We hired AFA Landscaping for our very first landscaping project ever since we moved in. We didn’t have much knowledge about landscaping projects and we needed the patch of land around our driveway refreshed. It was overgrown with weeds, old ugly looking grasses and tree roots popping up everywhere. Joel Garcia was very good with his communication. He responded quickly and gave me a very reasonable quote for the project. What I liked the most about Joel is that he is very organized and he and his team are very hardworking. Once we decided on the scope of the project and signed a contract, work progressed very smooth and we didn’t need to get involved at all. They cleaned up after their work and if they left any tools to continue work the next day, they left it neatly piled out of the way. They took their time laying landscaping fabric to keep the weeds away. We also asked them to plant roses and I think it’s amazing Joel asked us to select the roses from the flower bin and that helped support a local business as well. He also provided valuable inputs to the project by suggesting installation of a siding where our land bordered with our neighbors so the mulch wouldn’t land on their lawn. I’m sure the neighbors will be grateful for that as well. I definitely recommend AFA landscaping and will hire them again in the future for more projects.See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to repair a sprinkler system?

The average cost of repairing a sprinkler system is $75 but some homeowners pay as much as $225. Expect several factors to influence the cost. The first is the minimum service rate. The type and scope of repair are the largest cost factors, with larger systems requiring more time and materials. How do I find someone to fix my sprinkler system?

You can find a sprinkler repair professional by conducting a little bit of online research. This gives you access to their ratings and customer reviews. Some customers will even submit photos of their sprinkler systems that were fixed by the pros. But before you hire a professional, contact them. Ask them questions about their expertise, tell them about your sprinkler problem and request free cost estimates.

How do I increase water pressure in my lawn sprinklers?

Figure out why your sprinkler has low water pressure and determine if you need to make any repairs. There could be an issue with the valve, a leak or the sprinkler heads may need cleaning. If the water pressure is low in your house as well (check your water pressure regulator), the problem may be with the municipal water supply.

Why won’t my sprinklers pop up?

Several problems can prevent sprinkler heads from popping up. For example, here are a few possible culprits:

  • The valve is partially closed.
  • There’s dirt, sand or debris between the sprinkler’s cap and riser.
  • There's low water pressure.
  • There are leaks in the water line.

Contact a pro to help you diagnose the problem and repair it.

Why is one sprinkler zone not working?

One sprinkler zone could be malfunctioning for several reasons, although the most obvious one — a closed valve — is often the culprit. Check to see if the main system valve is closed. It’s easy to forget to turn this back on after repairs. Other causes for failed sprinkler zones are electrical issues within the valve, timer, wiring or solenoid. A common reason is a bad connection that needs to be re-soldered.

We were in need of sprinkler repair for two issues. Our sprinkler line was cut during a construction project and needed repair. We also had a sprinkler head that was strangled and broken by a large mass of tree roots. These guys were able to respond quickly and were very reasonable. They moved our sprinkler head to a better location and reconnected the damaged line. Our system was up and running within a few hours. I highly recommend Prospect Landscape and will definitely be using them for all of our sprinkler services in the future. Thanks guys!

Jeff responded same day to my message in order to further inquire into the issue and schedule a time to come and take a look at my sprinkler system leak. Despite some scheduling challenges due to the holiday week, the repair was affordable and took just over an hour and a half to complete.

Excellent service. Came right over once we connected. I wanted to learn how to blow out my sprinkler system so I could do it myself in the future and Darrell was very helpful explaining the steps in detail. I would use him in the future for maintenance and repairs. Highly recommend him!

I can’t recommend Alex highly enough. He troubleshot, repaired, programmed, and started up a sprinkler system that hadn’t been operated in years. Last summer my grass burned and I had to re-seed. This year it’s thriving. Alex and his assistant were friendly and professional, took COVID precautions, and worked quickly for a reasonable price. Also I slept through our first appointment and he was so understanding when it would’ve been very easy to be upset—he’s a good guy.
