel with other stylists. Even if I don't know exactly what I want, I trust that I can talk it through with her and she will translate my ideas into a cut or dye that works for me. One of the many things I appreciate about her, too, is how invested she is in understanding the products and the techniques she uses. Whenever I leave her studio I feel that much more knowledgable about how my hair works and how different products and treatments affect the way it looks and feels. Overall, I recommend her countless times over. She is doing fantastic things for individuals as well as the industry as a whole by representing what a hair stylist should be: a listener, an artist, and a friend.

I love Crissy! I am the type of person that doesn't have a specific hairstyle, and need to rely on an expert to help guide me. I give her a general idea like "I want to lighten the color" or "I want to go dark" and "long layers". She always has great ideas to achieve my general idea, and the color and cut are always perfect. Never I have I had an experience where she took my ideas to the extreme and I was not happy. I also like that she doesn't actually cut the style until my hair is dry to better ensure the proper style. Crissy has been my hair stylist for about 8 years now, and I'll be going to her for as long as she'll do it!

Have you been overwhelmed by shopping for clothes? Have you spent a lot of money on fashion mistakes? Me too. Gosh it’s such a challenge to put together an outfit, much less a style. I’ve read books on how to buy clothes (good references, Kendall Farr, “The Pocket Stylist” and “How Not to Look Old’) and I’ve probably watched every episode or “What Not To Wear,” but there is just no substitute for hiring an expert. After reading a story in the Denver Post by Rachel Lefort I decided to contact her for help. It’s been a great working relationship ever since. Rachel’s services include one day of editing, sorting through styles that work or the ones that are dated, focusing on what colors work for you, and compiling a focused list to start bringing the wardrobe into a closet full of clothes that work together and that you look forward to wearing. We have gone through both my spring-summer and fall-winter wardrobes, clearing out all the stuff I haven’t been able to give away, because “they’re not worn out yet.” Rachel didn’t bring the garbage can -- she’s too tactful for that, but she will tell you frankly what works and what doesn’t, and why. I used to shop bargains, and it turns out I have a pretty good eye for individual pieces, but I had no idea how to put together an outfit. I didn’t know that I needed stylish elasticized belts to camo the meno-muffin that sometimes gaps between my pants and knit tops. I didn’t know that I needed skinny belts to accent an outfit, or that gauzy scarves in the right colors would pull together multiple outfits. Day two is a day of shopping – believe me 5 hours goes fast. I had given up on finding shoes and just kept wearing the same old shoes. I now have a great selection of wearable, fashionable shoes. We shopped Nordstrom’s, Zappo’s and Marmi Shoes. The third day is spent showing you how to style your new clothes, shoes and accessories so you know what you are doing and how to put the combinations together. I can say unconditionally that my experience with Rachel has been great. She is knowledgeable, has great training in the fashion industry, she has a great eye for color, style and function, and knows which pieces really make a difference. Rachel showed me colors that work that I never gave a second look in the past. I now know what to look for when I go shopping alone, and how to put an outfit together. The proof is in how you look and feel when you walk out the door. I know that I spent my money well, no fashion mistakes, my clothes relate, and it’s easy to get dressed and pull together an outfit. It’s worth it to hire a well qualified expert. It’s true, that you can reach a place where the colors and styles all work together, you can walk out the door feeling confident, looking stylish, edgy and put together. You can’t go wrong with Rachel Lefort on your team. She’ll turn you into a budding fashionista like me.

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do I find a personal stylist?

To find a fashion consultant, start by browsing portfolios online. Styling is a visual art, so finding a fashion consultant who fits the style you desire is key. Great personal stylists aren’t confined to one style, but if you’re seeking a hipper, fashion-forward vibe, you’d do well to find someone with a modern portfolio, while a fashion consultant with a consistently refined style could be a better fit if you’d prefer a more conservative look. Reading reviews is also helpful for learning more about the fashion consultant. Research their training, background and years of experience. After reviewing websites and Instagram accounts, meet with the stylist in person to learn how well they fit your personality; some fashion consultants offer a free phone consultation prior to hiring. Before hiring, make sure you clearly understand their terms of service and payment.

            What do image consultants do?

Image consultants help people look and feel their best by coaching them on their clothing and beauty choices. An image consultant can be hired for a one-time occasion, such as an awards ceremony, big birthday party or photo shoot. The consultant will recommend clothing, hair and makeup to suit the occasion either using either what the client owns or taking a targeted shopping trip. For a complete fashion consultation, the image consultant will assess your wardrobe, your lifestyle, and what you hope to present to the world, and will then determine the best colors, styles and cuts for you. You can get help streamlining your professional appearance, adjusting your style after a change in body size, solidifying a new look, or finding clothing to fit one area of your life like work or weekends. Image consultants also provide closet edits, going through your clothing and paring out what isn’t right for the look you’re trying to achieve. Personal shopping is another service that image consultants provide. After an image assessment, they can either shop with you or shop on your behalf to find you key pieces you need.

            What is a fashion consultant?

A fashion consultant is a paid professional who will advise you on what to wear and how to wear it to fit your desired lifestyle or career goals. A fashion consultant can provide many services including personal shopping, closet audits, beauty consultations, style consultations and ongoing seasonal services. A fashion consultant often has a design or fashion background (although this is not required) and an innate sense of style. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut with the colors, cuts and designs we think suit us. A fashion consultant comes in with fresh eyes and provides constructive feedback to guide your style choices.

During your initial meeting, your fashion consultant will take stock of your current clothing selection and learn what you hope to achieve. They’ll identify core wardrobe pieces you need, as well as advise you how to wear items together. Many consultants create style lookbooks for their clients explaining things like exactly which shoes to wear with what pants and how to accessorize each look. Fashion consultants are a great option for people who are updating their style due to age, career changes or body changes, or who are just ready for a new look and feel. Most fashion consultants charge by the hour, with some offering packages and others working from a retainer.

            What is a personal shopper?

Personal shoppers take the pain out of having good fashion. Personal shoppers are paid professionals who work with women, men or children who need style assistance. If you are stuck in a fashion rut, are unsure how to dress in a way that flatters your body, need to revamp your image, or want a more professional career look, personal shoppers can help. Personal shoppers identify the look their client wants to achieve and purchase the necessary clothing and accessories to achieve it. The process often begins with an initial consultation with the client to understand their style goals. This consultation may include a closet “audit,” an assessment of the client’s current wardrobe to see what items can be eliminated and what must be purchased to achieve the desired style.

The client and the personal shopper can shop together, selecting items as a team. The personal shopper may also shop on behalf of the client, then bring all items to the client for a final decision. A third option is pre-shopping, where the personal shopper reaches the store(s) ahead of the client and sets aside clothing for the client to try on, expediting the whole process — a win for anyone who hates spending time in the mall. Personal shoppers can also be hired for one-time events such as weddings, vacations or birthdays. You can also enlist a personal shopper to do your gift shopping for you. Overall, a personal shopper is an investment in making good style choices.

How much do wedding makeup artists cost?

A wedding means love, celebration and tons of wedding photos. Professional wedding makeup artists have you looking your best on your big day and forever after in your wedding photos. The national average cost for a wedding makeup artist is $70-$100, although this price can increase based on your location, the extent of the makeup services and the reputation of the makeup artist. Most wedding makeup artists offer discounts to brides who book group services for their maids, mothers and flower girls at the same time. Wedding makeup artists who also do wedding hair usually offer package rates for hair and makeup combos. Here are some examples of average wedding makeup pricing:

            • Bridal makeup: $85-$125. Pricing often includes full face, eyes, lips, brows and false eyelashes. Airbrush makeup may be an additional $20 or more.
            • Bridal hair and makeup: $150-$200.
            • Bridesmaid and bridal party makeup: $50-$100 per person.
            • Bridesmaid hair and makeup: $100-$150.
            • Flower girl makeup: $25-$35.
            • Trial sessions: $60-$120, depending on the makeup artist. Some charge their full rate and others charge a partial rate for trial makeup services.
            • Hourly rates to stay on and keep makeup touched up throughout reception: $35-$75 per hour.
            • Travel fees: 50 cents to $1 per additional mile beyond a set radius — such as 50 miles.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
