John was very responsive, I really appreciated him walking me through the process and explaining everything to me. He is very professional and knowledgeable. He was able to offer me services right away. The process did not take long and he was very nice, along with his partner. The price was reasonable and overall, it was worth selecting his company. I have seen a bug since his departure and am elated about that. Awaiting his call for follow up but otherwise I would recommend him to others, as I have been pleased so far with everything.

Steve was the best! He responded to my online request quickly, his price was reasonable, he was here on time (early actually!) and he eliminated a nasty infestation of yellow jackets inside and outside my home. He even moved about a dozen heavy boxes in my attic crawl space to try to get to the nest. He told me if the bees weren't gone in 3 days to call him and he would come back to spray again, at no additional charge! Absolutely use Amenta if you have a bug problem!

I contacted Harpoon Pest solutions base off of their reviews and the free inspection. My technician was Quincy J. Mr. Quincy came out and inspected my home for bed bugs. It was discovered that I did have bed bugs in my home. This has been a stressful experience for my family but Quincy has made it a lot easier to bear. His customer service is outstanding he has always been available for all my questions and concerns. I just received my first treatment and the day after I had some concerns, Quincy immediately came back out to my home to inspect. So far I am extremely impressed with my pest control services. If you want empathy, knowledge and great customer service chose Harpoon pest solutions.

I had Akita out to my house twice to treat for fleas. Both technicians were very professional and attentive to my details about where I thought the infestation might be. I chose to have them come back the second time; one - because I was still seeing flea dirt on my cats, and two - because I wanted their 30 day guarantee. The second treatment was yesterday, so I cannot completely comment on effectiveness, but I do feel that they did a good job on the treatment.

Joe is the best. I wanted to move out of my apartment immediately upon moving in. One call to Joe and no more roaches. I even had a brief bed bug scare. It was brief thanks to Joe.

My husband found a bug that looked like a flying termite online. I contacted Green Pestate yesterday and they were out today. The bug was not a termite, but we are considering using Green for a preventative treatment before selling our house this year.

I would highly recommend for expediency and competency. Steve explained the nature of an ant infestation, and how to urge them to move along and take treats back to the family. I will be using this service again.

If you are looking for a true bed bug expert, I highly recommended This company. The heat specialist taught us more about bed bugs in one day then what I learned from weeks of searching about them on the Internet.  Very patient, he was able to walk us through his evaluation, give us examples and make recommendations that we could do on our end to avoid exposure and transportation of bed bugs from one house to the other. He really took his time explaining and was able to answer all the questions we had before we had a chance to ask him.  Very thorough, professional and knowledgeable. And the treatment worked FANTASTIC. Bed bug free at last. OMG WHAT A NITEMARE!!! East Coast Heat Guys you are the best of the best!!!

I have never been able to enjoy my backyard until Final Bite came to my house. My backyard is woodsy and whimsical but I was never able to go outside with out bug spray and long pants. I've tried everything I could and have called a few companies but Final Bite is by far the best company I have had the pleasure to work with. They were very professional and patient with all of my questions. They thorughly assessed my back yard and explained the causes of my critter issues and what they will be doing to rid my yard of the terrible bugs. I couldn't be happier with the job they have done! Now me and my fur-babies can finally enjoy the back yard.

John is amazing. He was really determined in getting rid of bedbugs from my house and he did. I finally had a good sleep because of him. He treated as if its his own house. He made sure he treated each and every corner of the mattress, box spring and carpet. He initially told two treatments but after I found one more bug, I texted him and he came over to do additional treatment for free. He knew all the chemicals he used and explained me the benefits of each. He even treated the electrical outlets. If you want to eliminate bedbugs from your house, this is the guy you have to go to.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What do pest control companies do?

Pest control companies handle all aspects of bug, rodent and animal extermination or removal. Pest control professionals visit your home or office to identify the type of pest that is troubling you and offer various treatment plans — complete with clearly outlined costs. Once you and the pest control company have a signed agreement, the pro will begin treatment. Pest treatment can range from the use of spray pesticides and gel bait to live and/or kill traps. There are a wide range of types of pesticides, many of them nontoxic for humans and other small animals. This means you may be able to have your home treated for pests without harming nearby wildlife or your dog and cat. The pest control pro will carry out the treatment plan and, depending on the service agreement, provide follow-up such as emptying traps, inspecting access points, or reapplying pesticide spray if the pests return. Costs will vary based on the type of pest you are having removed and the extent of the infestation. The average national pest control price range is $80-$130. From a minor bedbug event to an entire home termite infestation, pest control companies have got you covered.

How much does it cost to treat a house for termites?

Termites are not only creepy-crawly, they can literally eat your house out from underneath you. Termites feed on damp and dry wood and can chomp through your house at an alarming rate. The national average pest control cost for termite extermination is $240-$400. Treatment costs can be higher for an extensive infestation. Here are some examples of average pest control costs for termites:

  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: $3-$4 per linear foot.
    • For $75 per year, a company may offer a maintenance plan that provides inspection of the property and renewal of the warranty.
  • Liquid treatment of subterranean termites: approximately $400 for a 2,000-square-foot home at $3-$5 per linear foot.
    • The price is higher for additional work such as foaming and drilling inside of concrete slabs.
  • Fumigation treatment of drywood termites: $1,200-$1,500 for a 30,000- to 35,000-cubic-foot home
    • Fumigation is measured in cubic feet because it fills the airspace of the home and infiltrates the wood that the termites may be colonizing. The cost of fumigation is affected by the number of levels in the home as well as the square footage.

How much does it cost to get rid of cockroaches?

Cockroaches are not only ugly, they are difficult to get rid of. Quick and resilient, they can be hard to get rid of without professional help once they have inhabited a house. Nationally, the average range for cockroach pest control cost is $80-$130. Extermination professionals typically provide a free estimate to determine the extent of the infestation. They’ll check for the main sources of the bugs, identify bug access and entry points into your home, and determine the best method for elimination. There are a variety of cockroach extermination tools including gel baits and traps, pesticide foggers, desiccants (which dry out the cockroaches), neurotoxins, and other pesticides. Pest control costs can also cover preventive measures like regular spraying and trap maintenance. Some regions of the country are much more prone to cockroach problems than others, so pest control costs may need to be part of your quarterly budget. Cockroaches love dark, humid, and warm areas and water sources, so place traps near your washer and dryer and under your sinks.

How much does it cost to remove a mouse?

If you have a mouse in your house you’re probably quickly researching pest control costs. Mice, although tiny, can transmit diseases and also get into your food and leave unsanitary droppings around your home. If you have seen one mouse in your house, it’s likely that more have taken up residence in your crawl space, attic or basement. The national average pest control cost is $150-$200. Costs can vary depending on whether you need to get rid of a population of living mice or just dispose of a dead mouse (or full traps), how extensive the mouse population is, and where you live in the country. Here are some examples of average pest control cost for removing a mouse:

  • $150 for initial trap setup and inspection (and sealing of entry holes).
    • $50 for rodent removal service calls and emptying of traps. This visit can also include identifying and sealing entry points that were not sealed on the first visit.
  • Rodent extermination: $110-$350, depending on how heavy the rodent population is, whether the mouse infestation poses health risks, how many entrances exist and how many rodent bait stations are needed.

How much does it cost to get a pest inspection?

In general there is no cost for a pest inspection. Exterminators typically provide a free property or building inspection and then provide you with a written estimate outlining the necessary treatment and cost. The home visit allows the exterminator to assess the problem and let you know what your pest control cost will be if you contract with their services. You may need a termite inspection for real estate purposes. This will be a verified inspection showing that the house in question is termite-free (often done before a sale). The inspection may cost a flat rate, such as $125-$150, depending on house size.

It’s hard to predict pest control costs sight unseen due to the variety of factors that go into pest treatment. For example, a bedbug problem for one customer may be confined to one room and be easy to access and treat in one visit if the room is clear of clutter and the bedbugs have been caught early. In another home, a bedbug problem may also be confined to one room, but there’s a great deal of clutter, providing more hiding places for the bugs and requiring more spray and labor for the exterminator, as well as many pieces of large furniture in the room that need to sprayed. Depending on the maturity of the infestation, a bedbug problem may require multiple visits to entirely eliminate. This is why many companies provide a free inspection to determine pest control costs and provide you the most accurate quote possible.
