We spent a great afternoon with Janice at our home today --- While our dog is #1 (fewest) on the list of problems she usually deals with, she fitted us into her busy schedule, which was not just an aide for our family/pack but also for Laura who she is training as another dog therapist... Janice explained to all of us the pack psychology and ways to work on modifying behavior...who knew that diet was a large part of the puzzle? Or that early dog-hood experiences would have such a lasting innate behavioral underpinning... We are looking forward to growing with what we have learned

I have had an excellent experience working with Adrienne Mesko. She provided a 4 week board and train session for my 2 yr old, 85lb. Terrier-mix, Winny. She was immediately responsive to all my inquiries from my initial contact, throughout training and after training was completed. She clearly laid out a plan for my dog's training. She was professional, clear and courteous in all business matters. Adrienne is a top notch dog trainer. She took on the daunting task of working with my difficult dog with confidence and understanding. She provided the level of training that she promised in the amount of time she estimated. She gave regular updates and progress reports. I am thrilled with my dog's progress and behavior. After the training was completed Adrienne spent time with me answering my questions, demonstrating equipment use and worked with me and Winny to transfer the knowledge of methods that worked so effectively with my dog. Due to her efforts I now have a dog who is well behaved and responsive. In addition, Adrienne is a kind and considerate person who took the time to listen and help. She is terrific to work with and I highly recommend her board and train program and off-leash training.

Kelli is awesome! We've only had two training sessions but already have seen a huge difference in our dog. She really focuses on the training issues you are having and helps you work through those. I highly recommend!

I began working with Rick about a month ago to assist with my 18-month old pitbull, Petunia. Petunia had become aggressive to strangers (e.g., lunging, barking aggressively) when out in public and in the home and I was very much beside myself with how to address the behaviors. We had attempted obedience training at the pet store which did not correct the problem and she continued to worsen. People were afraid of my little pitty and I was developing a sense of hopelessness and resignation where I no longer even wanted to take her for walks and just figured we would have to live a limited lifestyle with her. As a last ditch effort to address Petunia's aggression, I had a consultation with Rick. He took an hour to meet with us to evaluate her. Petunia aggressively barked and lunged the whole time at Rick, but he thought she could be helped and we signed on for the ride. What a journey it has been. In less than a month, I have a restored sense of hope that Petunia can reach her full potential as a wonderful pet. With several training sessions and several trips to stay with Rick, Petunia is now heeling, is much more under control, is not barking aggressively or lunging on walks, and appears more calm and mellow overall. Rick has also taken much time to continuously meet and/or consult with me and my boyfriend on how to maintain the progress by teaching us how to handle Petunia on our own. We are still in the midst of Petunia's training, but I can see a complete 180 in her and am forever grateful that we made the decision to work with Rick. I highly recommend him without hesitation.

Michele is very knowledgable when it comes to training dogs. She came one time so far and my almost 1 year old Golden (who pulled me down the stairs and broke 3 of my fingers) is now walking very calmly on a leash.

Ivan Rios seems to be doing a good job in training our dog. Our dog name is Goldie and she is going on 9 months old. I was going to try training Goldie myself, but I do not have the patience or experience to train Goldie. We like Ivan because he is a caring and knowledgeable person. Goldie has a way to go before her training is complete. We feel Goldie is in good hands, and know she will be trained when her training sessions are complete I would like to rate my overall experience again when Goldie's training is complete. I am a "repeat customer" at Top Notch because of the effectiveness of the training. The training is not only for the dog, but also for the handler. There is always a positive environment which makes training something to look forward to. The training is designed in building blocks so that you can expand to advanced levels if you choose. I have recommended Top Notch to many friends and colleagues, who have seen great success with the training sessions.

Jim Helms is a fantastic trainer. He has a connection with his students that makes training their dogs fun. He is always upbeat, gives great compliments, and makes learning fun. He has a wealth of knowledge in the field of dog behavior and training. He helps strengthen the bond between owner and their dog(s), he lets them feel that anything is possible even the most challenging dog. He is professional, honest, and at times rather funny. He is a trainer that is approachable and willing to lend a listening ear and sound advice. As a colleague of his I myself have learned a few tricks from him. Overall, Jim Helms is the whole package from being able to teach dog training classes, tackle difficult cases, teach fun classes like scent work and tricks to agility, he runs successful workshops and his belief that owners should be fully prepared and informed on the what if's as in his First Aid and CPR class, his healthy class for dogs, and so much more. Jim Helms is a top notch Dog Trainer.

The most important lesson that I learned while training my dog at Canine Cadre is communication. Lenny and Mary Ellen of Canine Cadre are excellent in this area. Once the basics were mastered with my dog, I was able to teach my dog to be obedient with hand gestures through Canine Cadre classes. The most important thing to me is Lenny and Mary Ellen has been there throughout the life of my dog. My Carla (Rottweiler) will be 11 years old this October. I highly recommend Canine Cadre.

My wife and I highly recommend stone hill kennel's training program for any dog, but for high drive, dominant or troubled dogs their 6 week in kennel training program is a must. at first glance it seems expensive, but if you break it down over the years you will have a perfect and obedient dog it is not expensive at all. These guys are professionals in every way.Chris helped us before we even got our german shepherd puppy about the dogs place in our pack when we bring him home. This is the part most people don't understand and end up giving their dog away or worse putting the dog down. His many years of dealing with all kinds of what I call " tough "dogs and the mindset of these dogs is so valuable. He really spent a lot of time with us to make sure we understood how to follow through with the training and how to live with a well balanced dog. His staff are all very professional and make you feel at ease. they really spend as much time as you need with them. We can't finish without saying how much we both think of Dan Hartley, he is just a great guy and a super dog trainer. He is the greatest asset to the kennel. he was so patient with us and never made us feel foolish even though we did. He walked us through every step of training, explaining everything. He has handled all types of dogs, and always figures out the best plan for each dog. We had a very tough and dominant german shepherd and Dan did such a great job with him it was unbelievable. The dog is just so obedient and loves to work. Most importantly my wife and the dog are inseparable. it's a great feeling. I have had 4 german shepherd dogs and none as well behaved as our present dog trained at Stonehill. Overall ,I would say Stonehill kennel is an excellent choice for your dog. Whatever type of dog you have. They have the total package for you. Perry and Diane Simone

My husband and I adapted Maryberri a rescue dog, she is a Chihuahua mix she was very timid and sweet but turned very aggressive around her food to the Point we were concerned about having our young grandchildren over to visit. We called Brian Goldrick for an in-home evaluation and training. Brian was very professional and extremely helpful teaching us how to work with Maryberri using the click and treat training, the six class training course has brought out the best in Mary Berry. Still a bit timid but a more relaxed and happy dog. We hope to work more with Brian as a refresher class now and again . Sincerely Sue Bewsee

I have known Missy Kielbasa for 5 years and in that time, she has done an exceptional job at obedience training. She is very professional and my dogs adore her. I have giant breed dogs and they can be challenging to train at times, but Missy knows exactly what to do and I am amazed at how well they do with her. Missy also takes the extra time to help you if you are having a hard time getting a technique just right. A++ Highly recommended!!

About 9 years ago I aquired an adult pit bull that happily lived outdoors with endless amounts of freedom that I now needed to integrate into my home! The first week I could barely hold onto him and walk him outside on my own without fear of him getting away from me or having an altercation. He was a very strong unneutered male that was 9 years old and never needed to follow rules or walk much on a leash. So upset and knowing I needed help, I reached out to Mike D'Abruzzo from K9-1 Specialized Dog Training. After speaking to Mike I definitely felt as though he was the right trainer for my situation and so I decided to move forward with his training. The best decision I ever made for Butkis and myself! Training actually became such an enjoyable bonding time between myself and my dog! I was finally able to walk him on a leash around other dogs, animals and people without him even caring if they were there! I was able to happily live with him inside and was even able to take him on trips to the park and in public without fear of him dragging me down the street! I was able to give him a good rest of his life without compromising how I lived mine. I couldn't have been more pleased with the progress I was able to make and was so happy with the results, that when I aquired my second pit bull Prelude, I knew I would start off training her right away and of course again with Mike. I took her to Mikes group classes which was just as great an experience. It was nice to be around other owners doing the same training with their dogs. I was very pleased that the training in the private lessons and in the group classes were the same and there were no differences in how the training was done. The technique, the results, and the philosophy were all the same. That brings me to my third aquired dog, a large 90lb male german shepard Orfeo. With him I decided to do both private lessons and group classes. Orfeo is a difficult dog in many ways. I know for sure that if i had not used Mikes training with Orfeo I would have ran into problems. This dog is not a dog that you can force to do anything he does not want to do, and he is also a dog that you can not just use treats to get him to do what you need him to do either. He is stubborn, and extremely strong willed. He requires a very delicate balance and knowledge that Mike was able to teach to me. If it were not for the knowledge and training that I recieved from Mike, I would never have been able to handle these 3 tough breed dogs. Mike has been an excellent teacher and trainer full of professionalism and patience. After training with him I have always had full confidence to take any one of my dogs out into any situation knowing I would be able to have full calm control of them. I would definitely recommend Mike to anyone looking for a trainer.

Brenda helped my boyfriend and I work with Zoe , our Pomeranian mix) on how to sit ,taught us an emergency recall , worked on "down" , "leave it", and also for Zoe to be more comfortable walking on her leash which was an issue we were having. Brenda did an amazing job with Zoe , she really knew what she was doing and knew the best way for our puppy to learn ! Zoe picked up on everything really quickly! Brenda also worked with my boyfriend and I so that WE knew how to help and teach Zoe. Brenda also helped Zoe with her potty training as she was only 3 months when we started training. She's doing really well with it and one of the great things about working with Brenda is she travels to YOU! It's a great convenience to be able to train your dog in THEIR home versus bringing them somewhere to be trained. Your dog learns in their environment and aren't distracted by other dogs. She shows you the best way to set up for potty training so your dog learns quickly to go outside instead of the house. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone , she's a true animal lover and works with your dog until they get it , she went above and beyond , was always on time, and was a pleasure to work with!

About

I have had customers come to me when I lived in Texas asking me to train their dogs, some Doberman, Great Dane that was a challenge he was 4 yrs old. It is advised to train a dog as early as possible. The younger the better. The old saying goes you can't teach an old dog new tricks is hog wash,, A dog loves to learn if you give it the right incentive. some dogs it doesn't take long to train and others seems like forever, but I enjoy the challenge with each and every one .
