Chef Allen and his team catered our wedding this summer at the Farmette in Lyons. After an epic search, we were lucky and relieved to find such an honest, hardworking chef and team hell bent on providing not only exceptional food but also great service and value. The wedding industry is ripe with folks trying to take advantage of you - we saw other venders prices routinely double when we mentioned "wedding". Allen and team were on our side, flexible to our needs and looking out for our interests - which allowed us to relax and enjoy not only our special day, but also much of the process leading up to it. We not only recommend them, but urge to work with them if your seeking high quality food, service and value. The wedding industry would be better off if half of the venders were as good and as caring as Smoke Shack.

“We used Smoke Shack BBQ for our wedding in June 2015. What a great choice we made by using them! The food was delicious, and the presentation was excellent as well. It tasted the same as when we did the tasting, if not better! We did the cheese sampler and the smoked salmon for cocktail hour. Everyone was raving about how good everything was, and couldn’t believe we still had dinner coming their way. For dinner we chose the beer can chicken, brisket, coleslaw salad, and beans. YUM, YUM! I also cannot say enough about Allen and his staff. What a great group of folks to work with. They were all so attentive to our needs as well as the guests. I never expected a catering company to be so on top of it! We would HIGHLY recommend Smoke Shack BBQ for any event!” Cailey L.

Smoke Shack catered my wedding in September 2015 for about 100 guests. We chose to have a whole pig BBQ with beer can chicken roasting behind it as well. Several of my guests informed me during and after the wedding that it was the best food they had ever eaten at a wedding. It was also beautifully and courteously served. My team captain got in touch with me about the flow of the event about a week before the wedding. I wish this would've happened earlier as it would've helped me with how much alcohol and paper supplies to buy, saving me a trip to return things afterwards. If you're buying your own alcohol, I also advise telling someone in your family what alcohol you want served first. (ie: I had some I could return and some I could not.) You think you will have time to tell your team captain, but you will definitely be getting ready for the ceremony and unable to point out what goes where.

Working with Allen and Smoke Shack was not only horribly stressful, but also much more costly than originally budgeted. Throughout the entire process, Allen was slow to respond, making deadlines approach without the proper processes and conversations completed. 8 days before my wedding, Allen sent me a final invoice with over $700 in added fees! He also demanded payment within 4 days for an invoice we never discussed or agreed upon or else he would add on a 10% late fee to the entire invoice! This whole process was horrific and created tons of stress one week before the wedding! I was forced to involve both my wedding coordinator and a lawyer, who both assured me Allen was simply taking advantage of me by adding extra costs and fees last minute. On the day of, the food was ok- the chicken was dry. The real problem, however, was with the bar and bartenders. Our cocktails were not mixed properly, and the bartenders decided to stop serving them after just one hour! There was no conversation regarding this decision and there was plenty of alcohol left! The bartenders then attempted to stop serving 1.5 hours early! The venue coordinator was forced to step in to correct this new problem! Working with Allen and Smoke Shack made the planning process and wedding itself very stressful! I would never recommend them for any important event- there will be many tears and dollars lost working with Allen Burton and Smoke Shack

We work very hard to accommodate our customers’ requests and offer very affordable prices and professional full service at our events. In addition to clearly laying out our scheduled due dates for finalizing details and payments in our signed agreements we make ourselves available 7 days a week to our clients. I believe it would have been helpful to both of us if you took the time read the information that we sent to you to avoid this confusion. This instance has my full attention and I would love the opportunity to help you feel better about your experience with us by offering a refund and my sincere apologies. I’m also happy to explain the charges your concerned about and do everything I can to correct this for you. I wish you the best in your new life as a newlywed couple. Allen and his team at Smoke Shack BBQ were all around excellent - they really know the business of good food and good catering service. We are grateful to have had them cater our wedding reception of 200 guests. The pig and all the sides were delicious - we had several compliments from our guests. Besides the food, Allen’s service staff were outstanding - they were spot on and very attentive to our guests and to the bride and groom in particular. They served appetizers and dinner food, tended to guest dinner tables and the bar, and served cake - all went smoothly. Working with Allen and his team over the several months leading up to our wedding was a great experience and it made for a smooth and enjoyable operation on our wedding day. Food is so important at a wedding - you cannot go wrong if you hire Smoke Shack BBQ! Thank you Allen and Smoke Shack BBQ!
