Dave was very professional, always on time, and took the time to do the job right. I appreciated how reliable he was and his attention to detail. He completed a subway tile backsplash, installed a faucet, gas cooktop, as well as an outdoor light fixture. He adjusted many little things in my kitchen that were off (cabinet hinges, doors) and did some painting for me. I think he can do it all in terms of home improvement and I would definitely work with him in the future and recommend him for other projects.

We didn't have the money to do a full bathroom remodel but Papas Home Improvements did our shower tile and new lighting fixture and the bathroom looks like it was fully remodeled. We got just what we needed and in our budget.

Project went really well. I'll definitely have S&H pro contracting back to do tile installation in my bathroom in the spring. Thank you so much for making my kitchen floor gorgeous!! And squeezing my project in the same week you came out and gave me a quote. Wish I could add pics to this review! Pricing was very reasonable, and professional, on time each day and took extra care and steps to ensure no mess was made in other areas of the house. Thanks again!

Mike did great work. I have a difficult work schedule which made scheduling work with other handymen challenging, but Mike made it happen. He did some dry wall work and tile work in my bathroom and it looks great.

In the past , dealing with contractors they don't call back, don't reply to texts/emails and always late. Communication is very important to Paulo, he never left a text, email, or voicemail unanswered. Paulo was prompt everyday and he is maticulous with his work. The tile in my bathroom is absolutely beautiful and he will be working on my master bathroom next. Definitely recommend Paulo to do Tile work.

Trent is a straight shooter motivated by integrity. I had requested drywall repair for a 1.5' x 1.5' hole in the wall. When he gave me his estimate he thought it was for a 1.5"x1.5" hole. The job took a little over two hours instead of the quoted one, but Trent refused to let me pay him for the extra time or the materials he had to purchase because of the larger hole. He was extremely professional asking permission to use my sinks and let me know that his saw was going to be loud. He also cleaned up after himself and the work is top notch. I will look to hire Trent again for my future projects.

I cannot say enough about the quality of work, attention to detail, cleanliness, easy communications, and the "do it right the first time" tone of Chris Ford from Lotus Tile. She cares greatly about her quality of work and it shows! After remodeling our home in Broomfield (with some Bozo tile "experts") we finally found our tile specialist. I wish we would have found her sooner! As long as Lotus tile is around and we need anything related to tile work, she will be the one. We have extensive experience with remodel work over the past 20 yrs, and the lack of quality and experienced tile professionals here in Denver metro area is alarming. I highly recommend you reach out to Lotus Tile and get her on your contractors list for anything tile related. Thank You Chris!

We are very happy with the work ATP Contractors did on replacing our fence. Mike and the other workers were friendly, did excellent work in a fast manner, left our yard clean of debris and on top of that the cost was affordable. We are happy to recommend ATP Contractors.

Nick and Eric remodeled our master bathroom -- everything from rebuilding the shower stall, fixing a plumbing leak, tiling in and around the shower and bathtub, all plumbing associated with three new shower heads and new bathtub hardware, adding can lights, installing a new wall sconce (and outlet), running HDMI from master bedroom to bathroom, making custom mirrors, designing and making a custom barn door (and installing), installing new flooring in master bath and master bedroom, installing new baseboards, installing new vanity and all the plumbing and hardware associated, installing new ceiling exhaust in master bathroom, custom building and installing new glass block windows (2) and finishing exterior of window casing to match rest of house, installing new valves for toilet, and installing new toilet, and many other minor adjustments throughout the project. The best part was working with Nick and Eric throughout the process to continually find the right solution and produce a spectacular new bathroom.

We had nothing short of an amazing experience with Discount Quality Remodeling!!! We had our master bathroom completely remodeled including new shower, new vanity, plumbing for the sink and shower tile work throughout.. We also asked Discount Quality Remodeling to build an accent rock wall in our kitchen, hang new lighting and complete a new backsplash in the kitchen. We couldn't be happier with the new updates in our home! Miguel and Joseph of Discount Quality Remodeling provided our home with everything we asked and then some! They took their time with all details from start to finish and provided insight and feedback to help us make the right decisions with our home remodel needs! We would highly recommend them for any and all home improvement needs!

Armando has now completed several tiling projects for me including removal of existing flooring, installation of new slate tile in two bathrooms and foyer, and a subway tile backsplash in our kitchen. He has been very polite, professional, knowledgeable and fair in his pricing. He works quickly but is also careful to not damage carpet or surrounding walls. I would recommend and use Armando and Mountain Home Renovations in the future!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does it cost to tile a shower?

The cost of tiling a shower depends on two main factors: the size of the shower and the quality of the tiles. In general, most professional tilers charge an average of $25 per square foot of tiled area and the national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The tiles themselves are the greatest variable; the cost depends on their size, shape, pattern and manufacturer. For example, tile purchased at a volume discount from a big-box store cost far less than tiles made in small batches by an artisan ceramics shop. Prices can range from as little as $1 to $50 or more per square foot of tile. Other factors that will drive up the total tile installation cost are grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps or soap holders, and surface prep materials, especially if drywall needs to be replaced before the tile can be installed. Many tile installers will also remove and haul away any old materials from an existing shower installation.

How much does it cost to install a ceramic tile floor?

Tile installation costs for ceramic floors depend on the type of tile you select. You can purchase tile that sells for under $2 per square foot or tile that costs $50 per square foot — or more for artisanal and hand-painted tiles. The cost of labor to install a tile floor will also depend on the tile you select. It is far less labor-intensive to install a white 12-inch by 12-inch square tile than a 2-inch by 2-inch hexagonal tile with a distinct pattern. That extra time and energy equates to a higher per-square-foot installation cost. For example, a flooring pro may charge approximately $3.50 per square foot for labor to install wood-look tile in an area ranging between 6 feet by 24 feet and 8 feet by 48 feet. That same pro may charge $6 or more per square foot for a more intricate pattern, or a smaller space. Some installers may charge a minimum day rate for ceramic tile floor installation, such as $340 minimum per day, to cover business expenses and employee wages. If you’re looking to reduce costs, removing your existing flooring and handling any repairs needed can help eliminate prep work costs. Prep work may be charged per hour and could cost anywhere from $25 to $80 per hour or more, depending on the region and the type of repair work necessary.

How much does it cost to tile a bathroom?

Tile installation costs are a key part of your bathroom remodel costs. The tile you select (which can range from under $2 per square foot to $50 per square foot or more), the demolition and repair work required prior to installation, and the size of the job will all affect cost. You can install tile in the shower, on the counters, on the wall or on the floor. The national average for tile installation cost ranges between $490 and $750. Bathroom tile is easy to clean and durable for daily life. Here are some examples of average bathroom tile installation costs:

  • Tile installation at $25 per square foot of tiled bathroom area.
    • A standard tub and shower combo requires tiles for approximately 60 inches of length. Calculate wall height and add 30 to 36 inches of tub width for the walls at the head and foot of the tub. If the tile walls are 6 feet to 8 feet high, in this example, the tile installation costs would run about $2,000. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with an 8-foot ceiling: $1,450. Price includes materials.
  • Tile installation on a 3-foot by 5-foot regular tub and shower walls with a 10-foot ceiling: $1,650. Price includes materials.

How much does it cost to install tile?

Tile installation costs vary widely depending on the tiles you choose, where you want them installed, and what kind of demolition and surface preparation you need to have done. The national average cost for a tile installation project is $490-$750. The more tiles that need to be cut by hand and laid on the surface, the higher the total cost. Tile installation professionals can handle many different types of stone, ceramic and porcelain tiles, applying them in kitchens, bathrooms, hallways and entranceways. They can create anything from artistic mosaic backsplashes in your kitchen to modern shower enclosures to rustic patios in your backyard. Tile installation professions often can remove existing flooring or old tiles and replace drywall. Tile prices range from $1 to more than $50 per square foot — handmade ones are even priced individually — depending on the material. Rustic, handmade or special-use tiles cost more to install because they must be applied to the surface one by one, rather than in a sheet. For most jobs, tile installation costs are based on the square footage of the project. For example, a standard 6-foot by 8-foot shower tile installation can average $1,200-$1,600, depending on whether the tiles go to the top of the shower or to the ceiling. The total cost of a tiling project also includes the grout and mortar, speciality tiles like bullnose caps, and tile mounting materials like backer board.

How much does it cost to install tiles in a kitchen?

One of the most common kitchen upgrades is installing decorative backsplash tiles in the space between the counters and cabinets. It’s a chance for homeowners to get creative while also protecting the kitchen walls from splashes and stains. Like all tiling projects, kitchen tile project costs depend on the tiles you choose, installation materials such as grout and mortar, and any surface materials, like replacement backer board. The national average for a tiled kitchen backsplash is $490-$750. In general, pricing averages $10-$40 per square foot for installation, not including tile. Some professional tile installers have a minimum day rate for small projects, which averages $350.
