I initially hired Gilberto to repaint the first floor of my house after I moved out and was preparing it for rental. He did an amazing job, which was completed timely at a fair price. He kept me informed along the way and went above expectations. A few weeks later, when the house experienced some minor water damage from a new AC install, he came out the day after I called and completed the job the same day. Amazing! You wont be disappointed with Stone Care's service or the quality of their work!

As snowbirds, more than 1500 miles away, we needed to find an appliance repair service quickly for a broken refrigerator. Always reluctant to just look up someone online, we took a chance with InCity Appliance Repair and were very satisfied. "Tony" called and explained what had to be done, returned promptly and completed the repair at a fair price. We'll definitely use use them again when needed. Highly recommended!

One thing I’ve discovered: it’s nearly impossible to find a reliable and competent appliance repair company. So this find is a major score! Junior from Smart Tech came to diagnose our broken dryer this morning. He was prompt, extremely knowledgeable, and honest. Even though he needed to order a part, he called me later the same day to say he had tracked down the part locally and could return to complete the job! He went above in beyond in every way. I’m happily getting caught up on laundry now. Thank you, Smart Tech and Junior!

Ultimate Appliance repaired my dishwasher in a very professional manner. When the first repair did not work they returned the following day with a different part. They installed the new part without any extra charge. This impressed me. Will use them again if any other appliance breaks.

I had a number of jobs that have been pilling up to include electrical repairs, door repairs, ceiling vent installs and Chris knocked them all out in just 1 visit. His price was extremely fair and don't think I could have gotten it done any cheaper. I would definitely recommend Chris to others and will be using his services for any futures installs/repairs I may need to my home in the future.

I worked with Mark and Noeli for 5 years in the Chicago area. They always did a fantastic job on my landscaping and the other projects we asked them to do: like installing our water-sprinkling system, working on a large drainage job, building a brick mailbox and banister, and extending and building out our limestone landscaping walls. I also liked that Mark and Noeli had a small, FAMILY company; and I tried to give them as much work as I possibly could. In addition, I always gave l them very positive references, recommendations, and referrals--which they fully deserved. You will be extremely satisfied with their work. Ray Maddock

I have not used Thumbtack before and the whole experience was great! Came home from vacation to find our Kitchenaid built-in refrigerator was not cooling. It’s 18 yrs old so knew we could potentially have bad news=meaning time to buy a new refrigerator for $8-10k. David quickly responded to my request on a Sat morning and then my call. Gave him the refrigerator model number and he stopped at the parts store before he arrived so that he would have all that he might need to repair the refrig. Thankfully what he thought the problem was right and within 20 mins he had the new part installed all for under $200.00. I was thrilled! Overall the experience was great! Prompt, professional service for a fair price. Will definitely call Beach Breeze Appliance Repair again.

Q & A

Answers to commonly asked questions from the experts on Thumbtack.

How much does refrigerator repair cost?

Refrigerator repair generally costs a fraction of the price of a new fridge and shouldhave your appliance up and running again in no time. The problems your refrigerator is experiencing and the parts required to fix it will affect your repair costs. Where you live can affect labor rates, which will raise or lower your costs. Here are some examples of average costs:

  • Diagnostic fees: $50-$100. Repair pros often have a service call fee or diagnostic fee to account for their time traveling to your location with all their tools to assess the problem. If you choose to have them repair the fridge, most pros then credit this fee toward your repair cost.
  • Parts: $20-$500. A new compressor averages $200, an icemaker $300, and computerized components such as touch screens and control boards average $300 or more.
  • Basic repairs: $180-$400, including parts. This price range can include repairing the evaporator or fan motor.

How long do fridges last?

Refrigerators can last 10 to 20 years, although the most common lifespan is about 13 years. If your fridge is acting up, consider its current age when deciding whether to invest in repairs or buy a new one. Common easy fixes include faulty thermostats, dirty coils and clogged drain lines. Thermostats and dirty coils can be generally be fixed for an average cost of $80-$100. Clogged drain lines, which usually cause leaks, can often be fixed for under $200.

More complex refrigeration repairs such as replacing a bad compressor or replenishing low refrigerant can cost more because of expensive parts and higher labor. A new compressor costs an average of $200, not including labor. If labor is an average of $75-$100 per hour, and the repair takes 3 hours, you’re looking at roughly $500. Consider the age and purchase cost of your fridge; investing $350 in a $600 fridge that is 8 years old may not be cost-effective.
