Very comfortable around aggressive dogs. Understand dog language very well. Very nice person and polite. Thank you for your help.
Our new rescue pup Roxie needed basic obedience training and we discovered Suzanne Rodda while searching the internet for local dog trainers. Suzanne knows her stuff ! We have worked with her over the last month and a half and the difference in Roxie is obvious. Suzanne's approach is to not only train your dog, but to train YOU to work with your dog as well. It's a win win combination. We had a few challenges facing us along the way BUT Suzanne's flexibility and commitment to us made working with her easy and a pleasure. She has our recommendation as an excellent trainer.
Excellent, Robin is a great dog trainer. I can see the difference in my puppy only after 2 trainings!
Adrienne Mesko is an outstanding dog trainer, and those seven words are an understatement. I have only superb things to say. Adrienne has impeccable training credentials, a lifetime spent around animals, a perfect environment for training dogs inside and outside, and, most of all, a sound, consistent, thoughtful, intelligent and effective approach. And very reasonable rates for the astonishingly good training results. When I looked for a dog trainer on Thumbtack, it was as an almost a last ditch attempt. I'd tried everything with Kai, it seemed: not once, but twice at New Skete, the best in-home trainers for problem dogs that I could find in NYC, consults with excellent vets, Chinese herbs, nutrition changes, working at home every day, every leash/harness/muzzle/collar imaginable, but still he had seriously problematic behaviors: over-protectiveness and resulting aggression that led to lungeing and barking at other dogs and people and even several biting incidents. He's a strong adolescent male GSD, and his pulling on the leash led to dislocated knees and herniated discs. He's a love of a guy, however, and he'd had a difficult first six months (4 homes), and it was worth anything to give him a chance. So I went on my new Thumbtack app (it had worked well for me before) and Adrienne's credentials and skills sounded perfect for what we needed. You can see from the photo below how well he does with other dogs after his "board and train" with Adrienne. He's a dream on a leash. He's well behaved at home, hanging out peacefully on his raised bed "place," no more destructive behaviors to get attention. He listens, pays attention, and stops instantly when told "no," rather than making his own rules. His behaviors now match the smart, affectionate dog he always was on the inside. She's trained his humans to use the training approach she taught him, so all he's learned can come home with him. I will be thanking Adrienne Mesko for the rest of my days! And I'd be happy to talk about her work in person.
Andrew has been great to work with. He has excellent attention to detail, and followed up on all my questions and concerns. He uses a very positive approach, which is very effective. Andrew is a very talented dog trainer, and I highly recommend him.
Ken was my first experience with professional dog training. I'm Amazed! Simple applicable success from the very first session. Positive reinforcement and strategies for overcoming frustration (more for the humans than the puppies) transformed the behavior of our Wilson - a rescue with a little bit of shyness inside a large body. Ken's guidance and constant reassurance gave me confidence and helped Wilson transfer energy into play resulting in a puppy who is undercontrol and safe in any environment.
Jessica has been instrumental in helping us transition to our new life as dog owners! She is super competent/ experienced with dogs, training and dog behavior/ psychology. She is also super reliable, trustworthy and kind. I couldn’t recommend her more.
Joyce is fantastic!! My husband and I had a three-month old wheaten terrier puppy when we hired Joyce. We were looking for help with potty training, basic obedience, leashing walking and helping our little guy become a part of our family. We cannot say enough positive things about what Joyce and her training methods have done for us. Our puppy was at ease immediately with Joyce and loves his training sessions. He has come leaps and bounds in his training using her easy to follow methods and improves after every session. After a few short months, he follows commands, is almost house broken and actually listens to us now! Joyce is professional, flexible with scheduling, kind, and very affectionate with our puppy. It's obvious how much she is a natural with animals. We also use Joyce for boarding when traveling. We are confident that our puppy is in safe, capable and loving hands when he spends time at Joyce's house with her (and Corcega!). She'll even send photos, videos and multiple daily calls and texts with updates for you, the individual service she provides for your pup is so much better than doggie daycare. If you are looking for a dog trainer, dog walker or a happy place for your dog when you're away on vacation, we highly recommend Joyce and her services to any dog owner.
We have tried many dog trainers with many different techniques over the 35 years of having dogs. None came anywhere close to the effectiveness of Rick's handling of our golden doodle. We were on the verge of giving our dog away when we first met Rick. After a reasonable number of sessions, he transformed him into a completely different and oh so delightful pet. And the neat thing about Rick's techniques, our dog showed improvement after the very first session and just continued to get better as we went through the winter. Rick truly worked magic.
When I found Christine on Thumbtack, I was at the end of my rope. My boyfriend and I had adopted a 1 year old American bulldog mix from a rescue in NY and were having trouble getting him to listen to us or bond with us, were experiencing a lot of behavioral issues and even some aggression and were considering bringing him back because we felt we were in over our heads. We had reached out to the rescue we adopted him from for help finding a trainer and they kept blowing us off. The rescue claimed to have spent donor money on his training, but all he had really learned was how to get treats and would not even do basic commands like sit or stay if food wasn't in the picture. Finally, in desperation, I googled dog trainers in my area and thumbtack popped up. I filled out a form and within minutes I received a reply from Christine DiCarlo at Canine Communications. I emailed her and she said I could call her any time so I did so immediately. Over the phone she could sense how desperate I felt and she drove an hour to come meet with us. She immediately assessed the situation and explained to me what was going on and how to fix it. We have been working with her for about 6 weeks and both humans and dogs are doing much better and have settled into our new lives. We even adopted another rescue puppy and Christine told me exactly how to introduce the pup to the dog and the home, thus saving us future problems. There have been a couple of desperate phone calls to Christine and every time I'm freaking out, she talks me off the ledge and everything settles back down. Without Christine, I don't think we would have gotten through the rough patches. She has trained me in what to do to have well behaved and secure dogs and in how to read my dogs because before her, I have to admit, I was clueless and an emotional wreck. We are all so lucky to have found her and her services. She really cares about us and our dogs, she knows what she's doing and she has saved my family and my sanity!
First session of dog training. Trainer was prompt, knowledgeable and articulate.
Josh is an amazing trainer and very dedicated. He was able to try many different methods of training when one didn't work for our dog.
Gus is very professional and knowledgeable about dog psychology and is great in explaining dog behavior. We consulted with him to try to figure out the causes of our dog's aggressive behavior towards other dogs and the best ways of dealing with it. Gus was able to pinpoint the issue right away and gave us some hands on tips that we are going to use going forward. I would highly recommend him as a trainer.
Sue is doing a fantastic job with Jackson. The daily updates and videos showing his progress let us know that we made the right decision in selecting Bone-afide Dog Training.
Debbie was wonderful! She clearly cares very much for dogs and it shows through her work. She’s very knowledgeable, helpful and sweet. We have worked with many different trainers and my pup was the most comfortable around Debbie. That’s the most important to me.
I trained my dog Aldo with John for about 1.5 years had a great time and learned a lot
Wow, I have had several trainers for me and my service dog Tron. I love and respect "DogChick" Charlene. She is always available to me. I have had terrible experiences while traveling with Tron. I am not blind or deaf and suffer greatly from the ignorance and bias of those who look at me and wonder why I would need a dog or scooter. Anyway, I have called The DogChick from Ohio, Idaho, Colorado, Nevada and at all hours of the day and night and she has helped me educate the ignorant who either work at or run the hotels I have stayed at. No matter what my need is with Tron, we can see her and she will help me find a way to help Tron understand what I need. He and I get refresher courses as needed. You see, he is a pitbull and the three of us are creating a wonderful service dog in Tron. Thank you Charlene. I would and have recommended you to anyone who needs a dog trained for personal use, service use, therapy use, etc. Again "Thank You" for your love and concern. Tron and I love you back.
Chris was such a pleasure to work with! I have a 2 yr old male GSD that was out of control- he was very aggressive with people and dogs alike. We searched and spoke with many "qualified" dog trainers to no avail. After speaking with Chris, my husband and I were confident that he could help us. And that he absolutely did! He explained to us that each dog is different so it may be one session, it may be 4, but, he will fix it. And he did! 2 sessions and we are now the proud owners of a well behaved, proper boy. Highly recommend! Thanks again Chris!
Regina is an amazing dog trainer. In just one visit I have had major improvements with my two year old dog. She a very calm and patient trainer. I would strongly recommend her. I plan on continuing with her.
Sherry was and still is an excellent dog trainer for my puppy. She was referred to me by an old friend and from the first day that we met, she was very courteous and professional. She explained everything that she was going to do with my puppy and even gave options on payment plans. Ever since Sherry started with my puppy, who is now 14 months old, he has been an excellent addition to the family. My family owes much of his success to Sherry. Thank you so much.
I have worked with Saul twice over the last ten years and each time I was astonished at his ability to connect and understand dogs. Both of my dogs were adult shelter rescues, the first came from the shelter with an aggressive energy, the second a completely disconnected dog - without responding to anything or anyone. It's not just about teaching the basic commands so you have a dog that is well behaved and can go with you anywhere, but equally or more importantly understanding the dog's psyche and knowing how to get through to that particular dog. Saul just has that ability! There is no other trainer for me, Saul is the one for me and my four legged family. Betsy H.
