My son started with Dyce as a beginner and now, almost 3 years later, he's really beginning to blossom as an artist. Dyce has a real passion for teaching and a desire to reach people in a way that helps them achieve their individual goals.

I hired Valerie for my granddaughter 2nd. Bday and she was absolutely wonderful. Great to communicate with, professional and super sweet with kids. Our expectations were exceeded and even the adults enjoyed painting their faces. They couldn't believe her skills. She was professional and interacted with the kids great. Everyone was asking about her and what company she was with. The party went off perfectly. Thank you for everything. Valery is a great artist and we would hire her again anytime.

Cintia puts her heart and soul in to her music lessons. She has an incredible vocal talent an artist, as well as inviting the undivided attention of my usual distracted 10 yr. daughter. When Amelie takes a lesson from Cintia the way she sings a song is much more polished and beautiful at the end of the lesson. Cintia Lovo is super professional leads the student through a variety of vocal exercises to train the student's voice and best highlight the student's particular talents. I have already recommended her to several friends. She is awesome!!!

Doctor Gary Dubler was incredible!!!!!!! This artist/ music instructor helped me to propose to my now Fiance on Jupiter Beach. Dr Dubler was very flexable and was able to accommodate us despite short fuse time lines and a unique location. Highly recommended for any type of show or occasion in which live music is needed!

I've been taking lessons with Ramon for 5 years now and can verify that he's a very knowledgeable, serious musician. In my case he's helping me learn flamenco guitar from books. He's been invaluable in monitoring my rhythm, timing, and technique. Thanks to his years at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Madrid, he's very familiar with the flamenco masters. I highly recommend Ramon if you're interested in learning guitar.

Max is a thorough professional. Easily the most diligent, disciplined, studied, talented, and kindest keyboardist in South Florida. I've played countless gigs with Max over the past 7 years. And his performance record is not only impeccable professionally, but outstanding artistically. From classical to blues, piano to organ to rhodes, Max handles them all seamlessly and has an incredible knack for riveting solos. I perform over 180 shows per year and there is no one else I would rather have on keys (and left hand bass!) than Max Farber. Max is always striving to be better at his craft and therefore has a great technical knowledge of the piano as well as music theory. If I were to take piano lessons, I would absolutely go to Max Farber before anyone else.

Cornbread is an amazing local contra dance band that comes with its own caller. Anita does an incredible job teaching newbies how to dance, as well as calling more intricate advanced dances. This band knows how to spice up their music and are our favorite go to band for events in the south Florida area.

Rick is an outstanding professional in every sense of the word. He pays attention to the details of performance and delivers with excellence. Whether singing Neil Diamond, Jimmy Buffet, Harry Chapin or Jim Croce ( just to name a few), his voice is impeccable and original. He doesn't mimic, he accentuates to the best of his natural vocal ability and makes the artist shine in a new light.

SANDRA D’XPERIENCE is rightly dubbed a thrilling “experience”. She is a “must see"; and Dynamic Sensation is absolutely a "must hear”! I love to watch this multi-instrumentally gifted artist and her band! She has performed for us at numerous venues in the last few years, and I must say, she entertains an audience and touches people like no other female musician I’ve seen in decades! She has not only dazzled my own guests, but also enriched so many hearts across the globe with her innovative sound, penetrating rhythms, and harmonic punch! The energy-packed Sandra D continues to receive high praise and rave reviews as she always brings you something new and unexpected. She can transform any event with so much excitement, encouragement and fun. I highly recommend her services for any event. Rene A.

      Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

      What is a mariachi band?

Mariachi bands are rooted in Mexican culture. Traditional mariachi bands consisted of two or more members playing stringed instruments, wearing regional costumes adapted from the charro (Mexican horseman or cowboy). Modern mariachi bands, which are likely what you’re looking for when searching for a mariachi band for hire, feature at least four members who play stringed instruments (violin, vihuela, bass guitar called guitarron) and one or more trumpets. The costumes have remained the same, but now trumpets are synonymous with mariachi music. Mariachi bands for hire often play a wide range of music, including styles originating from Mexico and adopted from elsewhere. These include jarabes, waltzes, serenades, corridos (Mexican ballads), ranchera, cumbia, and more. Mariachi bands for hire bring a festive and soulful element to a party, birthday, wedding, corporate affair, fundraiser or community event. UNESCO has inscribed mariachi music on the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

How many mariachis can a band have?

A mariachi band for hire can have as many players as you like. Modern mariachi bands typically have a minimum of four players with the trumpet playing a vital musical role along with stringed instruments such as the violin, guitarrón (a Mexican bass guitar with a deep body), vihuela (a Spanish stringed guitar) and guitar. Strong vocals are also an important component of mariachi bands for hire, since one or more of the players will be singing during the performance. For a truly spectacular show, you can hire a mariachi band with 15 or more players. The medley of stringed instruments, multiple trumpets, soaring vocals, and even an accordion or harp is powerful and beautiful. Mariachis typically wear the traditional costume of charros — Mexican horsemen. The look is a very regal, monotone suit, often in black or white, with silver adornments and embroidery. Mariachi bands often wear sombreros as well. Traditional mariachi bands were only made up of two or more players, according to a UNESCO report celebrating the cultural heritage of the musical style. The style of music originated in the state of Jalisco. Now the style of music is symbolic of Mexico but is celebrated all over the world, and adds a fabulous vibrancy to any group’s events, parties and weddings.

How much does a mariachi band cost?

A mariachi band will bring your party or event alive with their fabulous costumes, beautiful playing and strong vocals. The cost of a mariachi band for hire will depend on how many players are in the group. Each musician in a performance group needs to be paid, so pricing is usually based on the number of mariachis (musicians), the location of the event (and travel time required), and the length of the performance. Day of the week also affects cost, as does day — Christmas, New Year’s Eve and other major holidays will cost more than regular days. The national average cost for live bands of all types ranges between $740 and $1,200. Depending on where you live and regional rates for performers, you might expect to pay between $65 and $120 per hour, per player. Mariachi groups may have 12-15 players available for performance at one time, depending on your budget. Here are some examples of how the number of players affects average cost:

      • Four mariachis: $300 per hour for weeknights, $400 per hour for weekends.
      • Five mariachis: $350 per hour for weeknights, $400-$450 per hour for weekends. Weekends may have a minimum number of hours.
      • Six mariachis: $400 per hour for weeknights, $450-$500 per hour for weekends.
