I recently moved to the St Petersburg area back in December of 2020 and I moved here with no furniture except for a mattress. I started to buy several large pieces of furniture that would require spending enormous amount of my time to spend assembling the furniture. I purchased a 5-dresser drawer piece along with a writing table and some floor lamps that would need to be manually assembled. Due to my hectic schedule, I kept finding myself not being able to fully commit to putting the dresser together. My clothes were now all stored in various storage bins and this become increasing frustrating for me to rummage through them to just put my clothes on. That is when I decided I could not rely on myself any longer to put any of the furniture together. I searched for local handyman and that is when I came across Thumbtack. I entered my zip code information and the search return retrieved Gabriel Barbosal’s handyman profile. https://www.thumbtack.com/fl/orlando/masonry-contractors/gabriel-barbosa/service/411839138172428297?utm_medium=web&utm_source=txt&surface=sp&referrer_pk=362253318263767041 I submitted my request, and I was connected to Gabriel who reached out to me immediately. I gave him all my information as to what furniture I needed to have assembled and he gave me the applicable time estimate and rate to complete the request and I agree to it. Gabriel lives in the Orlando area so he had to commute from there to St Petersburg which can take an average of 2.5 hours depending on I-4 traffic. He showed up at 11 am along with his father Ray who was there to assist him with assembly the furniture. Both Gabriel and his father are very professional and respectable gentlemen. I got to know them very well and to see a father and son relationship working together reminded me of when I was Gabriel’s’ age and my father and I working on a household project. As you can see from the attached pictures I took of the completed furniture, I was incredibly happy with the final results. I will be reaching out to Gabriel down the road to assist with other furniture assembly requests and such so I highly recommend requesting his services.See more

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is vinyl siding?

Vinyl siding is a form of plastic siding that’s known for its durability, affordability and low-maintenance qualities. It’s also relatively easy to install and versatile. It comes in different styles and colors, and it can mimic the appearance of wood and other materials.

How long does vinyl siding last?

Vinyl siding can last up to 60 years, according to the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors. However, you need to stay on top of repairs, maintenance and cleaning if you want your siding to last a long time.

To extend your vinyl siding’s lifespan, hire a professional who can clean and repair your siding as needed.

What kind of paint can you use on vinyl siding?

If you’re thinking about painting your vinyl siding, choose a paint that has acrylic or urethane resins to help it stick to the vinyl. Many experts recommend choosing an exterior latex urethane paint.

However, you should always find out from your vinyl siding manufacturer if your warranty will be void if you decide to paint it, states the Vinyl Siding Institute.

How do you remove vinyl siding?

Homeowners can remove vinyl siding by using a removal tool, such as a zip tool. Removing the siding yourself may save you money. But if you’re not an experienced DIY-er (or you just don’t want to do this task on your own), you can hire a siding contractor to handle this for you.

What do you put under vinyl siding?

When installing vinyl siding, a contractor will ensure the following is underneath:

  • Sheathing or backerboard
  • Insulation (blown, house wrap, sheet)
  • Furring strips
  • Water-resistive barrier

vinyl siding installer can help ensure you have everything you need before they add the siding to your house.
