Sorry this pro can’t do your job, but we know other pros who can.
Introduction: I personally work and oversee every job from start to finish. I will customize the job to fit the customer as well as give them realistic expectations regarding the outcome of a restoration project. All of my work photos on website and IG are all of my work. I will not take on a project unless the project will get the desired results for both the customer and myself. There is nothing better than getting "wow" factor from my customers after the job is completed! I love that I can take quality leather furniture that has seen better days and bring it back to almost new as well as save it from our landfills. I love having customers so excited to see the final product and thrilled to not have to spend more to buy new or spend hours of their time shopping. You do NOT need to hire me IF you have mechanical issues for recliners or structural issues. ALSO if your furniture is peeling or flaking, it is bonded, bi-cast, reconstituted leather, blended leather or a man made leather furniture finish, once it starts peeling ( typically 2-5 years of use) it is not worth repairing.

Furniture Upholstery

We didn't end up proceeding with the project we talked about. But he was great to work with. Very helpful. And responded quickly.
Leather Furniture Restorations's reply
Thank you! I definitely can help when it comes to re-dyeing, cleaning and most repairs of leather furniture but if you need new upholstery work, I work with some very qualified in their field and always happy to refer them.

Leather Repair Conditioning and Restoration

Ty from Leather Furniture Restorations Inc. did an awesome job rescuing my leather couch and chair! The job was more complicated then expected (amount of wear, two toned color), yet she completed the work for the quoted price and schedule. The work is amazing -- no sign of the tear, scratches are gone and color is perfect. She completed the work at my home and left everything immaculate! I give her two thumbs up and my thanks!

So glad that I saw the ad for this life saving company! I am the owner of 5 leather chairs. You know, the big ones that cost a fortune to replace. Three of my chairs were severely sun damaged and two had been chewed by a dog. I was going to have to replace all of them and knew that in order to afford it I was going to have to do it one or two at a time. I was dreading it! Not just because of the cost involved, but also the time it takes in shopping for new ons, hopefully finding ones I liked, having the old ones removed and then waiting around for a delivery truck to bring in the new ones. It was especially painful because I absolutely still loved everything about the old chairs. Perfect style, perfect size, perfect color but they were just looking too worn out and tired. When I saw Ty's ad I was super excited to find out that she could fix all of them for less than it would cost to buy even one of the chairs. I didn't even know she could fix the ones with the pet damage. I thought for sure they were trash! After she had fixed the faded ones I was extremely impressed with her work. They literally look brand new!!!! She carefully explained the whole process to me and then was able to schedule an appointment that week. She arrived on time and quickly got to work. She is extremely neat, clean, fast, efficient and does beautiful work. The chairs look brand new. All of my guests have made comments of how great they look. Then she took a look at the other two with the pet damage and without blinking said "oh yea, I can fix that" Again, she did a beautiful professional job! I had no idea this kind of service existed and I am so extremely grateful that I saw her ad. If you have good quality leather, please please do not throw them out. You can get many more years out of them, saving yourself time and money.

Ty quickly responded to my inquiry, made an appointment to come to my home to give me an estimate of the requested job, and was punctual both for that appointment and when she came back to do the work. Her work was professional and very reasonably priced. But what particularly impressed me about her was that she did not try to do related work on my leather furniture but instead happily referred that work out to someone else who specialized in that additional work (relating to the springs). I would have no hesitation in having Ty do additional work for me or referring her to my friends.

My husband and I were amazed when we saw the restoration that Ty Whitehurst did with our 14 year old tan leather sofa--she matched the color exactly. Ty is, not only friendly, but very professional and has excellent work ethics. She not only restored the leather, but analyzed why one section did not recline. Based on her analysis, she ordered a new spring and returned to our home to install the spring--not an easy task! GREAT JOB, TY. Also, after 6 months we noticed a few minor cracks occurred and she graciously returned to our home and spent over an hour fixing the problem.

FAQs

  • What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

While there is a base price for pricing. Many factors come into play that customers do not realize are factored in. Some furniture has more detail to it, and when there is more detail, this lends to more work thus pricing is higher. Nail heads, tufting, tucks, pleats, attached cushions, two-tone finishes, oil damage, pet damage, tears, these all have an effect in the pricing. Also whether or not it can be a partial restoration or needs to be a full restoration. I do have a minimum service charge of $200.00 for the North county San Diego area as well as the Denver Metro area. I come to you and do most repairs on site. This is advantageous when a piece is very large or saves you a pick up and delivery charge from other shops. This can be as much as my minimum service charge plus the repair costs. If you can send photos, most of this detail can be clearly seen to give a very close estimate, so you can decide if you would like to move forward with a restoration of your leather furniture.

  • What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

***** I am now working in BOTH Southern California AND the Denver area in Colorado.****** I typically am asked how the process works since it is not something most people are familiar with and is a specialty field. I like to request photos first and go from there, either via text or email. Many times I can tell from the photos if it is even leather or not. I do have to at times break it to them that they have a man-made leather bi-product or vinyl. If it is something I can help them in or I am able to refer them to another professional if it is structural or something I do not restore. ( cars, purses, shoes, belts, saddles) Most of the restoration work can be completed on site if there is a patio or garage available to work in. Most work can be completed in 1-2 days and upon completion the furniture can be used 48 hours after. Most customers have commented that they did not know this was even a possibility. Most restoration work looks anywhere from 80 to100% better. I give realistic expectations of what can be accomplished in your restoration project as well as what to expect in the future. I can customize a restoration project plan for your quality leather furniture, from wood refinishing, cushion and foam replacement, to new leather sections or cushions sewn or structural issues. I work with some very skilled experts in their field to address your full restoration needs.

  • What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have an artistic back ground of wall finishing and murals. This helps in my finishing process as well as my color process. I have been working with my father and brother for many years prior to going on my own. I have been doing leather restoration full time for over 5 years now. In total, I have over 11 plus years of experience working with restoring leather furniture and collectively with my father ( Leatherman in Colorado) and brother (Leatherman in San Diego previously) who have over 15 years of expert experience. Our leather pigments that we use are from a company that specializes specifically in the leather industry only for over 25 years and their products are exemplary in their field of expertise of leather restoration.
