I initially hired Gilberto to repaint the first floor of my house after I moved out and was preparing it for rental. He did an amazing job, which was completed timely at a fair price. He kept me informed along the way and went above expectations. A few weeks later, when the house experienced some minor water damage from a new AC install, he came out the day after I called and completed the job the same day. Amazing! You wont be disappointed with Stone Care's service or the quality of their work!

One thing I’ve discovered: it’s nearly impossible to find a reliable and competent appliance repair company. So this find is a major score! Junior from Smart Tech came to diagnose our broken dryer this morning. He was prompt, extremely knowledgeable, and honest. Even though he needed to order a part, he called me later the same day to say he had tracked down the part locally and could return to complete the job! He went above in beyond in every way. I’m happily getting caught up on laundry now. Thank you, Smart Tech and Junior!

Andy has done a few jobs for us around our new home like painting and repairs that we are very happy with, but we are just thrilled with the vinyl planks that he recently installed throughout our house and on the stairs. As carpet was removed, Andy uncovered unforeseen obstacles that he handled in a very professional manner. The stairs proved to be a challenge as they were thicker then expected, but Andy knew just how to create a masterpiece out of them! We highly recommend Andy for all of your home repair and installation needs. Thanks Andy!

Chris was amazing. I hired him to install a NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage. He arrived early to our scheduled appointment and reviewed the full scope of work with me, including his labor rate, materials needed and options on the best and most cost effective way to install. We agreed to schedule the work for a convenient time and day. When he came to install the outlet, he allowed me to watch and observe his work. He took the time to explain what he was doing. His work was clean, efficient and of the highest quality. I would recommend him for any electrical work that you may need, as he is extremely knowledgeable and professional. I will definitely be hiring him for any future electrical work again!

Jose was great. He came and assed the bathtub tile repair job and then completed the next day. High quality in a short time. We also had him repair the tile on the bathroom floor as it was leaking. He went out of his way to go all over town to find the right tile as well. He and his co-worker were very respectful of our home and cleaned up nicely before he left. I would hire him again for tile work.

I have not used Thumbtack before and the whole experience was great! Came home from vacation to find our Kitchenaid built-in refrigerator was not cooling. It’s 18 yrs old so knew we could potentially have bad news=meaning time to buy a new refrigerator for $8-10k. David quickly responded to my request on a Sat morning and then my call. Gave him the refrigerator model number and he stopped at the parts store before he arrived so that he would have all that he might need to repair the refrig. Thankfully what he thought the problem was right and within 20 mins he had the new part installed all for under $200.00. I was thrilled! Overall the experience was great! Prompt, professional service for a fair price. Will definitely call Beach Breeze Appliance Repair again.

    Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

    • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
    • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
    • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

    How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.

Hire skilled professionals for absolutely everything.
