I heard of Chef Holiday through a local radio station. They were promoting his company and the idea of having a chef come to my home to make a meal sounded amazing so i immediately set a date. This was to celebrate our 2 year wedding anniversary and the service/food that he gave us was so much better than any restaurant! Normally, it is a waiters job to get you in and out of the door in a very short period of time. I thoroughly enjoy dinners where i can sit back, relax, sip, and eat course by course. I consulted w/ chef via phone a couple of times prior to our dinner date and told him what we like and do not like and I basically gave him freedom to make whatever he wanted. I am glad that i did this because i may have ended up picking the same foods that every restaurant serves. It was nice to put complete trust into his choices! Normally, it is a waiters job to get you in and out of the door in a very short period of time. I thoroughly enjoy dinners where i can sit back, relax, sip, and eat course by course. Everything that chef made us was great! For starters he made us a cocktail similar to a mojito minus that overly sweet taste. It had a spanish twist to it and I want the recipe! For the first course we had a chilled berry soup w/ a rum whipped cream and a flat bread w/ greens, prosciutto, cheese and an apricot jam- all very tasty! Next we had a salad followed by a pasta w/ apples served in a carved out butternut squash bowl! This was great and what a wonderful presentation. For the main course he brought out a plate w/ parma polenta, italian sausage and roasted grapes with a delicious sauce. This was phenomenal! I only wish my stomach was larger so I could have eaten it all. For dessert, we had little German pancakes I believe they were called, with a roasted apple/caramel sauce. The flavors were fresh and amazing. Dessert was accompanied by a hot drink- i forget what was in it but i do know there was gin and strawberries and it was very tasty and nice to have since it was getting cold outside. I will in the future have Chef Holiday over to do a wine or martini and food night! I was wowed and would like to see what else he has up his sleeve. Thanks for making this such a great experience for us!

Incredible! We heard about Chef Nickolas Holiday from friends who have hired him recently. After a few emails and phone calls Chef Nick showed up and served a 6 course dinner for me and 7 of my girl friends. We started with mango strawberry bellinis paired with these baked oyster with cheese and blue berry topping, along with proscuitto wrapped shrimp baked with a balsamic raspberry mixture. The next course was smoked chicken salad with a home made sweet and tangy dressing with goat cheese and grapes. Next was an itlian sausage and spinach pasta in red sauce over rigatoni. Then Chef Nick invited us into the kitchen to watch him cook skate wing, which is a beautiful fish that looks like angel wings. It was the best tasting fish we have ever had outside of Manhattan. For the main entree we had a middle eastern style lamb with a apricot and mint glazed topped crushed pistachios. Simply amazing..... And the presentation was artful. Finally came dessert. Berry filled creppes with butterscotch banana topping. Served with hot gin tea drink which im assuming is a signature thing. All all, the food was INCREDIBlE, the service was perfect and the chef was entertaining. I have and will continue to recommend CT Take Home Chef and Chef Nick to everyone.

FAQs

  • How did you get started doing this type of work?

Ct's Take Home Chef was started by a third generation Chef. The culinary arts, event planning and service is in the blood. Once you do an event with us you will know why we chose this line of work and you will be greatful we did.

  • What types of customers have you worked with?

We specialize in all Personal Chef Services. These commonly include weekly meals for the family or professional on the go, and special menu clients who have specific dietary restrictions. During the summer and holiday season we organize many entertaining wine and martini dinners, which have gained in popularity over the last year.

  • What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Always ensure you are choosing a full service provider with contracts. Many personal chefs will work alone in order to keep their costs down. This will take a negative toll on "service" portion of your event. Also ensure the service includes supplies, groceries and clean up. Often these things will be added to the end of your invoice and greatly raise the amount.
