Introduction: I work well with students with special needs. I am incredibly patient.I have over 20 years of teaching violin, viola and cello in Longmont. I'm currently a string teacher in Boulder Valley School District. I have a private lesson studio where I specialize in teaching students of all ages. I am professional and patient. I am located in an office that is quiet and comfortable with minimal distractions. Lessons are scheduled per week and cost $30 for a half hour lesson, 60$ for an hour lesson. I have a Bachelor in Music Ed from UNC. I perform with a couple of groups around Boulder and Longmont. I am also hold licence from the Colorado Department of Education for K12. I perform with a local band named Tilia Americana. We just completed our first CD with Wind Over the Earth studio in Longmont, CO. I've been recording original music with a few other local songwriters as well. I love the chalenge of writing parts and working with the artists. I love teaching music because I get to play fun songs all day with children. I also enjoy getting to know students on a personal level so I can motivate and help them grow as musicians and people.

We prayed for an orchestra experience for our homeschooler. God answered our prayers when we found Ms. Huster. We have had our son in private lessons with her for less than a year and have watched him explode in technique and passion for his instrument. He has excelled in every musical challenge she has set before him. Ms. Huster is constantly striving to find music that will stretch him and build his confidence. She inspires him and supports his unique ideas for transforming music. She is friendly and skilled. When a teenager looks forward to music lessons, that attests to the ability of a teacher to be great!! We can't imagine anyone else influencing our young cellist.

Our grandson is taking both private lessons, and has been allowed thanks to her intervening, to be part of her class at MHS. Her support has been wonderful, and his abilities have excelled! She communicates well with the students, but also the adults in the life of her student. While he had a good 1 year experience with another school teacher for his introduction to the cello, this year has really challenged him, and pushed him forward. I look forward to the concerts he participates in now, not just to support him, but for the way the orchestra performs under her direction. When you look for a great teacher you want one that can help the individual person, but also bring out the best in a group of students, and Ms. Huster is one of the best I've seen in this area!!!

As a violin student of Michelle's for over two years, I am very pleased and happy with the work that we've done. I've learned so much and I love the energy that Michelle puts into her teaching. As a student and a musician, I find that her teaching is excellent and I have come a long way since I first picked up a violin and started taking lessons. Michelle is incredibly nice and friendly, which creates a very comfortable and welcoming environment to each lesson. I immensely enjoy being a student of Michelle's and I would definitely recommend her as a teacher to anyone considering taking violin lessons.

FAQs

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

I tutor students with school music as well as teach techniques and skills for solo performance. I specialize in Violin, Viola and beginning to intermediate cello. I also perform at weddings and other private events and am for hire for those occasions.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Meet the teacher and make sure your goals and the teacher's goals are the same. Please make sure the child feels comfortable with the teacher during lessons. If they leave lessons crying frequently, perhaps there is not a good match. Make sure your teacher has experience as well as loves this as a career. Many musicians teach just for extra cash and their heart is not in teaching.
