Professional Piano Movers
David was quick to respond to my request for a quote to move a baby grand here in the Wilmington area. At first, the quote started at $350 (which I thought was reasonable, and wanted to move forward), but quickly ballooned up to $450 when he found out there were a few (straight, very wide, outdoor) stairs leading up to my front door. When my mother called to follow up with him about the move , he jacked the price up to $495 to move the piano 6.5 miles (and was very clearly irritated when we had the audacity to contact him on Memorial Day to schedule the move--there was some definite attitude, which seemed excessive. It's not like we called him on Christmas morning, not to diminish the significance of Memorial Day). I almost got the sense that he really didn't want the job, and to discourage us, he over-bid in an effort to either make a decent chunk of change out of the gig or get out of the job completely. He had success on the latter. After calling a few other piano movers , we found Duffy Piano Movers (who came highly rated by a local piano tuner: [exact quote] "these are the only piano movers I trust) and offered to move the piano for $300. Three super sweet young men moved the piano without any issue, and best of all, the piano was still in tune when it arrived! If you're in the Philly/Wilmington area, go with Duffy. David was okay, and I don't want to throw anyone under the bus, but I was not left with a good impression of his company or his approach to customer service. Overly expensive, and my correspondences were rather abrupt and gruff.
