Have you been overwhelmed by shopping for clothes? Have you spent a lot of money on fashion mistakes? Me too. Gosh its such a challenge to put together an outfit, much less a style. Ive read books on how to buy clothes (good references, Kendall Farr, The Pocket Stylist and How Not to Look Old) and Ive probably watched every episode or What Not To Wear, but there is just no substitute for hiring an expert.
After reading a story in the Denver Post by Rachel Lefort I decided to contact her for help. Its been a great working relationship ever since.
Rachels services include one day of editing, sorting through styles that work or the ones that are dated, focusing on what colors work for you, and compiling a focused list to start bringing the wardrobe into a closet full of clothes that work together and that you look forward to wearing.
We have gone through both my spring-summer and fall-winter wardrobes, clearing out all the stuff I havent been able to give away, because theyre not worn out yet. Rachel didnt bring the garbage can -- shes too tactful for that, but she will tell you frankly what works and what doesnt, and why. I used to shop bargains, and it turns out I have a pretty good eye for individual pieces, but I had no idea how to put together an outfit.
I didnt know that I needed stylish elasticized belts to camo the meno-muffin that sometimes gaps between my pants and knit tops. I didnt know that I needed skinny belts to accent an outfit, or that gauzy scarves in the right colors would pull together multiple outfits.
Day two is a day of shopping believe me 5 hours goes fast. I had given up on finding shoes and just kept wearing the same old shoes. I now have a great selection of wearable, fashionable shoes. We shopped Nordstroms, Zappos and Marmi Shoes.
The third day is spent showing you how to style your new clothes, shoes and accessories so you know what you are doing and how to put the combinations together.
I can say unconditionally that my experience with Rachel has been great. She is knowledgeable, has great training in the fashion industry, she has a great eye for color, style and function, and knows which pieces really make a difference. Rachel showed me colors that work that I never gave a second look in the past. I now know what to look for when I go shopping alone, and how to put an outfit together.
The proof is in how you look and feel when you walk out the door. I know that I spent my money well, no fashion mistakes, my clothes relate, and its easy to get dressed and pull together an outfit.
Its worth it to hire a well qualified expert. Its true, that you can reach a place where the colors and styles all work together, you can walk out the door feeling confident, looking stylish, edgy and put together. You cant go wrong with Rachel Lefort on your team. Shell turn you into a budding fashionista like me.
