The contractor correctly diagnosed that the reason my gutters were leaking is the drip edge was on the top of the underlayment and the underlayment needed to be on top of the drip edge. He was honest and told me the underlayment needed to be fixed all the way around the roof and he didn't have time that day so he charged me a reduced rate for just doing the inspection. I contacted my roofing company and they sent someone out to fix it at no cost to me so I was very happy to benefit from the contractors expertise! The contractor was late to our appointment though otherwise I would have given him 5 stars.

Although I picked a bad week to have my fence installed because of rain all week, Richard Taylor with Denver Fence & Foundation worked to get the job done. I am pleased with the quality of materials and workmanship I received. Richard even went out of his way to put up a security fence so my dog could still run and play. He even installed chicken wire under the fence to deter digging at no additional charge except material costs. I would highly recommend his services.

Rodney and Casey were a pleasure to work with. They installed 250 feet of linear fence for me at a new residence I built. They did it in 3 days, were able to start when I needed them and worked diligently with me on staying in my budget while not compromising quality. They do the work themselves and quality is top priority for them. They use screws along the entire fence and use a wood preservative, which should prolong the fence life. They went above and beyond in every area - including leaving the garage cleaner than they found it! I would not hesitate to call Rodney again for any fencing work (or hardscaping, which is Casey's specialty!)

Royden Vea was very easy to work with for this job. We had a few hiccups with our sprinkler system, which was not his issue only ours. The fence is beautiful! Highly recommed Western Pacific Contractors and Royden Vea.

I'll begin with Value - the work was done right. Who knew "good craftsmanship" and fencing would go together. My fence looks beautiful and I am getting many compliments. My favorite part was that the fence has a transition section from 6ft to 4ft and it looks beautiful, flawless and just right. I didn't want 6ft everywhere so this was a neat creation by the fence guys. Then there is professionalism and punctuality. The guys never failed to show up at 9am! They were there and they began working. They didn't hem or haw, they did what they were suppose to do and never lallygagged. Every moment they were on the clock, they were working! The work quality is spectacular. I only wish I wasn't writing this review in the dark, otherwise I would go outside and take pictures and post (and will if I can remember to come back to this post). The fence was worth every penny and moment! The warranty is good too, being that the winds can get crazy high! I can't imagine anyone else doing a better job! That's how good it is! P.s. My double fence is A-MA-ZING! A work of art!

Ian and Skyler did a great job. They built me a custom metal shed, refinished all my fences and applied a transparent stain. They also performed 5-7 other handymen jobs around my house. Their attention to detail is something I liked best. I will be using them again.

This business and owners customer service go above and beyond just installing a fence. I made the call. Seth came right out that night and went to work. Eagle Eye's quality of wood, to alignment of fence posts and even Seth's attention to where he should redepost the dirt really impressed me and my family. This fencing business is top notch and I highly recommend them. Krista H. 😎

We needed a broken gate fixed on our fence. Hayden and his team were great! Once we were able to establish an initial appointment, (due to my crazy schedule), Hayden had our gate fixed within the week and in a very short time. This was very important since we have a new dog practicing his escape artist routine! Quality of the work was tested a few weeks later during a windstorm. Our old gate, even when it was new, would pop open during any kind of wind. Our new fate held firm! Hayden was true to his word about cost and timeframe. We will definitely use him for future projects.

I'd like to commend James and his crew for an outstanding job and attention to detail on our new fence at our new home! My wife and I met with James about two weeks prior to us moving into our house. We walked through how we wanted our fence and gates installed on the property. On the day we needed the job completed, his crew showed up first thing in the morning to start digging the fence posts and James brought the materials. His crew lined everything out and by the time late evening arrived his crew completed installation of our new fence. I would highly recommend A + Fencing Company for anyone that needs a fence installed professionally! They exceeded our expectations!

Albelardo came to my home to replace two fence posts and reinstall the existing fence. The fence posts were installed correctly and to my surprise he used screws instead of nails. Something I was hoping he would do. I have noticed only one thing though: The fence posts did not look like they were pressure treated to resist rot when in contact with soil. Most people would not notice, and I find no real fault because he did such a great job in installation. The fence posts will last for several years, and I will rehire him because there is other fencing I am thinking about having done. I just need to get the money.

Evan and Darrel did a wonderful job with our unique project that we had. We had an existing wire fence that needed to be removed and then we needed a new one built behind where the old one was so we could increase the size of our RV storage on our property. Then we needed a 16' double gate installed in the front. I also told Evan what kind of wheels I wanted on the gate and he said that wasn't a problem and ordered the wheels for me. Once they get the 2x4's hung up Darrel moves right on along with his nail gun and he finishes the work quickly. Thank you guys both for the great work.

We had a fantastic experience with Lyons Fence. They installed an Ameristar Montage Plus 6' fence around our house footprint and a T-Post + mesh wire 4' fence around the property (5 acres). They delivered a quality job in a very timely manner and gave us super competitive labor rates (we bought the materials). They were flexible enough to change and adjust the type of work we wanted as the project matured at no additional cost. We highly recommend them to anyone looking for a fencing contractor and will call on them again in the future when we expand our Montage Plus fenceline.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much is a redwood fence per foot?

A redwood fence is a long-lasting home investment that can add beauty and major curb appeal to your home. Redwood fence installation costs are higher than those for pressure-treated pine or cedar, due to the relative scarcity of the wood. Pricing can vary for redwood fence installation costs based on regional labor rates, current prices of redwood planks, the height and linear feet of the fence, and any custom designs or features. Redwood fences, in addition to being beautiful, are naturally more resistant against bugs and rot than less hardy or dense woods. Redwood fences also generally fare well in wet or humid climates due to their natural oils — which also make them easier to maintain. Materials costs per linear foot for redwood planks can range anywhere from $6 to $20 or more, depending on grade, quality and height.

How much does it cost to put up a chain-link fence?

Chain-link fence is one of the most affordable options for adding safety and value to your home or business. The national average chain-link fence installation cost is $2,750. Chain-link fences are relatively simple for the pros to install; a fence of less than 150 linear feet can often be put up in under one day. A good rule of thumb is to add an additional workday for each additional 100 linear feet of fence to be installed.

Chain-link fence installation costs are affected by the fluctuating cost of steel, regional labor rates, the height of fence you select, and the features you select, such as a powder-coated finish. The industry standard is galvanized steel, which is rust- and corrosion-resistant. Galvanized chain-link fence installation cost, including labor and materials, is typically $12 per linear foot. For a more contemporary and elegant option, black powder-coated galvanized chain-link fence might cost approximately $15 per linear foot on average, including materials and labor. For industrial sites or businesses, 10-foot-high galvanized chain-link fences may provide additional security, but also have an added cost. A 10-foot-high chain-link fence could cost $17-$18 per linear foot, including labor and materials.

How much does it cost to install a vinyl fence?

A new fence can mean added home value, increased curb appeal, and improved home security. The national average vinyl fence installation cost is $4,600. Vinyl fences have a number of appealing qualities such as their durability, their lasting good looks (they don’t weather like wood does), their versatility, and the fact that they require little to no maintenance such as staining. Fencing companies typically charge per linear foot for vinyl fence installation. They calculate their estimates based on materials to be used, height of fence, linear feet of the proposed fence, and the accessibility of the terrain. If the workers need to level the land before work begins, your vinyl fence installation costs will probably increase. Vinyl fences are typically more expensive than wood or chain-link. For example, one company might charge $19-$22 per linear foot for a basic 6-foot vinyl privacy fence. Another company might charge $25-$35 per linear foot for standard vinyl fencing, while decorative fencing with custom detail could increase that cost to $50 per linear foot. For a 6-foot-high white vinyl privacy fence with two walk-through gates (plus demolition and disposal of the old fence), the cost of the total project could run $8,000. A 4-foot-high, 36-linear-foot white picket vinyl fence with one gate could cost $2,600.

How much does it cost to install a wood fence?

Help define your property line, protect your home and yard, and boost your curb appeal with a new wood fence. The national average for wood fence installation cost is $3,250. Wood fence installation costs will vary based on your geographic location, the type of wood you select, the height and style of wood fence you desire, and the condition of your property. Pressure-treated pine is a common and attractive choice that is usually resilient against rot and bugs. Cedar is another budget-friendly option that, although more expensive than pressure-treated pine, can be more affordable than redwood or teak. A wood fence requires maintenance to ensure its long-term health and beauty, so keep future staining and painting costs in mind when you’re calculating fence installation costs. Here are some examples of how height and material affect the approximate cost of wood fences:

  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $15-$17 per linear foot.
  • 4-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence: $13-$20 per linear foot.
  • Cedar fence: $18-$25 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, double-sided (meaning both sides are uniform), pressure-treated pine fence with 6x6 posts: $25 per linear foot.
  • 12-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with custom detailing: $75 per linear foot.
  • 6-foot-high, pressure-treated pine fence with a custom lattice top: $30-$50 per linear foot.

How much does it cost to install a fence gate?

Adding a gate to your fence can be a practical way to provide access to a yard, work area or outdoor living space while ensuring safety and privacy. Gate installation costs will vary based on the gate material you select, the size of your gate, whether you install a fence at the same time, and any special features you’d like to add. Standard opening size for a single-wide gate is 4 feet; a double-wide gate is 8 feet. A small gate may be for decoration; a double-wide gate can be mounted on a rolling caster system to allow access for cars or wide loads. Here are some examples of average fence gate installation costs:

  • 4-foot, single-swing chain-link gate: $100 for materials and installation costs.
  • 28-foot wheeled chain-link gate on a caster system: $800-$1,000 for materials and installation costs.
  • 4-foot, single-swing wood gate: $75.
  • 8-foot double-wide wood gate: $150.
  • 4-foot white vinyl walk-through gate: $300–$400 for materials and installation costs.
  • 8-foot, double-wide white vinyl gate: about $800 for materials and installation costs.
  • White vinyl gate fence more than 8 feet wide: $1,200-$1,500 for materials and installation.
  • Arched black powder-coated aluminum pool gates: $175-$200 per gate.
