Just stopped coming to our house for no reason. No contact from the business owner after the initial quote. No contact when they decided to stop servicing our yard. We will be seeking a new contractor. Maybe Dee's Landscaping has so many accounts now that they don't need our business.

A great group of guys. They showed up this morning and WOW is an understatement...... Lou and Robert immediately went to work as soon as they got out of their truck..... Sprinkler head wasn't broken but instead the ATT fider optics cables were wrapped around the flex cable of the srinkler which had buried the sprinkler head in the ground. They replaced the sprinkler with a new head and went around to every other sprinkler head and adjusted them. They will be returning tomorrow and replace some sod as well as adding top soil to some needed areas in my yard. I can't complain at all about them. I will definitely be calling them back for any other irrigation or yard needed work in the future. VERY REASONABLE PRICE......... They didn't try to take me to the bank but did explain everything they were doing at all times......

Daniel was a pleasure to work with. Prompt, professional and extremely personable. He repaired several broken sprinkler heads and tuned the entire system. Not only was he knowledgeable in irrigation system but a wealth of knowledge in all facets of lawn care of which he freely shared his expertise. Reasonably priced. Job well done!!

We did not end up getting their full lawn service, but Tony and his father was able to help look over our lawn and give some pointers on what we can do to improve it. Our irrigation system had a bit of an issue, but they were able to fix it right up for a fair price. Highly recommended, would use their service in the near future on any upcoming projects.

Fabiano Silva did an outstanding job removing six brushes behind my backyard. Most contractors I talked to before would have damaged all my lawn if they did it their ways. Thank you very much for the hard work. I will definitely hire Fabiano Silva again if I have other projects.

Turf Masters and Steven did a great job with fixing my sprinkler system. It hadn't worked for a few years and I had accepted that it would cost and arm and a leg to fix. Turns out there were a couple broken pipes and a couple heads that needed replacing. It was fast and very cost-effective. I'll use them for any future irrigation or landscaping needs I have.

Brad will start my landscaping on Monday 03/07/2016. So, as of now (I will leave more reviews as we go) Brad has been 100% professional. Courteous, on time (he's come over 3 - 4 times to go over the details I want done and guarantees satisfaction, not only with the workmanship but, that he'd stick to getting my job completed before jumping to any other large jobs (very important to me). So far, he's like no other contractor (in a positive way) I've dealt with and I've built a house or two so, I know sub-contractors! BTW - His prices are awesome too. More later. Don K

Had my swimming pool re-marcited, pool deck repainted and patio stones replacing about 500 sq ft of my back yard adjacent to the pool deck. The finished project is very good overall. The paving part of the project is outstanding. The swimming pool really looks good also. The only less than favorable part of the project was the length of time it has taken to completed it and the inability to be able to know if or when the contractors work crews would arrive. There were a few problems during the process as it was finishing but the company representative working with us went out of his way to make sure the problems were corrected. I would recommend this company to anyone researching them but would suggest that a date/time schedule of the different work crews required be set up at the beginning of the project to be able to plan their activities around the crews presence or absence.

The owner of GB irrigation Backflow was on time for the appointment and very professional. He gave my husband and me a quote to test our backflow system and i’m happy to say, it was less than the cost we received from the vendors contracted through JEA SCORE! I was a cost savings! Once he concluded testing, he asked to document the meter # and then faxed the results to JEA on our behalf. Yes the backflow passed the test. Yippie! Additionally, because of his professionalism, responsiveness and low cost, we asked him to give us a quote to re-route and expand pipes to our irrigation system. We will definitely use this company again and refer our family and friends. Thank you for a positive experience!

We have an investment property that we did't remember to hire someone to mow. We are in Orlando and the property.is in Jacksonville. I found Chris through Thumbtack and he called me right away. The next day he went and mowed, cleaned out debris and tree limbs that had fallen. He checked the windows and found two opened and I had him go in and close them. He sent me plenty of pictures and updates and we feel very fortunate to have had him work for us. He even went back a week later and hung signs and checked on the property. Five stars, the place looks a hundred percent improved.

Because we approach every project with the same mindset build it safely, on time, on budget and with no surprises.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

What does a landscape contractor do?

Landscape contractors work from outdoor architectural or design plans to build and install hardscaping or softscaping for the client, much as a general contractor uses architectural designs to build a house. Landscape contractors are experts in soil drainage, grading, hardscaping (installing concrete paths and retaining wall, building ponds, etc.), and planting. They have heavy equipment such as excavators and tractors to prepare the land as needed.

Some landscape contractors are also landscape architects or landscape designers. The titles can be compared with those in home construction: A building or landscape architect must earn a specialized architecture degree and pass an exam to have a license. A designer — whether an interior designer or a landscape designer — does not usually require a license to work. Landscape contractors are not required by law to work from plans designed by a landscape architect, so you may work directly with the landscape contractor to specify the work you’d like done. The national average cost for large-scale landscaping projects is $10,160. Pricing can vary greatly depending on the project scope, materials and design.

How do you find a good landscape architect?

Hiring a landscape architect is an investment in your home. Landscaping can reduce water bills, improve your home resale value, add to your daily living experience and significantly boost curb appeal. A landscape architect will draw the designs for your new landscape; you’ll want to hire a landscape contractor to carry out the plans. Many companies provide design-build landscaping services, with a company architect creating plans for your vision and the landscape contractor executing the vision. With the proper academic background and licensing, a person can be both landscape architect and landscape contractor. Here are a few tips for finding a great landscape architect:

  • Research online portfolios and find several landscape architects whose work interests you.
  • Read online reviews of client experiences.
  • Research whether the landscape architects you are interested in are currently licensed and in good standing with the licensing board, and check whether any complaints have been issued against them. Each state will have their own searchable database. For example, you can search for California landscape architects via the state’s Department of Consumer Affairs.
  • Request bids from your selected landscape architects.
  • Hire the one you like the most, taking care to have a clearly written contract outlining scope of work.

What should you look for when hiring a landscaper?

Landscaping can be costly — though it usually pays off in curb appeal and home resale value — so finding a landscaper who is worth the investment is important. When hiring a landscaper, look for proven success with the type of results you want. For example, if you know you want a drought-tolerant yard, research websites, reviews and portfolios that showcase beautiful drought-tolerant yards that the landscaper has installed. In addition to relevant experience, you’ll want to find a landscape contractor who has good client reviews. Good communication skills are another important quality in a landscape contractor, since everything from plant selection to hardscape installation needs to be discussed and agreed upon. A landscape contractor who is reliable, easy to understand and able to listen to what you want will help make the process seamless and enjoyable.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
