B_entertained DJ's & More was such a fantastic choice! From the beginning of my search for a DJ I interviewed many DJ's and connected with Mike, the owner. I hired them for the DJ, photo booth and video montage, all offered through this company. When I arrived at my venue, I met the DJ, MC, dancer, and photo booth operator. ABSOLUTELY a high energy group that kept it up all night! I had last minute changes and Steve, our DJ, had no problem changing songs. The MC, Danny, was keeping the party moving all night, dancing and even the guest of honor happily danced. Their dancer, John, was Fantastic! Not only was John a great dancer, he was perfect for our group of people. He had the guests copying moves and out on the dance floor all night. The open air photo booth was a hit, everyone, even my parents went up and took pictures. The photo montage was up on the screen all night and everyone loved seeing themselves as it played during the night. My favorite was the the energy in the room and keeping everyone moving. It was fantastic! The music always makes a party and with B_entertained DJ's & More, I wasn't disappointed. My guests gushed over the Steve, Danny & John. They all had so much fun and that's what every host wants for their event.

Chris was great, he was the DJ for our wedding, we just wanted some background music for a few hours. He was there early and ready to go. He played the songs from our list and was very pleasant and easy to work with. He even packed my tent up at the end, which I really appreciated. I would definitely recommend Your Way Entertainment for any DJ needs.

I was blown away with the fantastic quote Sunshine Entertainment gave me for my wedding reception, much more value for the price. the reception was fantastic, played all requests, played dance videos, and even went on the dance floor and lead everybody in line dances. Definitely will hire again - for an anniversary or something.

We found Marc with only 2 weeks before our wedding. Marc was amazing to work with. Marc showed great communication prior the the wedding. Marc stayed out of the way durning the wedding while still getting a video of everything we requested. We highly recommend Marc to anyone looking for a videographer!!!

First & Last knows what to capture and how to capture each special moment. They got to know us as individuals and as a couple. There didn't seem to be much need for questions. We completely trusted them and they came through for us. Their videos and photography were of professional quality with an artistic eye to capturing each moment the way we would want to remember our wedding. I've watched our wedding video more than 10x and each time I feel like I get to relive our wedding all over again.

I hired Dmitry for a company video. I was extremely happy with the end result. It's impossible to not get what you want with the way Dmitry leads you through the creation process. Will definitely be working with him again.

I got a recommendation to hire L. Llewellyn, from a friend who'd hired him for some video editing work. I was skeptical, as I liked his video work he'd done for a friend, but I wasn't sure about his artwork abilities. Anyway, I'd hired him to make a pen and ink drawing, from a photo of my sister and I was very pleased with what he'd done. I think L. Llewellyn does great work (this is the way the art appears on L. Llewelllyn's website at www.alphamediaworks.com).

Positives: was unobtrusive, quick to put the video together, and the video clip was fun with some good footage. Negatives: video clip didn't have enough of bridal party and our parents (ex. Mostly saw the back of my mother-in-law's head in the video and it did not show flower girls, ring bearer, and in laws going down the aisle or coming into the reception) When I nicely brought up making changes (which I had been willing to pay for) I got a very rude response back. Also, included in my contract was raw footage, which turned out to only be short clips of limited parts of the night--very disappointing.

Margaret was absolutely amazing! When my videographer cancelled a week before our wedding I didn't know what to do. She reached out to us at the last minute and saved the day. We couldn't imagine our day without a video. Thankfully Margaret was available, she was always around recording which is exactly what I wanted. Highly recommend!

I'm glad I hired Joey to video my surprise engagement proposal in Central Park (at the Wagner Cove gazebo) on March 24, 2016. Joey took the time to survey the gazebo and identify how many cameras he'd need to capture the proposal perfectly. He was also collaborative and was willing to listen to my suggestions. The final, edited video was simply spectacular; every angle was beautifully captured and the sound quality was on point. Joey is a fantastic videographer, and I would highly recommend him to anyone who'd like to capture a moment on video perfectly; he doesn't disappoint!

Peter has been our go to video producer for years and is now a very important member of our team. He provides outstanding input on project planning and then delivers an excellent product on time and does so within budget. The quality of our video projects has improved greatly over the years and it is due to Peter's willingness to provide advice and leadership on projects. Great guy to work with and he makes our company better.

After many disappointing conversations with "would be" event planners and listening to them talk AT me rather than to ME... I came across SVN Events and gave them a call. It quickly became evident; after speaking with Steve, that I needed to search no further and I enlisted his services to help make my once childhood dream a reality. Working with Steve from SVN events was an extreme pleasure. He was super attentive to detail; big and small, refreshingly creative as well as resourceful, and extremely professional and responsive. I reached out to SVN Events to help oversee and coordinate my summer wedding...which entailed 300+ attendees, many years of visions and very vocal family members that; at times, were opinionated and aggressive. This proved to be no match for Steve and he was able to work with and relate to them all. He was dedicated to the process and delivered on all of the visions that I had always dreamed of. He took the time to explore and discuss all of my immediate needs and concerns and even gave me more attention than I think I deserved. Any "obstacle" or concerns I may have had at any point throughout the wedding planning was immediatly addressed and resolved by his professionalism and expertise. I dont think I realized just how much work Steve really did until I saw evidence in the photo and video footage and received countless compliments after the event from attendees. SVN events delivered above and beyond anything I had envisioned for my special day and without him I am certain the day would not have been as incredible as it truly was. Magical doesnt even begin to do it justice and two years later it is still being remarked about as the best wedding people have ever been to. I attribute much of that to Steve and SVN Events and am fortunate to have found them.

I was totally sold on Lima Productions from the moment I first saw her work, right down to her last shots and receiving our video. Alice has a great personality which makes her so easy to work with. This is just what you want when you start feeling the pressure of the day. I personally appreciate how Alice was able to capture all the right moments with such high quality cinematography, and at the same time never getting in the way. Alice is totally dependable, trustworthy, and most importantly punctual. What took her over the top for me was her attentiveness to our needs and flexibility. Thank you Lima Productions!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
