ACL Remodeling LLC
Do NOT hire ACL Remodeling LLC (and/or ACL Realty) for your services, they are completely incapable of demonstrating simple carpentry, remodeling , drywall installation and/or basic construction skills!! Stay AWAY!!!
We hired these guys to do a custom home installation of two wooden closets with new drywall construction in two bedrooms, various electric light replacements (outside perimeter lights) and soffit/fascia repair. The soffit/fascia repair and electric perimeter light replacement (so far) was fine (with the exception that they didn't check the electrical wiring and/or switches inside the house to see if the lights were working; they are sensor-activated), but the installation of the two closets was a complete disaster/nightmare! Not only does this crew not speak a word of English (they are all native Spanish speakers, except for one or two people which are not even licensed to be project managers, and they are even incompetent at that job), they do not seem to know anything about measuring and defining different wood types (for example, you would expect a worker of this caliber to know the difference between MDF and cedar), or how to install closet doors with proper leveling tools. The general drywall install of the walls for the closets, custom done, was sub-contracted to a third party who did NOT measure correctly one of the closets walls according to the city of Daytona Beach CODE! (The inspector will be out to make sure the walls are reset, see pic). Carlos' crew members were also incompetent at finishing the woodwork which we asked for in the closets, specifically the wood framing, wood doors, wood clothing rods, and wood supports and wood shelving. They did NOT install wooden rods or wooden shelving; they used metal rods and metal brackets with the most absurd, tiniest screws (insane!), which are not meant to be used for larger closets up to 5 feet in width! One of the members of our family was almost seriously injured, when, after putting his clothes and boxes in the closet apparently after the work had been finished, the entire (wrong) assemblage collapsed amidst the weight of clothing - only about 50-100 pounds! Closets done to code should be able to withstand weights of force up to 500 lbs., but no, not these ones! They did not install with proper bolts (e.g., lag or butterfly screws/anchors) into our cement walls, and they also DID NOT properly acquire a PERMIT before work started (as with most "handyman" contractors in Daytona Beach, they want the homeowner to pull the permit instead of them; why not just get a contractor's license and follow the city code if you want to work here? How difficult is that?).
If you value your money, your life, and your reputation, DO NOT HIRE CARLOS AND ACL REMODELING , EVER!!
Currently at the time of writing this review, the overall owner/partner who does have a contracting license, Danny, is attempting to obtain the correct permits from the city of Daytona Beach to allow Carlos to finish the job. However, the added frustration of the unnecessary time to correct the project, compounded by what seems are different crew members every day the work goes on invading our busy life for the second, awful time, is a monumental negative reaction that we all have to this company. Make sure to AVOID AT ALL COSTS!!
