Susan was fantastic!!! After finishing grad school at the age of 30, I felt like an entirely different person. Everything in my life was different...job, friends, money, location....but my wardrobe still screamed broke, young, college student. I realized that my wardrobe definitely needed to be refreshed but Susan brought me more of a revolution. I was hesitant to reach out to a stylist since I associated them with trendy girls and the Hollywood bunch. But as a guy who hates shopping, I also realized that I don't have a sense of style and I'm tired of spending money on clothes that I dislike a year later. So I reached out to Susan after viewing her website and she was very welcoming and accommodating. She came to my place (an hour drive) and basically cleared out my closet, which was shocking at the time but completely needed in hindsight! We talked about what kind of style I wanted, how much money I was looking to spend and set up some days to shop. Later, we met at the mall and she had everything picked out! I had more successful shopping in an hour with her than I had in years of doing it by myself. Jeans, suits, shirts, jackets, shoes, accessories...she covered it all. It felt so easy and I was surprised to walk out with so many clothes that I otherwise wouldn't have looked at. That was probably the best part of my experience with Susan...she picked out a style for me that I really loved but wouldn't have looked at or bought on my own. As a guy, I needed some help from a professional to guide me and teach me some things about clothing. Susan was paying attention to details that I never thought about and her standard for a quality outfit was way higher than mine ever was. Susan was very flexible in terms of scheduling and her prices were very reasonable. I would definitely recommend her as a stylist to anyone who needs some new clothing.

I gave my sister a closet edit (One hour) and personal shopping (two hours) experience with Katelyn as a birthday gift and she said it was one of the best gifts she ever got. Katelyn was professional and fun and really listened to what my sister wanted and needed to purchase to add to her wardrobe. The entire experience was professional and fun and I'd definitely highly recommend Katelyn if yourself or someone you know is in need of a stylist. Katelyn was extremely organized and the entire experience was a lot of fun!

These two run a very creative and professional styling company. While providing me with a new personal wardrobe, they delivered many fashionable options and payed close attention to the details. I've worked with them several times and have always been more than pleased with the results.

I hired Ashley to style me for my wedding occasions (Bridal shower and Engagement photo shoot). After scouring the racks on my own, I realized I needed to enlist the help of a professional! I was skeptical that she would be able to find something that I couldn’t as I think I am good at styling myself for day to day. Boy was I wrong! I loved working with Ashley and can’t imagine going to these events not styled by her! She shopped ahead of time for me so shopping was stress free! I went right to the dressing room where everything was laid out! I know this is part of her normal personal shopping package, but he experience made me feel so special! I couldn’t believe what she had picked! It was like she was in my head and knew my style to a T! I couldn’t believe she could pick things that were so ‘me’ after just a quick hour consultation. At the end of the shopping day I was left with having to choose what I wanted to buy because I liked so many of the options! I will definitely be hiring Ashley again for my next event!

We have been trying to sell our house for a very long time. When after several months we received no offers my wife decided to call in the help of a stager. I have to admit when I first heard this I really thought it would be a waste of money. Boy was I wrong! Ellen came to our house & walked us through everything. She & her wonderful team then made all the necessary design changes. She was so creative, patient & really solved all of our problems. She completed the work less than two weeks ago and our realtor has informed us that there is an offer coming in. We can't thank you enough Ellen. You & your team are truly amazing...best money I ever spent! I recommend you to anyone that will listen!

Jessica is an incredibly friendly and easy-going person who knows what she's talking about! She did a great job helping me go through my wardrobe and decide what to keep and what might not fit me quite right. She gave great tips for things to keep in mind when I'm shopping in the future and was really fun to work with! I would have loved to do the whole service of Sort, Shop, and Style, but didn't feel like I was able to financially. However, Jessica was very flexible with letting me pick and choose which services I wanted to use. I had a great experience! Thanks for your wonderful help, Jessica!

Steve from WIAG was able to combine a very professional attitude with an ease and honesty necessary when tediously sorting through my personal catalogue of clothing. He showed up on time, made me feel comfortable, welcome, and at ease while we steadily discussed the details of each piece of clothing. I'm excited to continue to use these results to make more informed choices when purchasing my clothes, while also utilizing the "help me pack" feature. This service has helped me save money while filling in my closet with smart choices to help me dress for success. I can't recommend this service, this company, and this individual enough.

Arielle is amazing and talented! Not only does she design and make fabulous clothing, she has an eye for what shapes/patterns/colors will make you look your best! I am a singer/songwriter for the band Hotsy Totsy, and Arielle has truly reinvented our "look". She has outfitted us with multiple dresses that flatter each of our individual body types, and have color palates that we can mix and match. This gives us the freedom to dress to our personal tastes and yet still have a very "put together" cohesive look. Arielle is also exceptional in her talent to design for specific events. My band recently performed for the Pinup Peepshow at Union Transfer in Philadelphia, and at the Tropicana in Atlantic City. Arielle met with us and discussed our needs, drew sketches, and created some absolutely gorgeous dresses for us! We got so many compliments on them!! Thank you!! I recommend Arielle and her Earl Salko clothing to everyone!!!

      About

I provide interior decorating services that are unique in design, not trendy or costly. I like to think outside the box in terms of design. In meeting with the client, I assess their needs, hopes, and plans for any given room. This begins the process of the meeting of the minds. It is important for me to see what the client has already visualized in their mind, what style it is in keeping with, to create a foundation. Once we are on the same page, the rest is an exciting transformation of space that I truly love to conquer. It puts all my creative juices to test. That is when I am happiest!

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How do I find a personal stylist?

To find a fashion consultant, start by browsing portfolios online. Styling is a visual art, so finding a fashion consultant who fits the style you desire is key. Great personal stylists aren’t confined to one style, but if you’re seeking a hipper, fashion-forward vibe, you’d do well to find someone with a modern portfolio, while a fashion consultant with a consistently refined style could be a better fit if you’d prefer a more conservative look. Reading reviews is also helpful for learning more about the fashion consultant. Research their training, background and years of experience. After reviewing websites and Instagram accounts, meet with the stylist in person to learn how well they fit your personality; some fashion consultants offer a free phone consultation prior to hiring. Before hiring, make sure you clearly understand their terms of service and payment.

      What do image consultants do?

Image consultants help people look and feel their best by coaching them on their clothing and beauty choices. An image consultant can be hired for a one-time occasion, such as an awards ceremony, big birthday party or photo shoot. The consultant will recommend clothing, hair and makeup to suit the occasion either using either what the client owns or taking a targeted shopping trip. For a complete fashion consultation, the image consultant will assess your wardrobe, your lifestyle, and what you hope to present to the world, and will then determine the best colors, styles and cuts for you. You can get help streamlining your professional appearance, adjusting your style after a change in body size, solidifying a new look, or finding clothing to fit one area of your life like work or weekends. Image consultants also provide closet edits, going through your clothing and paring out what isn’t right for the look you’re trying to achieve. Personal shopping is another service that image consultants provide. After an image assessment, they can either shop with you or shop on your behalf to find you key pieces you need.

      What is a fashion consultant?

A fashion consultant is a paid professional who will advise you on what to wear and how to wear it to fit your desired lifestyle or career goals. A fashion consultant can provide many services including personal shopping, closet audits, beauty consultations, style consultations and ongoing seasonal services. A fashion consultant often has a design or fashion background (although this is not required) and an innate sense of style. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut with the colors, cuts and designs we think suit us. A fashion consultant comes in with fresh eyes and provides constructive feedback to guide your style choices.

During your initial meeting, your fashion consultant will take stock of your current clothing selection and learn what you hope to achieve. They’ll identify core wardrobe pieces you need, as well as advise you how to wear items together. Many consultants create style lookbooks for their clients explaining things like exactly which shoes to wear with what pants and how to accessorize each look. Fashion consultants are a great option for people who are updating their style due to age, career changes or body changes, or who are just ready for a new look and feel. Most fashion consultants charge by the hour, with some offering packages and others working from a retainer.

      What is a personal shopper?

Personal shoppers take the pain out of having good fashion. Personal shoppers are paid professionals who work with women, men or children who need style assistance. If you are stuck in a fashion rut, are unsure how to dress in a way that flatters your body, need to revamp your image, or want a more professional career look, personal shoppers can help. Personal shoppers identify the look their client wants to achieve and purchase the necessary clothing and accessories to achieve it. The process often begins with an initial consultation with the client to understand their style goals. This consultation may include a closet “audit,” an assessment of the client’s current wardrobe to see what items can be eliminated and what must be purchased to achieve the desired style.

The client and the personal shopper can shop together, selecting items as a team. The personal shopper may also shop on behalf of the client, then bring all items to the client for a final decision. A third option is pre-shopping, where the personal shopper reaches the store(s) ahead of the client and sets aside clothing for the client to try on, expediting the whole process — a win for anyone who hates spending time in the mall. Personal shoppers can also be hired for one-time events such as weddings, vacations or birthdays. You can also enlist a personal shopper to do your gift shopping for you. Overall, a personal shopper is an investment in making good style choices.
