"I honestly can't say enough about these guys, how well they worked together and with us, and the communication they provided. The process started with a call to Justin who asked some general questions about the size of the move, and he then provided his suggestion for the number of guys to use for the move. We were moving from a 2100 sq ft home (two stories with 3 bedrooms). We had nearly everything packed and ready for the guys in the garage minus any large furniture. They took the time to wrap any furniture or items of value to protect it from harm during transport. Upon arrival at the new house, they moved everything to their respective rooms (including boxes that we had in the garage) and they even setup furniture identically to how we had it in the previous house without ever asking (very thoughtful and much appreciated). When everything was said and done, it took their team of 4 guys 3 hours and 45 minutes to move everything. As I said before, these guys worked great together! They also hold themselves accountable for anything they might damage. After they were finished getting everything in the house, Bruce showed two minuscule nicks in the paint on our handrail down to the basement where they had difficulty getting our couch down because of the turn in the steps and the tight squeeze. Something so small, but they wanted to be sure I was aware of it. Truly appreciate the effort and help these guys provided for us!"

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much should you tip furniture movers?

Moving furniture is hard work and potentially dangerous unless you’re properly equipped. For anyone not ready to handle their heavy oak armoire alone, professional furniture movers can safely and efficiently move your items to another room in your house or across town as needed. The national average cost to hire heavy furniture movers is $150-$200 per hour. This rate could include multiple furniture movers working as a team to move items such as beds, armoires, billiards tables, pianos, shelves, tables, entertainment centers and more. Hourly rates can vary by region. If your furniture movers have arrived on time, done a great job, kept your home and belongings protected from scratches and dings, and completed the move as planned, a tip will be greatly appreciated. Moving companies suggest approximately 10 percent of the total bill as gratuity for those doing local moving jobs, which is also a good guideline for tipping heavy furniture movers. If the total bill for heavy moving was $100 and two workers were onsite, consider giving them $10 total, or $5 each for a job well done.
