He makes learning jazz piano and music theory really easeful, tailors his lessons to what you’re interested in (instead of a rote set of exercises) and managed to always find me exactly what I was interested in doing even if it was esoteric, and was really encouraging and positive. My goal was to get a thorough grounding in music theory and learn how to arrange piano for my own songs, and I was amazed how easily it came with his instruction after years of wandering through pop piano on my own. I’ve referred several musician friends his way. Could not recommend more."See more

Every lesson begins with vocal warmups, and then they spend the rest of the time singing while JJ accompanies her on the piano. He sings alongside her, demonstrating techniques, helping her safely expand her range, strengthen her voice, and build confidence. What stands out just as much as his talent is his professionalism. JJ is always on time, communicates exceptionally well, and brings such a classy, encouraging presence to every lesson. He has a wonderful way of challenging his students while making them feel supported and capable.
