- What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?
It's pretty straight forward. $89 per hour for training, service or installation. We charge flat fees to install devices we sell like AppleTV, Nest or DropCam. In order to introduce Hummingbird to new customers, we offer a 2 for 1, $89 for two hours.
- What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?
Absolutely! We go through Apple Certified Training classes at least once a year, take Apple online classes regularly and use YouTube, Lynda.com and other resources to become more proficient in our skills. The most important training we get is with our customers. They tell us what they need or have issues with and we use Google to find the answers if we don't already know them. The key is asking the right question, and deciphering which answer is the best for the application.
- How did you get started doing this type of work?
I've always loved music, movies and gadgets. This has been a passion of mine from 12 years old. I was a customer for technology for most of my adult life until about 12 years ago. I was disappointed that I couldn't get companies I contracted to fulfill the promise they made me when I hired them. I knew that I could do it better. I started a home technology and entertainment business. After 8 years, I saw that the technology was changing and that the old paradigm was shifting. The smart phone and tablet were becoming the center of our universe, and people needed help to take advantage of all they have to offer. That is how iHummingbird started. As a service company that not only trains and supports your devices, but also makes suggestions as to additional products that are powerful and will add value to your life. From AppleTV and Sonos streaming music and video to Nest, Automatic and MyQ Garage to keep track of your home and car. Believe me, there's lots more to come.
