- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
For Professional Organizing Services I charge an hourly rate of $40 plus some travel time and gas if the client is more than 20 minutes from my office. For Wedding/Party/Event Planning Services I charge a flat fee based on the scope of services agreed upon. That fee ranges from $500- $2500 and up. I pass along ALL professional discounts. if I'm doing floral arrangements I only pass along the wholesale cost of the flowers plus sales tax. I don't up-charge anything. Any additional staff needed is charged separately from my fee. If I'm hired for Full-Service event planning I generally include the use of my extensive decorating inventory at no additional cost.
- What is your typical process for working with a new customer?
If my new customer is wanting event planning services I start with clarifying their vision for the event. I also determine their budget and their priorities for the event. I ask tons of questions so that I can be clear as to what the scope of services the client is wanting.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I started out 15 years ago as a Professional Organizer. Once my clients realized all my varied talents they started asking me to do their holiday and seasonal decor. Soon I was also planning and designing their kid's weddings and parties.
