We LOVED Spencer and Sequoias' performance! They were absolutely splendid, and were able to captivate every single one of our guests. Not only are they amazingly talented mucisians and artists, but they were fantastic to work with. We were able to work with them on the set list so we could have songs important to us, while still matching their style. (But who are we kidding, they'd knock anything and everything out of the park.) Every one of our guests came up during and after their performance and demanded to know who they were, how we got them, and how they could get them for themselves. Having them took our wedding up 10 extra levels! We love them dearly, and anyone who is fortunate enough to work with them should definitely appreciate and value the gems that they are!

Barb's Continuo Home Music Lessons provided home lessons to my son. Not only was the instructor very talented, but they knew exactly how to interact with a young person to keep his interest throughout the lesson and encouraged practicing beyond the lesson. Barb is always prompt and goes out of her way to accomodate scheduling issues.

Allison C.

I had a wonderful experience with Continuo Music. Barbara was communicative and helped me pick the perfect music for my wedding ceremony. The musicians were excellent and were on time! My guests were extremely impressed with the music and we couldn't have been happier.

Tommy has been an amazing guitar, bass, and audio engineering teacher. Recently, we've been working together on some college auditions involving jazz bass, which I knew little of in terms of techniques and terminology. With Tommy's help, I've learned what would have taken me forever, and I feel a lot better about the audition process.

Tom is an accomplished, and very pleasant musician with lots of ability and knowledge. He is able to simplify concepts so that I am beginning to know a set of chords so that I can play a song on my ukelele, which is my goal. Perfect!!

He has become my daughter's music coach/teacher. He is great! He is really helping her invest her heart back into her music. It warms our heart! Thanks Tommy!❤

So far I am loving my classes with Laura. She is very professional, and I'm already seeing an amazing improvement. She's teaching me how to play the violin, and I already started reading music. She's very patient, and is very detailed in her explanations. I'm a 31 year old student, and I'm having a ton of fun learning my first instrument. As soon as my kids are old enough Laura is gonna be their piano, or violin teacher.

Kathleen D.

Verified review

Laura is a wonderful musician and is extremely positive. She teaches my daughter the piano and my son the violin. She also comes to the house, which is very convenient. Laura has high standards but listens to the kids to make the music they learn relevant to them and fun to play.

Christie T.

Verified review

Laura is my daughter's first piano teacher and she is thoroughly enjoying her lessons. Laura is patient and kind, and takes her time teaching as well as making the lessons fun. I highly recommend Laura as a talented and skilled piano teacher.

Alex has taught my son and me for roughly five years now. We were both beginners when we started, and Alex used his own version of the Suzuki method that combined traditional Suzuki (learning to play mostly by ear), sight-reading, and Alex's careful selection of ensemble songs. He is wonderful with kids and adults alike: patient, warm, and creative. I have been particularly impressed by his ability to engage the young (and sometimes the old) when they feel stuck. He is a skilled musician and a great teacher: highly professional, conscientious, and genuinely in love with both music and teaching music. I can't imagine a better instructor.

Marcia S.

My son is a high school senior and has studied guitar with Alex since kindergarten! That's surely a long time and there have been plenty of opportunities to change teachers, but my son has developed a connection with Alex who is always encouraging, always challenging my son to do more, always finding new exciting pieces to learn, and any time my son has wanted to learn a certain song or style, Alex knew it, excelled in it and helped my son do the same. Their duets and improvizations are awesome!

Alex has taught my son classical guitar for the past 7 years. With Alex's expert instruction, his remarkable ability to maintain and channel enthusiasm, and his gentle prodding, my son has gone from the very basics to advanced concert repertoire, and has had a great time doing so. Bravo, Alex!

Matt has knowledge of, and an appreciation for ALL types of music. Of course this is difficult because he attended Stony Brook in the 60's and was exposed to the very best of Rock music. But he transcended that period, kept his high regards for Dylan and Jimi, and continued to grow as a musician and person. I've seem him at several jobs, and he reads the audience very well and makes the event a happy occasion for all.

Sherstudios is a one stop shop for either the budding musician to the gigging professional. It is owned and operated by Jamie Sherwood who is the consummate professional in both music instruction and production/recording. I have been taking lessons (guitar/bass) with Jamie since high school and I can attest that he is the real deal and gives his all to every student and client at any skill level, beginner to professional. Be it jazz, classical finger style, rock, blues, etc... Mr. Sherwood is a classically trained multi-instrumentalist that will help you to transcend into the musical plane and have you sounding like a pro in no time (as long as you put in the effort too)!!! If you're looking to embark on a musical journey there is no better place to start than Sherstudios. A comfortable, safe, and pleasant environment where your musical aspirations can begin to take flight. You couldn't ask for a better mentor, trust me!!!

My daughterhas been taking lessons with Johnathan for 6/7 months now. We came from out if state where she had been with another instructor for about a year and a half. We are so glad that we found Jonathan! My daughter is 6, and she really loves music so we did not want the old strict standard teacher who might end up making her hate the piano. Jonathan is amazing with kids and also an extremely talented pianist. He is so patient and calm, and brings a natural enjoyment to the lessons. He plays duets with my daughter during lesson (even with my other kid jumping around!) which I feel brings an important depth to my daughter's understanding of music. I really feel that with Jonathan as our teacher, my daughter will continue to love and enjoy music.

I was a bit nervous starting piano lessons in my 70s but Jonathan has given me such encouragement and praise that I am eager to take on increasingly challenging pieces. He is very attentive both to my strengths and to things I need to work on. Lessons are stimulating and very rewarding. I have seen him perform in groups and solo piano - he is superb!

I had always wanted to learn how to play guitar ever since I could remember. I was a late starter- 23- before I finally decided to really give it an honest try. Andy convinced me at the very beginning that it's never too late to start and his students were of all ages- children to adult, so I had nothing to worry about. His continuous encouragement was one of the reasons I stuck through the harder beginning lessons when I was struggling. He was extremely patient and would make sure to keep the classes entertaining and upbeat, so that even learning the basics was fun. It's easy to get the "beginner's blues" and quit early if you don't catch on right away, but he pushed me through it until I got the hang of it- and had me laughing the whole way. As I began to improve and could start to experiment more, Andy was great about changing the curriculum to meet my wants and needs. He always made sure to make me practice the basics of course, but we made sure to balance it with songs and music that I personally loved and wanted to play. I would choose the 'extra' books to bring in and often even brought in sheet music of popular songs. If the song was too complicated for my musical level, he would find a way to make it work and break it down for me to learn. Overall, Andy was the best music teacher I've ever had and I've played a variety of instruments over the years. His positive attitude and genuine love of music makes the experience that much better. I would highly recommend him for anyone in any range because he's very good at what he does. If you want to learn how to play guitar, he'll make it happen.

My teenage son has been Andrew's guitar student for many years now. Andrew is an outstanding teacher, mentor, and professional musician. He is deeply knowlegable in all aspects of music and musical theory as well as skilled in playing several musical instruments. Andrew is a patient, caring, teacher who nurtures musical talent in a format that is very individualized for each student. He also encourages and facilitates parent involvement in the student's musical training if parents wish to be an active participant in the lessons. Andrew also has extensive experience teaching music to students with special needs. My son, who is autistic, blossomed musically under Andrew's mentorship. The musical training not only uncovered a particular gift for music and listening, but also opened up my son's social and intellectual world, and gave him a constructive focus in music. I give my highest recommendation for Andrew as a teacher. Thank you Andrew for all the skills, knowledge, and inspiration you have given my son.

Andrew Dapkin has been my guitar teacher and music mentor for over a year now and i wouldn't have it any other way. When Andrew first started teaching me could barely play, had little sense of tempo, and was rusty on reading formal sheet music, but I have overcome those hurdles since then. Andrew is patient, kind, but also holds the student accountable. If you practice according to your lesson plans and don't give up, you'll feel better about playing.

Brian has taught both my sons to play guitar. Brian's teaching style is very engaging! Brian teaches using songs and music that is customized to his students thereby motivating the students even more. In addition to Brian's excellent teaching skills, Brian is very professional and prompt. I would never hesitate to refer him to others who have an interest in learning to play an instrument. He is also an excellent musician in his own right. We have gone to a variety of venues to hear Brian play both solo and accompanied. Brian is a treasure in the world of music!

I have held Ed as a dear friend for over 40 years and know his charcter of loyalty, integrity and absolute strong moral principles which have strengthened our frienship. As a musician he envelops your senses with emotions having the ability to feed your soul in harmonious delight, no matter what the genre. As an Artist I am in awe of him. It was an immensely great pleasure to commission Ed Salazar to place on canvas what I had envisioned. He is a repository of Knowledge and skill that is transcendent. The uncanny gift in his strokes cause magnificence to unfold. Ed Salazar accurately captured my every thought and feelings, Surpassing all my expectations, beyond my wildest dreams. I anxiously look forward to our next Project.

Ed Salazar painted two beautiful paintings for me. One was a landscape, and the other was from a photo of two playful puppies. The landscape was a lovely interpretation of the scene, and the puppy portrait was an exact duplicate of the picture I provided. It captured the playfulness of the puppies perfectly. We love these works of art in our home! In addition, Mr. Salazar is very pleasant and professional.

I worked with Lonnie for ten years, from when i began my studies in jazz piano at age 11 until I went to college at Berklee School of Music in Boston. We worked in all the different aspects of music, from jazz improvisation and interpretation, to how to play with ensembles, as well as orchestrating and arranging. I always admired Lonnie's willingness to work with me on what i wanted to work on. As a young musician my creativity was pretty boundless and it was hard to get me to learn music in a conventional way. Lonnie showed me how important it was to listen to music in order to learn. I received the right amount of motivation and guidance from my lessons with Lonnie to propel me into a life of musical work, as i currently make a living as a freelance composer in Los Angeles. I owe a lot to my teachings as a young musician and I heartily recommend Lonnie's services as a music instructor. I can be reached at 310 729 3866 or at

From the pre-ceremony to the last song of the evening, you guys were fantastic. We received nothing but positive feedback from our guests as well. We all felt like you guys were really enjoying yourselves. I want to especially thank you guys for the time you took to work with me on the song WE did for Laura. It was a moment we will cherish for a lifetime. I am glad we met that afternoon while seeing you perform at the Beach, We look forward to seeing you guys again! Thanks -Matt & Laura

What an amazing band!! As a guest who enjoyed your music at a recent wedding, I am moved to write and share with you my thoughts on The A-List Band. I was blown away by your professionalism, your musical style and your ability to get everyone, both young and old alike, up and dancing! With the exception of dinner and cake, nobody wanted to sit and chat. We just wanted to continue dancing! In my opinion, THAT makes for a great band. In the end, all the guests agreed, we know whom to call when we need music. Call John with The A-List Band! Louisette

Matt & Jen are an adorable professional couple with remarkable talent. I hired them for my mother’s 80th birthday party. Those who attended ranged in age from teens to 80 somethings. I gave them mom’s favorite songs and asked them to mix it up as well. They were absolutely wonderful! The teens to the 80 somethings were all singing along and dancing together. Matt and Jen’s repertoire appealed to all. I couldn’t have selected better entertainment. They made my mom’s birthday celebration a special occasion she will never forget. Our guests didn’t want to leave and didn’t want the party to end! As far as talent goes, Matt is a fantastic musician and Jen’s voice is simply amazing. They both went the extra mile to make sure fun was had by all and paid special attention to my mom as well. You will not be disappointed with them – you will be delighted!

Jason Martin is a thoughtful dedicated musician who has a great teaching style. He is always prepared, professional and patient. His drive to better himself while pushing others is what is truly special about Mr.Martin. He has been playing for over 20 years and it shows. He is comfortable teaching Metallica as well as Scruggs. He has an amazing selection of instruments so you can try different tunings or stringed instruments. He has you work on pieces of your interest right away, which keeps you engaged. I do not think you could find a better teacher anywhere.

We are classical and klezmer musicians who are superb in every way. We are made up of conservatory-trained symphony musicians, professors of colleges, and full-time folk artists, who specialize in performing music in the concert hall, and equally enjoyable at celebrations. We are strolling table to table or stationary. Small to large ensemble, our customers enjoy our interaction with guests, via dancing and (for kids) our games. We enjoy what we do. Yes, it's "work" to do it right, but we do love this work.

I am looking for a pianist to play before our wedding ceremony for approximately 20 mins, as well as during our processional and recessional. Pop/rock repertoire is key as we would love some unconventional options for the recessional (i.e. an arrangement of Journey's "Don't Stop Believin'" would be pretty amazing).
