Harry was awesome! We had what I thought was a leaky pipe in the basement but turned out to be a leak higher up behind the actual shower head. We were worried about needing to remove tiles or cutting into the sheetrock on the other side, but Harry did everything he could to avoid that, and was actually able to take care of the issue without any mess. Three things stood out to me in my experience with Harry which make me happy to recommend him to others: 1.Harry couldn't come out the day I made the thumbtack request but he helped me troubleshoot the issue over the phone and via text. Never had anyone offer that before. 2. Harry is super nice. Friendly, upbeat, extremely personable. I generally don't like people so that's saying a lot! 3. His rates are reasonable and he charged for the exact amount of time he was here. No rounding up an extra hour, no funny $20 charges for a $2 part. I'm pretty frugal (or cheap if you ask my wife) so I appreciated that. Very glad I called him. Will not hesitate to call him for future jobs when needed.

Harry's communication was excellent, responded within two hours to each contact. We hired Harry to fix a leak in our double-bowl kitchen sink. He quickly isolated the problem, and repaired it. He was knowledgeable, efficient, neat and polite. Very "husband-for-hire", I felt comfortable having him in our home. My husband asked him to fix a problem with one of our garage door openers. Once again, he isolated the problem, solved it and fixed it. His price was lower than he quoted (first visit and quote were no charge) and very, very reasonable. Overall, outstanding experience with Harry, we will be calling again and again.Thank you, Harry!

This awkward leak (awkwardly timed, as well) was fixed in a workmanlike manner, and Harry was well-informed, helpful, and efficient.

As anyone who lives in New England knows, our weather can run anywhere from decent, to pleasant, to quite hellish at times. Our relatively flat carport was originally built with the house (in 1960). After 56 years, it truly began to show its age. Years and years of heavy snow, incessant heat, rain, and New England weather in general adversely affected it to the point where it began to sag and leak. Despite my attempts, water found its way from its roof through to the beams, and rotted it from the inside. When we noticed the flashing buckling near the 4x4 supports - and the carport edge sagging over our vehicles - we knew it was time to take it down before it came down on its own accord. As I always do, I searched for three (3) contractors to get a good quote on the job, but also to get a feel on who would be right for the job. Out of the three I found on Thumbtack, Joe Hernandez of V&G Enterprise was the only contractor who made the trip to our home to inspect the work and offer a quote on the demolition. (In fairness, one contractor was sent pictures, but declined the job stating it was “too small.” The third contractor didn’t bother to respond, even though they were sent measurements, too.) It took a little while for the job to be done. However, that was due in part to the weather and other pressing issues (one of them being how the carport was originally attached to the house). But, Joe and his crew safely removed the carport and an old extension to it (probably added years after the house was built). His biggest challenge was trying to match the siding. We can only guess as to how old the original vinyl siding was, since it was present when the house was purchased back in 1996. Joe went out of his way to find siding that would match (as close as possible) what was already on the house. Despite this challenge, he made it work with what he was able to find. As far as the quoting process, he was relatively in line with that we had budgeted. He stuck to the terms of the contract: portion down for a deposit; portion for half completion of job; and the balance due at the end of the job. He is both licensed and insured. He endeavored to get the proper permitting. All of these things are requirements that are just as important to me as the quality of the work. Joe is a personable individual. He’s easy to speak with and honest about the work he performs. He kept the work area clear and clean, and even power-washed an area that wasn’t part of the work space. Should I have a need for any future work to be performed on our home, I wouldn’t hesitate to ask if Joe were able to do it. My personal opinion is that a homeowner would be quite satisfied having Joseph Hernandez as the contractor. Joe Bristol, CT

We had a leak in the second floor bathroom that was pouring water into the first floor ceiling below. I contacted Joe who responded immediately, even on a Sunday! He went to the house, worked with the tenants and fixed the problem in a very economical and quality way. Joe was very professional and did high quality work at a very affordable rate. His plumbing and general skills are very strong. Great job Joe and look forward to working with you in the future!

We hired Joe for a completely clogged toilet and leaking tank. Joe was able to clear the clog in no time and gave us different options to repair the tank. He showed my husband why the repairs needed to be completed. He was very professional and went out of his way to travel 40 minutes to our home on a Sunday to get the job done. We will definitely be hiring Joe for future jobs. So glad we found him.

I recently purchased an antique house that had lain vacant for several years. I went to Thumbtack to find qualified tradespersons to make the necessary repairs to the structure, plumbing, electrical, roof, and siding. I feel fortunate to have found everything I need at J and M Plumbing and Construction Company. Michael and Sean are not only experts in their fields, but they “get” old houses and genuinely love to find solutions to the complex problems inherent in their restoration. They listened as I described my vision as well as budget limitations and are designing a plan to make the house safe and habitable, and eventually bring it back to it’s eighteenth century glory with the comforts of today. So far, they have met with the electric company and town building-inspector, and removed the old linoleum and unsightly cabinetry to reveal the original flooring. Plans are in the works to stabilize the structure, and install a new roof and rear siding. Michael and Sean have been highly professional in their dealings with me. They have provided a written invoice with detailed description of the work and prices. They have offered great suggestions for keeping costs down without compromising either safety or aesthetics. I am pleased and impressed with the work done so far, and look forward to continuing my restoration project with J and M Plumbing and Construction Company.

These gentlemen are true professionals. They knew I was working on a budget and they helped me figure out what best fit my needs. They even showed me the poor work that the original plumber did in my home, which we knew some of and they found a problem that was really about to happen and fixed it before we had no water from our well tank. I would trust these guys to do everything. They did my water heater, my well tank and they did the electrical, since I went from oil water tank to an electric water tank. The reason, I have solar panels. They kept in contact with me if they were going to be a few minutes late and they are so warm and friendly, like they're my closest Best Friends and family. They are now my go to guys for everything house related and they do in ground sprinklers and wells. I will be doing business again.

J & M came in to do a basic pipe leak in our basement and change out a water filter system. We had our furnace scheduled to have it's yearly service the following day by a different company we always use. Fortunately for us, Mike and Sean took a look at our furnace and found that our furnace hadn't been properly cleaned in years. They cleaned our furnace and installed a new combustion kit. It was filled with debris and was at risk of the boiler cracking. They were thorough, professional and we HIGHLY recommend them. Mike and Cheryl A.

David came over and realized we were stuck: I was trying to fit a European bidet into an American pipe system. He suggested purchasing a step-down connector, which I did, and talked me through fixing it myself, which I also did. Thanks to his helpful suggestions, I finally have a working bidet! He knew his way around the pipes, and knew what he was talking about in regards to what to do with them. Would hire again.

I first call rooter constructions because I have an on going leak from one of my bathrooms. It has been going on and off for the last 20 years but this time it was really bad. Anthony came in for a diagnostic visit and show me what and where it could be. Unfortunately they had to remove the wall between the 2 bathrooms to get to it. The work was done the next day and they put everything back together cleanly and nicely afterwards. Anthony had taken a series of photos to show me what the problem was. Then I was given 2 options . One was to just fix the problem, the other to redo the whole bathroom. I chose to redo the whole bathroom. The price was fair. The work was done quickly. I chose the fixtures I wanted and they put it in. They even pick up a vanity and shower stall for me that was not available around my area. The crew was very friendly and professional. Communication was easy , they were very responsive. I always get a respond either the same day or no later then the next day, even on weekends. The whole remodeling took 2 and a half weeks and every day after they were done they always clean up and leave the area nice and clean Anthony was great. I would highly recommend Anthony and his crew to anyone YLeung

We had a clogged bathroom drain. Not a huge issue, but a big inconvenience for our young family. These guys did a great job of clearing the clog and were very conscientious about their work, including wearing disposable booties over their work boots to keep our house clean. We most appreciated their courtesy, honesty, and professionalism. Lots of plumbers could do have done this job, but these guys were refreshingly straightforward without being pushy. They took the time to patiently explain the problem and what we could do to avoid similar problems, and costs, in the future. We'll definitely use Available Rooter Construction for all our future plumbing needs.

I've spent countless hours reading customer reviews, canvassing contractor's website, viewing multiple social media platforms in search of a carpenter that meets my criteria which is honest, skilled/knowledgeable, trustworthy, clean and considerate. Basically I was looking for a professional who would listen to what I wanted and then do it. I have found this request extremely difficult to achieve. Ergo, I will try to further describe my expectations and ultimately the carpenter I found, Frank Altieri of Altieri Construction who not only meet my criteria but also exceeded my wildest dreams by transforming my space into the beautiful, relaxing, serene room it was meant to be. A carpenter who would treat (e.g., not track mud throughout my house, unnecessary dirty hands on walls, using a drop cloth to place tools on instead of my hardwood floor) my home/items in it with respect. Frank placed drop clothes- CLEAN drop clothes throughout my house. He used plastic to cover areas a drop cloth couldn't be used. One rainy day his crew needed to come in & out of my house multiple times, walking through a muddy patch each time. His crew took the time to take on & off booties (cloth cover wraps) so that my floors would not get destroyed. These are the little things to me that make all the difference in the world. A carpenter who was as considerate of my time as they are of their own. Now having said that, I am very familiar with the day to day scheduling difficulties a tradesmans encounters due to the inability to predict the length of time each job may be. I understand the many variables (e.g., having to leave a job to get a part, delays at stores when buying materials, having to load & unload materials, setting up & breaking down jobs, travel time, traffic, discussion with customers that take longer then expected, having to get fuel, pulling off road to take a call, etc.) a tradesman must deal with. Although I understand these challenges, the tradesman I hire must be one that is considerate enough to call/text if the time needs to be changed. The office staff with Altieri Construction did contact me prior to my schedule job start date to inform me of a conflict and that we would need to reschedule. My job ended up being delayed for almost 2 weeks because of commitments on both of our ends. I have to admit I did understand but of course I was disappointed. I wanted my job done yesterday I was ready to go why wasn't he? Then I realized the world does not revolve around me and although I was hiring Altieri Construction I did not own them. So I waited and once the wait was over well... I WAS TICKLED PINK, ON TOP OF THE WORLD, OVER THE MOON, HAPPY AS A CLAM, ON CLOUD NINE IN SEVENTH HEAVEN. The job Altieri Construction did left me speechless! It was amazing and exactly what I asked for! Mr. Altieri prior to the start of my job explained in detail the steps/process involved, I must admit I can not recall these details but that is why he is the expert, the skilled & knowledgeable tradesman and I am not. I am the customer, the more than satisfied customer who can honestly say, Every cent I spent was worth it and that is a gratifying feeling! Frank Altieri, the owner of Altieri Construction was honest, he did exactly what he said he would which was exactly what I asked. They were trustworthy, clean and considerate. The areas of my house they were not working on were left just the same as the day before they arrived. Anyone searching for a carpenter/handyman? I strongly recommend: Frank Altieri, owner of Altieri Construction of Trumbull, CT Phone: 203-449-4581 Email:
