She's so personable and yet so professional at the same time. Her passion for music and singing is undeniable and it shows in her lessons. With just 2 lessons so far, my fiance has noticeably improved vocally.

I started taking guitar lessons from Sandi Mascola when I was entering my freshman year of high school in 2004. I had zero musical experience beforehand but was interested, and she was one my best friend's aunts and I had heard great things. I fell in love with music, her teaching style, and the way I would leave each lesson learning something new. I ended up taking lessons for about 4 years, and I can honestly say Sandi taught me everything I knew about guitar, as well as life lessons along the way. I haven't taken a lesson since 2008, and still to this day refer to her as my aunt. She was an amazing mentor and role model and helped me grow as a guitar player and person. I don't have a bad word to say about her teaching style, and can truthfully say that it was the best money I've ever spent!

She is extremely well versed in vocal training, various types of repertoire, classical and secular styles and piano/accompaniment. Half a year ago when my husband and I were looking for a piano teacher for my 7 year old daughter who has never learned piano before, we were cautious and had quite a few discussions, as we think the first teacher has a big impact on new learners. And we were also a little worried she may find piano boring, which is kind of children's natural attitude toward something they regard as "not fun". We feel very lucky to find David. To say it based on our experience, he is really the best piano and music teacher we could expect. He is excellent in piano skills, and he has a systemic teaching schedule, which makes learning easier for beginners. Even better he is also a composer and he is very knowledgeable in music theory. I really appreciate that my daughter is able to learn how to play piano as well as some level of music theory at a younger age. Furthermore, he is so friendly and humorous, he has tremendous patience with kids, the lessons are so fun, and that goes really well with my daughter, who now thinks David is her teacher as well as friend. And he really cares for his little student! That being said, he is also a strict teacher with high expectations from his students. We are really happy of the progress my daughter has made in the past a few month, and that she is so interested in piano and keeps learning. We heartfully recommend David as piano/music teacher for similar-aged children.

Debi was the most respectful business-oriented ESL teacher for me when I lived in Boulder, CO; after I moved out from there, she has been a dependable person for me to ask a variety of business related English questions. After a while, I decided to resume our ESL lessons through video Skype; her classes are always well planed, goal-oriented, and at the same time, very flexible. I enjoy her classes every week while learning new aspects of English as well as improving my English.

Bob is an excellent teacher! I have been taking bass guitar lessons with him for the past 4 months. As an adult just beginning to learn the bass, I am very happy that Bob tailors the lessons for me and my interests. From the beginning, we played songs from musicians that I enjoy (Black Sabbath, The Kinks, The White Stripes) and not the simplistic Mary Had a Little Lamb stuff you find in most beginning guitar books. Bob also incorporates music theory into our lessons in a fun and interesting way. For example, we'll be working on a Black Sabbath riff and he'll use it to demonstrate the pentatonic scale. Bob is kind, friendly, and professional. Our lessons start on time and he uses every minute of the lesson to its max. I am always excited to go to each lesson. I would highly recommend Bob to anyone looking to learn the guitar or bass guitar!

My daughterhas been taking lessons with Johnathan for 6/7 months now. We came from out if state where she had been with another instructor for about a year and a half. We are so glad that we found Jonathan! My daughter is 6, and she really loves music so we did not want the old strict standard teacher who might end up making her hate the piano. Jonathan is amazing with kids and also an extremely talented pianist. He is so patient and calm, and brings a natural enjoyment to the lessons. He plays duets with my daughter during lesson (even with my other kid jumping around!) which I feel brings an important depth to my daughter's understanding of music. I really feel that with Jonathan as our teacher, my daughter will continue to love and enjoy music.

I am a history professor at CCSU, and Matt came to my attention through the recommendation of our Music faculty. Prof. Linda Laurent knew I was looking for a student or former student who could teach a 50+ history geek who hadn’t played in over forty years. She immediately responded that Matt was my person. Matt is an excellent teacher, in part because he is a good listener. We started in January, and before we did anything he asked what my goals were, how quickly I wanted to move along, and why I wanted to learn to play. He then had me play a little of what I had been tinkering with and we set up a plan. Knowing that I never intend to audition for an orchestra, but that I was hoping to use music as recreation, relaxation, and as a means to enjoy learning something new, Matt then structured our lessons. We meet every second week for an hour. During the lessons, Matt is great. We first talk about what I got to, what I enjoyed, what went well, and where I had trouble. He then has me play a bit (only stopping me when I’m WAY off track), and then he reminds me about technique or form. We use a couple of books, but he does more than just “assign” the next piece. We talk about what skills and methods the piece is helping me learn. He asks how I practice a new piece, and then I attempt to learn something new while he is there so he can watch my process. His corrections are clear and helpful, never judgmental. If I am not getting something, he will play a bit to show me or have me try other ways to figure it out. I’ve especially enjoyed his explanations about music theory. He gives a very clear explanation of chords, scales, and why certain notes go together. I can then hear that (surprisingly!) in my own halting attempts. That’s cool. This approached has worked for me. I’m sure Matt will have a different, and equally effective, approach for a young child just learning or a high school student hoping for a music scholarship. I can't recommend him more highly.

Lynn is my music hero ! She can listen to any song and write down the chords. She will adjust to make it easier or harder whatever your abilities. I have a busy schedule and often don't have time to practice between lessons and she is cool with that. She also will adjust lesson times when she is able which fits my hectic schedule. I'm glad my first guitar teacher "fired" me ....that allowed me to meet Lynn

Chris can teach both drums (drum kit) and various percussion instruments (tympani, tuned percussion, etc.). I am taking lessons from Chris mainly to learn basic rock drumming on a standard drum kit. He is a wonderful teacher. He'll give you valuable lessons not only on playing the drum kit, but also on good drumming fundamentals, such as proper stick grip, how to position your hands on the stick, and stick control, speed and independence. He will also instruct you in good habits and tips for practicing the drums between lessons. I very highly recommend Chris as a drum and percussion teacher.

Jeanne is a wonderful musician and teacher... She truly cares about her students and wants them to be successful in learning to play the piano and enjoy playing it as well. She teaches in a patient, positive manner, and adapts her teaching methods to the needs and knowledge level of the student. Her upbeat personality and love for sharing her knowledge helps to inspire and motivate her students. She provides feedback and answers questions to improve their skills and often challenges them to learn pieces, play duets, learn improvisation,. etc., that they may have thought they couldn't do. Her prices are very reasonable as well. Thanks, Jeanne! :)
