Christina’s graphic design services were instrumental in developing the iconic “Crackhead Jesus Is Coming” bumper sticker campaign that is featured in the University, Museum and library reference book by DB Burkeman titled, “Stickers:Stuck Up Piece Of Crap: From Punk Rock To Contemporary Art”, featured alongside the work of industry legends Andy Warhol, Shepard Fairey and Banksy. Christina was also responsible for creating the logo and early event promotional materials for the Modern Art Music Movement (MAMM), an international coalition of artists, musicians, filmmakers and professionals using art, music, movies and live mixed-media events to raise awareness about social issues not normally covered in mainstream media and introduce new talent using cutting edge technology. Christina worked my vision into a translatable form that could be digested by masses in print. I, Victor-Hugo Vaca II, look forward to working with her talent and skill in future endeavors and recommend her professionalism and design prowess to any serious prospects. VHVII

I contacted The Villas Channel Productions within a couple of days of the event where I would be singing/performing and he made me feel very comfortable and confident in his ability to show up and do a good job. He explained exactly what he was going to do and what equipment he would be using. He came to the event and was very professional. He and his assistant were polite and it was obvious that they enjoyed the event as well. Prior to leaving, I was advised of the next step and given an approximate day that I would be contacted with the finished product. He followed through with what he was contracted to do and I will be conducting further business with him in the near future.

Boogietek took photos and video of our wedding on May 9, 2015 at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens. I could not be happier with the work they have done. They went above and beyond for us and stayed with us throughout the entire afternoon and evening. On top of that, Jose has such a creative mind. While taking pictures we discovered other beautiful shots. We were able to get a preview picture and I cannot wait for the final photos and video. They have seriously done a fantastic job and I plan to work with them again for any event in the future!

Dan Paulish DJ'ed a charity event for 150 people He was knowledgeable about the venue itself, and the best flow of events for this type of event. He supplied all equipment, and worked well within the venue's constraints. Our guests had a fabulous time, and had a hard time leaving the dance floor! We were very happy with DJ Paulish and his services.

I threw a surprise birthday roast for my girlfriend. After communicating with several videographers, I decided to use Bob. First, I would like to say he exceeded my expectations. This was my first time arranging an event like this, and I needed everything to go as planned. Bob was very easy to communicate with by answering any questions in a timely manner. He also worked with my budget. I wasn't looking for someone super cheap because that brings up red flags, but I was looking for quality at a reasonable price. He arrived to my event before I showed up, and was already set up and ready to video when I arrived. I was running photos on a projector and wanted better quality, and he eagerly advised me on how to achieve this. Again, he exceeded my expectations with his willingness to accommodate. My boyfriend paid him early before event was over, and advised Bob he could leave. He didn't realize I wanted my girlfriend to be video'd opening her gifts. I saw Bob packing up, and rushed over to him regarding continuing to video event. He apologized and immediately started to re setup equipment. Later my boyfriend told me it was his mistake. Lastly, I received my 3 dvd's in 2-3 days as promised. The quality, and Bob capturing great moments at the event was superb! I highly recommend him, and will employ him for future events.

We received good feedback about Robert from the Organizers at Our Event. When he arrived, he introduced himself and began setting up. He then started playing Gospel music as we requested and soon returned dressed in a suit. We were all impressed with his level of professionalism. We didn't even get to meet before the event but he delivered well. Thank you Robert! May God bless you, your Family & your business!!! From Marc & Nicole

David and his team were amazing to work with. We had to reschedule our event for later in the year but DRO worked seamlessly with us to be able to still cover the event for us. The pre-event prep was easy and he helped us stay on track of what he needed as well to be able to photograph the event to our expectations. DRO's final photos were amazing and captured what we asked for, and beyond. He also so generously worked with our nonprofit needs and budget which helped us even more. Can't wait to use DRO in the future!

It was truly a pleasure working with Matt. We hired him to record our volleyball tournament last month for a special project. From our initial conversation, we noticed right away how personable he was. We did not meet with Matt prior to the event but we knew we were going to be comfortable working with him. He was very responsive to all our inquiries prior to the event through phone calls and emails. He was also flexible with his time. We originally requested his services for 5 hours but turned out we needed him for 10 hours and he gladly accepted several days prior to the event. While we asked for recordings of the game play, we also asked for some creative shots and the videos turned out better than we could ask for. His eye for interesting angles made the videos special. During the tournament, he was always available and prepared to record our games. He was easy to work with and had a great attitude. In addition to HD videos, we asked for some 4K footage and he was able to deliver with a handheld stabilizer camera at no extra cost. Out of more than twenty videographers we've asked for price quotes, Be Noticed Productions was the most cost effective with regard to time, equipment and quality. Please note we only asked for raw footage so we have no experience with their editing process. I recommend Be Noticed Productions for any recording needs you may have! If we get another chance, we will hire Matt once again.

I can't say enough about the magic these darlings created. Your wedding day will fly by and having a wedding video will be something you forever have, the one thing that will make you relive that beautiful day. The trailer alone, I've watched at least a hundred times and so has my friends and family. Every time I'm in awe. I emailed many videographers but these loves ere the only ones that wanted to meet me in person right away before discussing anything else. It was instant connection and they put every bit of love that they gave off into this video. Take a look at their gorgeous films and see what I mean... Kelly and Jonathan is mine. Unreal and mine forever, so thankful to have had them!!

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What is a videographer and what do they do?

A videographer professionally films weddings and other events and edits the footage to create film keepsakes or marketing materials for their clients. Wedding videographers record all the key elements of your wedding day, ceremony and reception, and then edit the hours of film during post-production to make a wedding video, social media highlight reels, and any other film features you choose. Wedding videography captures, in live action, your vows, the cake-cutting, the first dance, reception toasts, the decor, the guests and all the details of your day. Many wedding videographers also interview guests (based on an interview list provided by the couple) and incorporate the recorded responses into the wedding video. Event videography typically costs less than wedding videography, as events are shorter with less detail. The national average cost for event videography is $500-$760, while the national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. A videographer usually does not need to be licensed, but it is important to confirm they have insurance and good standing in the business community, as well as good client reviews. A great majority of the work happens during post-production. The pros watch and blend together the hours of footage they took (sometimes from multiple cameras) to capture the story of your wedding day or event.

How do you choose a wedding videographer?

A wedding videographer will create a lifetime memory for you from edited video footage of your wedding day, ceremony and reception. Choosing a wedding videographer starts with looking online at portfolios of their past work. There’s no need to talk to anyone unless you love what you see. Next, make sure they have good reviews and past client experience; don’t be shy about asking for references if there aren’t any posted online. When you find someone who has a style you love, ask if they are available on your wedding day. If so, it’s time to talk pricing. Be clear about your maximum budget, and ask what kind of packages they offer. Pricing will depend on the number of crew needed for filming, the hours they are required to be onsite, post-production editing, and the length of the final product. Talk with several wedding videographers to get a feel for what prices are like in your region. Nationally, the average cost for wedding videography ranges between $990 and $1,260 per event. Once you agree on a product and have a plan, get everything in a written and signed contract. Clearly state the details of what is expected for your wedding day and from the final product. Be prepared to pay a deposit to reserve their services for the day, then pay the remainder upon receiving the video.

What should you ask your wedding videographer before hiring?

Finding the perfect wedding videographer doesn’t have to be stressful. Asking a few key questions upfront will help you find the right fit for your big day. Before talking with wedding videographers, research their work online. Look at their websites, business profiles and social media, and see what their finished wedding videos look like. If the style fits what you’re envisioning, it’s time to reach out. During initial contact, make sure you get along with the person. This is important since they’ll be interacting with you and your guests.

Your first question should be about their availability; there’s no point in going further if they’re booked on your wedding day. Ask to see references if they’re not readily available online. Next, it’s time to talk about money. Ask how they determine rates or what kind of packages they offer. When you settle on a rate and the services you want, make sure to have a written contract that outlines everything, including cost, length of time they film, what post-production will include, and when you can expect to receive the edited project.

When do you pay your wedding videographer and wedding photographer?

Most wedding videographers and photographers require a set deposit when you hire them. Wedding season is a busy time and a deposit secures that vendor’s services for your wedding date. It also protects the vendor if the couple changes their mind at the last minute, and they can’t find a new booking and lose work for the day. The deposit may be anywhere from 20 percent to  50 percent of the agreed-upon total price. Always get a written confirmation that your deposit has been received.

The remainder of the wedding videography and photography bill may be due in the week before to your wedding or on the day of the wedding. Other vendors may require a second payment immediately before the wedding and a third and final payment after the wedding video or photos are delivered. Each vendor has their own policies, so before hiring be sure to read, understand and agree to payment protocols. There is no requirement for tipping wedding videographers or photographers, but if you do want to tip them, the end of the reception is the appropriate time.

How much is videography for a wedding?

Wedding videography is one thing many couples regret not paying for. It may seem like just another expense during wedding planning, but it’s really special to have a moving memory of your big day. The national average cost for wedding videography is $990-$1,260. Pricing can vary depending on wedding length, special film features, the amount of editing required, and how many videographers are needed to cover the event. Many videographers offer packages that provide different levels of service. A very simple wedding documentary could be $600 or more, while a full-scale cinematic experience involving multiple videographers could be $2,500 or more. Here’s an example of average package pricing:

  • Package 1: $1,400
    • Footage during and after the ceremony, including highlights requested by the couple.
    • Two cameras with audio equipment.
    • DVD including a 3- or 4-minute edit to a song of the couple’s choice and a 45- to 50-minute raw edit covering the entire event.
    • Recordings of guests’ good wishes to the couple.
  • Package 2: $1,800
    • Includes everything from Package 1, plus an additional videographer (2 total) and aerial videography.
Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
