I took piano lessons from Gary for years and his program is fantastic. I learned to play the piano through songs that I loved, which made me want to continue with lessons as a kid. I am in college now and I still play the piano. Also, his rockonamerica program was a wonderful experience. I got to play rock music in a band with other kids my age. It was way cooler than any piano recital. I would definitely recommend taking music lessons with Gary; his lessons were a lot of fun and years later I still retain what I learned.

Barbara is an excellent music instructor. I have had 3 sessions so far and feel like I have learned so much from her. I can't wait to see how much more I will improve in the next 3 sessions. I'm glad I signed up for singing lessons at the Alexander Music Studio!

Barb's Continuo Home Music Lessons provided home lessons to my son. Not only was the instructor very talented, but they knew exactly how to interact with a young person to keep his interest throughout the lesson and encouraged practicing beyond the lesson. Barb is always prompt and goes out of her way to accomodate scheduling issues.

We switched to Laura in May for piano lessons after 3 years with another teacher. We are very happy with her teaching approach. She makes it fun for my 2 daughters (10 & 8) and yet they are learning a lot. I noticed that my girls practice more during the week and looks forward to their weekly lesson with Laura. She comes to our house too which is very convenient.

Put simply, you will learn everything you want/need to learn about piano with Dan Fogel. Dan is the one of the most knowledgable, compassionate, dedicated educators I've ever met, and I find myself impressed over and over again with how he and his students continue to grow and evolve. Dan is truly at the cutting edge of music education and really knows how to deal with each student as an individual in order to help them reach and exceed their goals - at any level. You are in the best of hands studying with Dan Fogel.

About 5 months ago my 7 year old daughter asked me if she could take piano lessons. No one in our family plays to teach her, so i took to the internet to find a local teacher. I came across Sara and contacted her - it was a random blind pick on my end, but she got back to me and seemed really happy to meet my daughter and see if it would be a good fit. We went for a "trial run" lesson to meet and my daughter instantly was not only very comfortable at her home studio, but LOVED Sara. She was instantly ready to take lessons! fast forward 5 months, Sara's holiday recital was a blast, my daughter played in front of a LOT of people, she can play 3 songs now, her music teacher in school has her play in front of her whole class (which has boosted her self esteem enormously) and she LOVES LOVES LOVES playing, and learning new songs with Sara. Sara is a REALLY good teacher - i cant believe what she has taught my daughter in such a short time. She has a great personality, real friendly, funny, smart, and amazing with kids. I got real lucky finding her randomly... but i wanted to write this review so anyone else who may be like me who is looking for someone to teach piano, can be assured that Sara is the real deal.

Maria is the most thorough, pleasant, and knowledgeable private music teacher I've ever taken lessons from. I leave each piano lesson with a more comprehensive understanding of notes, of rhythms, of musicality, but most importantly, of myself.

I began taking piano lessons at 70 yrs of age and Barbara has been very patient and helpful in my learning process. I'm delighted to be able to read and play comfortably and continue to learn new things in spite of previous instrumental experience.

I was a bit nervous starting piano lessons in my 70s but Jonathan has given me such encouragement and praise that I am eager to take on increasingly challenging pieces. He is very attentive both to my strengths and to things I need to work on. Lessons are stimulating and very rewarding. I have seen him perform in groups and solo piano - he is superb!

I've been playing guitar for fifty years or so, but I always wanted to learn how to read music better, and play piano, like my father used to do. When I inherited my father's piano, I decided to take lessons with Roxanne Lee's Piano Studio. It's been rewarding and fun. As an adult/beginner piano student, Roxanne's lessons are helping me explore the piano keyboard in an enjoyable, easy-going, low-pressure way, using familiar songs and melodies to gain the skills needed to get a good grasp of this wonderful instrument. I heartily recommend Roxanne as a piano teacher, regardless of your age.

Guitar Hangar is a full-service music store, with a wide selection of instruments from beginner to high-end instruments at competitive prices. More importantly, they focus on service after the sale -- including repairs, maintenance, accessories and perhaps most importantly for new and intermediate musicians, lessons. Rick has been my go-to guy for more than 10 years, and I give him and Guitar Hangar my highest recommendation.

Mrs. Spruill is by far one of the most educated, intelligent and greatest music teacher I have ever had. She taught me so much, and really increased my intelligence with reading music. If it wasn't for her I wouldn't have been on the level I am now in college with their tough curriculum. She is very loving and caring and will push you too do your best and you will leave lessons knowing so much more than you did walking in.

Helene was my piano teacher from kindergarten through high school. She taught me how to read, understand, play and love music. Furthermore, my early -and in-depth- start with piano prepared me for years of trumpet in various advanced bands. Although I am not currently taking lessons, I still sit down to play piano whenever I get the chance. I'll play anything from Bach to Beethoven to Josh Groban to new and classic Disney - really anything I'm in the mood for. Helene's teaching has made me proficient enough in piano and music in general such that I can truly enjoy playing. Thanks Helene!!

About

I am a certified New York State music teacher with twenty-nine years of experience. I hold a Bachelors degree in Music Education from the Indiana University School of Music as well as a Masters Degree in Music Education from the University of North Texas. Warm and engaging are words people use to describe my teaching style. I teach piano, clarinet and saxophone using motivational techniques which help to develop strong playing skills, musicianship, sight-reading skills, as well as knowledge of music theory and improvisation. Lessons are never dull but fun and exciting, taught with humor and personality, leading to joy and fulfillment through musical expression. I am very eclectic and open to all styles of music; not afraid to motivate and engage students through music that interests them. The use of colorful graphic images, as well as audio and video recordings of professional musicians help lead to understanding of the many musical concepts students must learn on their way to learning to play a musical instrument at a high level. Instruction also supports preparation for the NYSSMA Solo Festival where needed.
