Introduction: My approach is to offer a warm, compassionate and non-judgmental place for clients to get the help they need. I believe that each person has a solution as unique as their personality and therefore, I find it important to treat each situation individually without assumptions and treat the "whole" person.
I work with clients on an array of issues and concerns, and I have experience with clients of all ages, backgrounds and belief systems. I feel the foundation of effective therapy is a safe, trusting and collaborative relationship. I will work with you to develop a plan that is tailored to your goals and needs.
My areas of specialties include trauma, substance abuse/addiction, military, women's issues, domestic violence, as well as sexual assault.
Individuals who have experienced trauma may experience feeling anxious, panicky or depressed or develop relationship problems and alcohol and/or substance use problems. In treating trauma, I emphasize safety and boundaries and work at a pace that suits the client's needs.
I believe in the fundamental importance of the mind-body connection in healing from trauma. I focus on building on a client's natural strengths and help the client to identify desired goals and develop the skills and knowledge to achieve them.
Once you have dealt with the past, you can use counseling to achieve your present and future optimal life.
