Patrick Anderson says, "Great experience with First Class Chimney Services! Everything from quote to getting the work done was handled professionally and with care. On the exterior, I had damaged bricks and mortar replaced/repaired and waterproofing applied. They then removed the original clay liner and replaced it with a stainless steel flue and insulation around it. They tuckpointed the firebox, applied sealer from the firebox to start of the new flue and painted the firebox black. Finally, they installed a new spring loaded damper at the top of the stack that is easy to open and close from the firebox. The crew worked quickly but with care and at no point did I feel worried about what was going on. They were very consistent about putting on fabric slippers over their shoes when entering the house and removing them when exiting.Now I feel confident and safe using my over 50 years old fireplace! I highly recommend this company for your chimney related needs."See more

The gas fireplace in my house was at least 15 years old and wuld not stay lit. I bought the house a few years ago and doubt that it had ever received maintenance. The pro who serviced our fireplace was responsive and very nice. However, the main office did not communicate to him the information I provided in advance regarding the type of fireplace (gas) and make/model. So when he arrived, he was surprised and confused that we had a gas fireplace and he did not have all the necessary tools with him to check for gas leaks/safety. He conducted a basic inspection regardless of this, and said that he didn’t smell any gas so we should be fine. It did not give me the most confidence in our fireplace safety. However, he did take time to remind us how to safely light the pilot etc. Next year I will go back to our old company, even though they are significantly more expensive, because they look up our gas fireplace model in advance and they make sure to have all the right equipment with them for annual inspection/maintenance.

I hired MDM to do some maintenance and repair work on my chimney and fire chamber. For the exterior, they replaced the flashing, repaired the crown and loose mortar. For the fire chamber, they cleaned and parged. It’s a little difficult for me to write about the quality of their work because I don’t really know much about maintaining fireplaces and chimneys. But the photos of the completed work looked good. They showed up when they said they would, which, in my experience is huge. When dealing with contractors. They worked all day, they cleaned up the mess and then they came back the next day and finished the job and cleaned up their mess again. They were very friendly and professional and my dogs loved them. All in all, I was very satisfied and unless something alarming happens when I light my first fire of the season, I would definitely recommend them, and hire them again.
