Alex offered me the best of both worlds: he installed two shower heads for me, one fixed and one removable that was lower down the wall so that it could reach further when I needed it for dog washing or shower cleaning. That kind of careful consideration is hard to come by, in my experience. Alex and Mo also made excellent toilet and lighting/fan recommendations that were of high quality and fit my budget. Built Different also wouldn’t quit until the job was done with precision, taking the time to correct previous builders’ mistakes and rushed work, and ensuring that the finished product met their promise for quality. For example, while Alex was bringing materials for the bathroom in and out of the house, he noticed that the railing to my front stairs was poorly placed. The screen door would hit the railing when it was opened almost completely, so Alex offered to shift the railing using leftover materials from other jobs even though he was only contracted to work on the bathroom. In addition, Alex undid other “landlord special” atrocities, such as replacing outlet and light switch covers that had carelessly been painted over by other contractors. This kind of care confirmed to me that I wasn’t just another customer in a long list of customers for Built Different. I was their priority. That feeling encouraged me to hire Built Different again to remodel my fireplace, and I plan to hire them again when I’m ready to redo my kitchen and the rest of the hardware in my bathrooms.
