My son needed professional video done a day before the deadline. Jeff not only made a high quality professional video but also did it well before the deadline. He also went out of his way to add captions to the video and added a sound track for disabled. Jeff also made customized change for us several time with fast turn around time. All those for a very competitive price. We are thrilled by his professionalism and his efficiency. We would not hesitate to ask them help again next time.

I had big ideas but totally overwhelmed with how to execute them. Tom Davis came in, took away the fear and created exactly what I had been visualizing. Tom is a versatile Videographer that’s exceptionally well organized. Not only does he help in determining the best way to enhance your product service, he lays out the order of shots so you don’t have to repeat locations. One of the things I really liked is that he writes the script and inserts sound-effects for the Video that totally captures the image you want to project. It is fun to get on my website to hear the up-beat music. The on-site Video can also be turned off anytime you desire. Thanks Tom.

We could not be happier with the video Guillermo created for us. He was great to work with and was able to incorporate all of our requests and edits easily and quickly. We hired him from out-of-state, and he did an amazing job considering we corresponded solely through email and phone for the video. The end result was exactly what we were hoping for and tells our story perfectly. Thank you, Guillermo!

Neil and Selena recorded video of my entire wedding ceremony and my husband and I couldn't be happier with the finished product. The audio was beautiful and crisp, each minute was accounted for, and the editing was smooth. Their camera skills are impressive, with multiple zooms and angles that make for a really grand overall video. I couldn't suggest their videography skills more.

Josh and Levi were really responsive, fun, and easy to work with. They did a great job and have a really cool style. Looking back the only thing we would have requested is some more direction when posing for photos. Specifically in many of the photos some people were smiling and others not, or maybe a button undone etc. We recommend discussing needs and expectations beforehand to make sure everyone’s on the same page and you get exactly what you want. The video was awesome! We love that they let us choose the song. We appreciated getting a few of the photos right away to share with family and friends while the rest were being edited. Overall our experience was good and Ivywild has a great value.

I've worked with Erik professionally for over 15 years on a daily basis. I'm a professional photographer with over 30 years of working experience in all aspect of the field. Do you remember the TV show M*A*S*H? Well, Erik's hearing is akin to Radar O'Reilly's character. As an audio engineer, he can hear things before you do, identify them, and take corrective action. His editing skills in both video and audio are excellent, and his professionalism is blossoming in his new found talent in the art and science of still photography. Don't hire a guy with a Costco DSLR who calls himself a photographer, or rely on your friend who's in a band to do your audio. Hire a pro. Hire Erik. Working with Ross and Annette at Emerald Fox Productions was a fantastic experience from start to finish. From our initial bid/meeting to the delivery of our final photos and video shoot, they were professional, friendly and went above and beyond our expectations. Our band hired them to film our concert at the Dickens Opera House and take photos of the performance as well. They edited shots from multi camera videos for four songs and a compilation highlight video of our performance. The color, camera angles and editing were perfect and in addition the audio quality was superior. I recommend any band, or artist who wants to have a high quality and professional video shoot should consider Emerald Fox productions first!

What a find! The SCI Recovery Project's fundraising event would not have been successful with out Mitchell! Mitchell was brought on to create two videos that were featured at our 2013 fundraising event. Mitchell was such a breeze to work with. His professionalism, skills, and dedication to our testimonial video, and staff confessional video made our fundraising event a huge success! I was overwhelmingly impressed by his ability to immerse himself in the project, and spend extra time needed to make our film one that our donor base is sure to remember. Our client was thrilled by the quality representation of her and her life, and I loved how approachable he was with suggestions and ideas. Thank you Mitchell!!! We hope we'll be working with you for years to come!!!

I needed a video split into four separate videos, and the estimates I received on Thumbtack were ridiculous! Then, I had the pleasure of communicating with Ryan and he provided me with a fair price/offer with immediate service. BINGO! I spoke to him over the phone, and he was so genuine and honest with his offer that I could not refuse his services . . .I am so glad I trusted him with my delicate video. The job got done, although with one hiccup that was purely my fault. I was unaware that the new videos needed to be in 720p or higher to upload to the platform I wanted to use. Ryan quickly fixed this and sent all the videos back to me at no extra charge. What a GEM! Now, all my videos are uploaded on the new site ready to Rock 'N Roll! Thank you Ryan for everything! I will definitely keep Ryan in mind for other projects in the near future, since he has a vast amount of knowledge in many areas.

Wade and I collaborated on his award winning documentary, Marvin Booker Was Murdered, about a wrongful death in Denver. Wade's passion and drive to see a feature length film though the filmmaking process (from conception, through production, through editing, and release through festivals and community screenings) cannot be understated. The film has sparked meaningful conversation about violence from law enforcement, and it has even initiated positive steps toward reform from the City of Denver administration. Without Wade's hard work, focus, and leadership, the story of Marvin Booker would not have been told. On commercial projects that Wade has taken on, he is very personable and collaborative. He listens and communicates effectively to pull off the client's vision while appropriately adding his own input. In his careful editing, Wade avoids the cookie cutter cliches of video promos and makes the work stand out as an honest documentary film, instead of a forced, corporate ad. Wade is a great choice for video production and editing projects in Colorado.

About

creative eye for any shot you may think is boring. there is always another angle or perspective. I love telling stories, using cameras to tell the story.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
