I took voice lessons from Tracy and her teaching style, personal talent, and incredible professionalism helped me enormously. Tracy makes you believe in yourself. She takes raw talent (abilities) and helps you move to a higher level. Additionally, my children took piano lessons from her and two of them are now musicians and pursuing professional music careers. I have enormous respect and admiration for Tracy!

Egemen is a tremendous composition teacher. His ultimate goal is always to help his student find the sound they are searching for, and every comment and suggestion is made with that intent. Egemen's immense mental catalogue of music allows him to make suggestions for listening on the spot, helping his students learn more about sounds and techniques they want to develop. I can attest that the quality of my compositions has increased drastically since setting foot in his studio, and I will always have his voice in the back of my head stating "wouldn't it be more effective to subtly obscure the metric feel at this point?" Egemen is incredibly supportive, respectful, kind, considerate, and talented, and I would recommend him to anyone who is seeking a highly skilled mentor.

About

Singing: it's all about removing tension as your natural voice is already perfect! Hi. My name is Amelia Petrie and I have 24 years of teaching experience, 34 of performing, a bachelor's and a master's degree in opera, and I currently perform in and around the Denver/Boulder corridor with my pop, folk, and jazz fusion duo called ambiance. Those are my credentials; but my talents as a singing teacher are as follows: I can find and root out anything that is holding your voice back. I will find it and I will train you to stop it. I firmly believe that there is nothing wrong with the natural voice. Everyone can sing, barring tone-deafness or some other physical issue. So why not sing the best you can? It is all about tension. You could listen to me yammer on all day about formants and laryngeal tilt (or more wisely, can suggest articles and books to read or just send you to Wikipedia for a biology lesson), but that does not teach you how to sing. I have repaired damaged voices carefully and lovingly since 1997 and know intimately how to rebuild a vocal foundation after I lost my voice twice due to bad teaching. I regained it by changing teachers, which is how I found this technique. Based on bel canto or speech-based singing, it is the oldest and the kindest to the body and the voice. Instead of having a sore throat afterwards, you will be invigorated and your body will be freely resonating and humming with sound. You'll never have a problem with singing loudly again, that is for sure! You will actually have to work on your quiet tones instead. As my teaching pedagogy is based on physiology and not going contrary to how the body and its muscles, bones or cartilage is naturally supposed to function, your voice will become the best it has ever been, and you will have the knowledge to root out and eradicate any troubles that may arise in the future, as every day has its own new tensions and issues that can reflect on the voice. Please contact me to schedule a lesson. My rate is $40 per hour. Lessons are held at Robb's Boulder Music, 2691 30th St. Boulder, CO 80301.

Patrice is a wonderful voice instructor. She uses tools such as scales and tongue twisters to help warm up the voice and teach students to listen to the sound quality of their voice and helps them to improve the quality so they can more effectively reach out to the audience. She is very knowledgeable in all different types of music and is always willing to try something a little different. She has a great background in music and she has actively lived a vocal life as a singer around the world which makes her expertise invaluable. We have seen great improvements in our daughter’s voice and performance skills since she started with Patrice in February. We noticed immediate change in vocal quality and now we see greater confidence and a willingness to reach further into the musical world and try pieces that would have previously been beyond her ability or willingness to try. We have been with two voice instructors previously and Patrice out shines them all.

About

We offer voice lessons and vocal performance classes and the Ecstatic Choir. Michele Jennings is our voice teacher and performance coach. Michele has been teaching for more than 10 years and loves encouraging her students to express themselves through blues, R&B, jazz, folk, pop, funk, country, rock 'n roll, and more. Michele has a unique ability to identify and bring out the latent talents of new and inexperienced singers and gives them the confidence they need to express themselves in a style that is supportive as well as challenging. She is keenly aware that there is no "one-size-fits-all" approach and tailors her teaching methods to the needs of each student. She brings a caring and professional attitude to her leadership that fosters an assurance from which her students immediately benefit. She records portions of private voice lessons to mp3 or audio CD format for the students to use at home. Michele has directed Boulder's Ecstatic Choir for eight years. This is a community non-traditional choir, where all are welcome to join with no experience necessary. She has created and led vocal empowerment workshops for business leaders through the Boulder Chamber of Commerce Leadership Program and directed the singing program for children's Boulder Conservatory Summer Camp. She also enjoys mentoring teenage students in solo or group vocal technique and harmonies. Michele teaches vocal performance classes as well, where students learn to sing on stage into a microphone, direct a live band, and to connect with their audience. Classes focus on learning to do the following: - Honestly and authentically communicate yourself through your song's message - Confidently lead and communicate with the band, using language they understand - Understand and apply music theory and song structure - When under pressure, find your true presence - Use vocal technique effectively - Rehearse and use performance technique and stage presence to find power "I hold the radical assumption that if a person can talk, that person can learn to sing with ease, power and full control. Learning to sing in this way filters over into other aspects of our lives, and I find that students become more effective communicators and more confident individuals" - Michele Styles taught include jazz, pop, blues, rock, R&B, funk, motown, soul, oldies, disco, country, folk, and children's.

I do voice training and acting lessons. We will be working not only on your voice's strength but also on the quality and finding the uniqueness of your voice rather than matching. We will be doing a lot of warmups and silly training techniques to make your voice willing to bend to your style.

About

I teach private voice and piano lessons. I am also available for music theory tutoring. I teach a wide range of students, from 4 years old to adult.

About

I have 3 programs - traditional private piano lessons (ages 6 1/2 and up), Let's Play Music (ages 4-6) and Sound Beginnings (ages 2-4) Let's Play Music is a 3-year music theory course for starting ages 4-6, that emphasizes total musicianship through piano playing, singing, classical music, note reading, and ear training, and that's accomplished through play! Let's Play Music is based on the philosophies of Kodaly, Dalcroze and Orff. Students learn to read rhythms by saying bug notes (four 16th notes is "cat-er-pil-lar"), learn chord progressions through colors (I is a red chord, IV is a blue chord, V is a yellow chord) and much more. They start on the autoharp and bell set for their 1st year and transfer the skills they learned to the piano on the 2nd and 3rd year. They learn advanced theory skills while also developing their ear skills. By the end of the program, the students compose their own song and play it at the recital. Let's Play Music is a great program both for students who want to go on and study classical music and those who want to play popular music since it teaches the necessary skills for both. Ear training, composing, transposing, and an understanding of chords are very important skills for the contemporary 21st-century musician that are often neglected in traditional piano lessons. These are huge focuses in Let's Play Music and in my private piano lessons as well.
