This was a fabulous way to take the stress out of a celebration. Becky and sous chef, Jill, created a great menu with presentation and flavors that were spot on with our expectations. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for an intimate meal and/or catering. I will utilize her services again in the future. Thank you for everything!

Chef Derek came to our home to do a cooking lesson for my teenage nephew and me. He taught us about nutrition and food sanitation/safety (especially good for young learners), then moved to knife skills, and we finished by making the best Alfredo dish I've ever had! Chef Derek was knowledgeable, professional, and fun! We had a great time while learning a variety of skills and techniques, then had an amazing meal when it was all over. We will be calling him again!

On June 16th I placed my first call to Annabelle's Cookies & More. I have seen her website and was delighted to find out that she prepared cakes. My goal was to deliver a birthday cake to my mom. Not an easy feat since I am in the West Coast. I didn't want to use other services because they had let me down. I was very lucky to reach Annabelle herself and found out she was the owner as well as the artist behind the product. In speaking with her, I learned that she is of Italian heritage and knew then I have found my magic wizard. My mom received her surprise birthday cake directly from Annabelle, whom graciously hand it over to a very surprised mom. She shared her delicious masterpiece with friends & family whom raved about how delicious it was. I scored high points with mom all due to Annabelle's extraordinary baking talent, warm heart and excellent service. Thank you Annabelle!!!!!!! My mom loved it!!!! I am very happy to sign my name to this review. Pilar Ugarte.

Susan is an outstanding teacher who has come to our home for a series of cooking lessons. She is very supportive of her students, knowledgeable in a variety of cooking techniques and methods, and explains patiently even with concepts that might seem basic to an accomplished chef as Susan is. Also really appreciate her creativity in building out menu's for the class which are healthy and taste great. Overall she's done a great job!

When my second child was born I found that finding time to cook was near impossible. It had also been harder to stockpile food in advance. Frozen food and takeout got old really fast. Having fresh high quality food made right in my home was amazing. Maria has prepared meals for me twice and each time they were so delicious. One time Maria arrived to cook and ended up making my lunch also as I hadn't even had a chance to eat that day. When I needed my meals to be totally dairy free Maria went the extra mile to make sure the food featured flavors that were amazing but completely safe for me to eat. The large portions meant leftovers every meal. It was amazing to have all my favorite dishes cooked in my own home by someone that wasn't myself! And I think my kitchen was cleaner when she left than when she arrived. Her services were one of the best post-delivery gifts I was given. They were so good I contracted another round myself. Her friendly unobtrusive demeanor made me completely comfortable as I nursed my baby, napped, and went about my business as she cooked. I highly recommend her and anything she cooks!

I sincerely wish I could give him 10 stars! I started working with Chef Garyn about 6 months prior to my event. I live in Maryland and came to Florida with 12 other people to celebrate my son 5th birthday! I hired Chef Garyn to cook us dinner for his party and as a farewell and thank you to our guest! From the moment I contacted him he was prompt in his replies and so very understanding of my many changes due to the difficulty of planning a party from many states away. He took all stress off of me and came up with the menu which he allowed me to change if I wanted and ensured he stayed in close contact. The day of the party he showed up to our vacation home on time and was by far the nicest person ever and so professional. Literally my entire family loved him!! They are still talking about him and how we all wish we could have taken him home with us! The food was cooked to absolute perfection as well as the dessert! None of us eat carrots on a regular basis but we all went back for seconds, even my nephew who is an extremely picky eater. He shopped, cooked, served, and cleaned up which by far exceeded my expectations! The shopping was major to me because after traveling 15 hours, going grocery shopping was the last thing I wanted to do but he took care of EVERYTHING! All of my family are still talking about him and how we can't wait to return next year to have him again! In 5 hours he became like apart of our family! I HIGHLY recommend him to anyone looking for a delicious meal with a personable, professional, and all around awesome chef!!!!

I regularly go to food truck events, and near my work they cycle through a variety of local food trucks for lunch. Having had most of the popular trucks as well as many of the lesser known ones, I can say with confidence that Louie's Bistro is the best. There are three main factors for my reasoning: 1) Quality. Louie takes pride in his truck. You can food is his passion and he doesn't want anyone to leave without a great meal. 2) Quantity. It's rare that a a service has both great quality and quantity. But the portions I get for the price are way better than any other truck in Orlando. The meals almost always come with sides like fries or rice. Most other trucks charge you extra. This is an incredible value. 3) Creativity. Louie constantly has "specials" outside of his regular menu. These keep me coming back and curious to see what he has next. He's had some of the most incredible duck confit, risotto, sriracha chicken, and you can't miss the filet mignon sandwich if it's there. He can cook any type of cuisine, including French, Cuban, Asian, Caribbean, etc. He knows how to bring the best flavors from these cuisines and integrate them into amazing tasting meals.

A group of 13 including Guss spent the week together at the Noah's Ark Children's Home in Jamaica doing work in both community and at the Children's Home. Upon our return, we all got together for a nice meal at our home that was prepared and served by Guss. The main course was stuffed tenderloin and it was delicious. I will definitely use him again and have already given his name out to several of my friends. He has such a warm personality and would fit perfectly in any environment. He has a true passion for cooking and it shows.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much do private cooking lessons cost?

You can take private cooking classes to have fun, to learn a new skill, to improve your health, to bond with your partner, to enjoy a playful first date or to have a unique birthday party experience. Nationally the average cost of private cooking lessons ranges between $100 and $150. Prices can vary, depending on where you live, the type of cooking class you’re taking, the ingredients the chef provides, and the reputation of the chef. Cooking classes with Anthony Bourdain will clearly cost more than classes with a local restaurant owner. The number of people in the class will also affect the cost, with group lessons often priced per person to account for the cost of ingredients. For example, for group lessons, a brunch workshop may cost an average of $70 per person, a steak dinner with sides could cost an average of $80-$85 per person, and a sushi lesson could cost an average of $100 per person. Ingredients play a major role in cost, as the chef will pre-purchase the food you will be working with. Weekday classes will usually cost less than weekend classes.
