Suki did a phenomenal job with my two cats. Thoughtful, TRUSTWORTHY, patient and so considerate. She made herself available for the holiday season and even came twice a day, sending photos with each visit. She also lives in Manhattan so I never worried about the metro causing problems with her getting to my place. When I got back, my guys were happy and clearly cared for in my absence (my girl cat gets pissy when she's pissed--if you catch my drift--but I was pleased to find she did not feel compelled to express her anger on my mattress. Thank you Suki!). I couldn't be happier! Suki will definitely be my go to pet sitter from here on out! Highly recommend her.

I can highly recommend Snaggle Foot Dog Walks and Pet Care. I originally hired Judy and her team to walk my little dog once a week, but as you all know plans change and the need became greater than 1 x a week. Judy was very flexible and was able to walk/feed calie to accommodate the extra days/times. there was one time when I needed someone overnight, Judy took my dog to her home for an over night stay. She was so relaxed and happy coming home. If you need a dog walker/dog sitter I can highly recommend Snaggle Foot. If I had not relocated I would still be using them today.

Niamh was amazing. Not only did she help us with handling our puppy, she helped us handle ourselves with our puppy. Her experience really showed. She took our little girl from laying down and cowering and shaking when she saw a car, to sniffing the grass as one was driving by. All in a few minutes. I loved how she reinforced that she does not judge anyone's methods, she may just tweak them a bit to help the learning process. Her positive nature, and the calmness she projected really brought us the confidence we needed as pet owners, while making it an easy learning experience for us and our puppy. The evening after she left was a better evening than we've had in a long time! Thank you!!!

Joyce is fantastic!! My husband and I had a three-month old wheaten terrier puppy when we hired Joyce. We were looking for help with potty training, basic obedience, leashing walking and helping our little guy become a part of our family. We cannot say enough positive things about what Joyce and her training methods have done for us. Our puppy was at ease immediately with Joyce and loves his training sessions. He has come leaps and bounds in his training using her easy to follow methods and improves after every session. After a few short months, he follows commands, is almost house broken and actually listens to us now! Joyce is professional, flexible with scheduling, kind, and very affectionate with our puppy. It's obvious how much she is a natural with animals. We also use Joyce for boarding when traveling. We are confident that our puppy is in safe, capable and loving hands when he spends time at Joyce's house with her (and Corcega!). She'll even send photos, videos and multiple daily calls and texts with updates for you, the individual service she provides for your pup is so much better than doggie daycare. If you are looking for a dog trainer, dog walker or a happy place for your dog when you're away on vacation, we highly recommend Joyce and her services to any dog owner.

We are a household with very long work hours and frequent travel and having a reliable walker and sitter is really key for us. Sarah has been so accommodating and wonderful to our sweet rescue pup Sophie. After recently moving to the area, we originally found another business on Yelp that ended up really mistreating Sophie e.g. left her for hours alone in her crate. So it's such a relief to have found Sarah after that experience and to know our pup is in great hands when we're away. It's really just priceless. Sarah is our go to daily walker and we look forward to her frequent texts with updates from the walk. She's also been very flexible with last minute changes in our schedule including overnight boarding in our home. We really can't recommend her enough and feel she's a very dependable caregiver and excellent communicator.

I began working with Rick about a month ago to assist with my 18-month old pitbull, Petunia. Petunia had become aggressive to strangers (e.g., lunging, barking aggressively) when out in public and in the home and I was very much beside myself with how to address the behaviors. We had attempted obedience training at the pet store which did not correct the problem and she continued to worsen. People were afraid of my little pitty and I was developing a sense of hopelessness and resignation where I no longer even wanted to take her for walks and just figured we would have to live a limited lifestyle with her. As a last ditch effort to address Petunia's aggression, I had a consultation with Rick. He took an hour to meet with us to evaluate her. Petunia aggressively barked and lunged the whole time at Rick, but he thought she could be helped and we signed on for the ride. What a journey it has been. In less than a month, I have a restored sense of hope that Petunia can reach her full potential as a wonderful pet. With several training sessions and several trips to stay with Rick, Petunia is now heeling, is much more under control, is not barking aggressively or lunging on walks, and appears more calm and mellow overall. Rick has also taken much time to continuously meet and/or consult with me and my boyfriend on how to maintain the progress by teaching us how to handle Petunia on our own. We are still in the midst of Petunia's training, but I can see a complete 180 in her and am forever grateful that we made the decision to work with Rick. I highly recommend him without hesitation.

I had the pleasure of meeting Adene when she came to feed and check on my cat several times this summer. She was thorough in asking what kind of care my cat needed, and was specific in how much time she would be able to spend with her. She clearly communicated the timing of her visits, and texted a picture of my kitty on each visit. Adene was wonderful and I will absolutely use her services again in the future! Highly recommended!

Ronald is absolutely amazing! He has been petsitting our dog Ginger for over 10 years. He's very reliable and compassionate when it comes to taking care of our pet. She always greeted Ronald with excitement and lots of love. During her younger years he always kept her active by taking her for long walks and jogging. In her senior years, he was very patient with our Ginger and very loving. He's a great petsitter!!

I have two dogs that are being trained by Mr. John Browne. My first dog Makita is a Siberian Husky that I rescued from the pound over 3 years ago. I was told that she was not able to be trained by the pound and many trainers and training centers. She was even thrown out of one. Mr. Browne was our last hope. Mr. Browne was the only trainer who knew the breed. Within 3months Makita was obedience trained and even able to walk off leash. within another 3 months. She received her AKC CGC Title and even got modeling jobs and a role in a short film. I received an Alaskan Malamute named Balto a year ago. I signed him up with Mr. John Browne and Balto is so well trained that he got his service dog certification and license from our town this past year. Balto is also on TV and does print work as well as therapy work for children and seniors. I continue to bring both of my dogs to Mr. Browne because of the K-9 Centers lifetime training and the expertise of Mr. Browne. The center also has convenient training hours. I highly recommend The K-9 Center for all dogs including family pets, protection training, to working pets of all kinds. I also have to thank Mr. Browne for saving Makita's life.

We have been using License to Leash for a little over a year and could not be happier. She is great! Our dogs love her and she has been extremely accommodating. She is the first walker who actually takes them on long walks and helps train them how to walk on leash (as compared to just letting them play in the backyard). Our neighbors have already started using her.

    About

Working in a hotel, I do housekeeping, and the coops who live there let me take care of their dogs. I walk them and babysit them in case they are alone for too long in the hotel. We also have a special menu for dogs, so I make sure they will get their meals.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does boarding a horse cost?

Finding the right horse boarding location is a big step in a horse owner’s life. This will be the place your horse will live and where you will visit multiple times per week or even daily. The cost of horse boarding will depend on the level of service you desire, the location of the stables, and the luxury level of the property. Here are some examples of average horse boarding costs:

    • Overnight stabling: $30 per horse per night.
    • Partial boarding (owner feeds and mucks): $220 per horse per month, with a three-month commitment.
      • Administration of oral medication: $10 per dose.
      • Bandaging: $20 per event, plus cost of materials.
      • Trailering to vet if owner is unable: $25, plus $25 per hour to wait with horse.
    • Basic full boarding: $325-$350 per month per horse. Includes twice daily hay and daily stall cleaning.
      • Horse training: $20 per session.
      • Pasture turn out: $20 per session.
      • Blanketing: $1 per day/$30 per month.
      • Vet or farrier hold: $20. This means haltering the horse and standing with it as it receives treatment or shoeing.

Where can I board my horse?

You can board your horse at any barn or stable that provides horse boarding services. To find horse boarding near you, read reviews of area locations and speak with equestrian friends to find one with a solid reputation. Ideally, the location will be within a reasonable drive from your home or office. This is especially important if you are paying for partial boarding services and are responsible for feeding your horse and cleaning its stall each day. You may choose your boarding barn or stables based on the services they provide. Some offer more extensive amenities — at an added price — that reduce the amount of work you need to do to keep your horse comfortable. Consider whether you want training, blanketing, exercise and other perks in addition to standard offerings like hay and stable mucking. Your stable may have temperament requirements and proof that your horse has the proper vaccinations required by your state. This protects both your horse and the other horses in the stable. Many states require that locations offering horse boarding services have stable licenses that are renewed each year. Always be sure to enter into a clearly written boarding contract that will cover your horse and belongings in case of accident, and remember our tips for smart hiring.

    What is horse boarding?

Horse boarding is like rental housing for your horse. Horse boarding is helpful for people who don’t have the space or the resources to install and maintain a stable on their property. A horse can be housed in a barn with other horses and receive the care they need. Owners can visit their horse for riding, grooming, training, etc. Horse boarding services may vary based on the company and the price. Some horse boarders may offer short-term boarding of 24 hours to several nights for people passing through an area, while most offer boarding by the month for horses whose owners live in the area. There is partial- and full-service boarding, which indicates how much of the work of feeding the horse and cleaning the stall is the responsibility of the owner rather than the boarding barn. For an added fee, horse boarding can also include grooming services, riding and training, medication administration, and more.

To find the right boarding fit for you and your horse, make a list of your top priorities. These might include immediate access to riding trails, round-the-clock supervision, or a nearby or affiliated veterinarian. Always visit the site to learn exactly where your horse will be kept and whether the barn and grounds are in good condition. Read reviews, and always practice smart hiring. It’s also critical to sign the proper legal documents that protect both you and your horse, such as boarding agreements. Above all, make sure it seems like a place your horse will be comfortable between your visits.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
