FAQs
- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
I charge different rates based on lesson length. I may recommend certain lessons lengths to begin with (ie. 30-minute lessons for those in early Suzuki Book 1), but I am very flexible as we determine what works best for the student.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
In addition to completing several Suzuki trainings (Every Child Can, Suzuki Principles in Action, Volume 1, and Volume 2), I have also completed certifications as a Music Together instructor and through Berklee certifications in Voice Technique and General Music Studies. I earned my Masters degree in Urban Studies: Community Arts to equip myself for implementing community renewal through arts-based programming.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I grew up in a Suzuki program that placed equal emphasis on service and musical excellence - leading to a difficult decision in college. I opted to forgo a degree in music in favor of a degree aimed toward social work. But before even graduating with my bachelors degree, I was asked to teach violin for an afterschool program in a very low income area of Hartford - helping me realize that I could pursue a career that combined my passion for serving others and for creating beautiful music. I now am a full-time strings instructor who uses musical excellence to connect diverse communities and provide equal learning opportunities for low income students.
